Chapter 806 - 808: Opening the Safe
CHAPTER 806: CHAPTER 808: OPENING THE SAFE
"She is the second assistant Xavier found."
At this point, there was a strange expression on Winslow’s face:
"As mentioned earlier, Xavier is good with words and brainwashing but is not good at managing people, regulations, and such.
After Maria’s death, Xavier tried handling these tasks for a while, but because he was distracted, he messed up the church’s internal affairs. Ultimately, he had no choice but to find someone else to assist him again."
Considering that his previous relationship with Sister Maria was purely professional, with no physical contact, which ultimately led to Sister Maria "betraying him."
This time, when Archbishop Xavier was selecting someone, he first chose a church nun who had shared a bed with him, then assessed her character and abilities before finally selecting Sister Ali to assist him.
Initially, Sister Ali was indeed wholeheartedly assisting Archbishop Xavier, helping him manage church affairs, getting everything back in order, and gradually restoring the headquarters and branches of the church to their original state.
But one time, when Archbishop Xavier intended to "deepen his relationship" with Sister Ali again, Sister Ali suddenly ordered people to restrain him and began to manage the church’s internal affairs independently.
Archbishop Xavier wanted to resist, but ultimately, he realized that during her previous management work, Sister Ali had successfully won over people and sidelined him, leaving Xavier isolated once more.
This time, Sister Ali went even further. She required Xavier to preach through video recordings from then on, cutting off his direct contact with the congregation.
Sister Ali did this because she, too, was a girl abducted into the church from another state during Sister Maria’s time.
To escape the church, Sister Ali learned to endure and flatter, even mastering very impressive skills, which was one of the reasons Xavier chose her as an assistant.
After officially becoming the second nun, Sister Ali’s thoughts of leaving the church vanished entirely. The dragon slayer ultimately became a dragon. She chose to sideline Xavier, imprison him, and planned to torment him until he died.
Sister Ali also inherited Archbishop Xavier’s network, using various means to ingratiate herself with those businessmen and politicians, continuing to develop the Judgment Process Church, trying to walk the path Maria once failed to achieve.
After experiencing two consecutive "betrayals," this time even being imprisoned, Xavier was heartbroken and began to drink away his days.
"..."
After Winslow finished describing, Mona was shocked and speechless, turning to look at Luo An, only to find Luo An frowning and saying nothing. Mona quickly asked:
"Luo An, what do you think?"
Luo An shook his head and said:
"I think Xavier has a terrible eye for women, and in terms of being a person, he’s an absolute tragedy that makes people want to curse him."
Winslow nodded slightly, clearly agreeing with Luo An’s assessment, while Chenier was left speechless.
"That’s not what I was asking about!"
Mona gave Luo An a sideways glance, then pointed to the safe not far away, whispering:
"There might be items in there related to the Judgment Process Church’s connections with politicians and businessmen.
Sister Ali mentioned before that she had a way to get you, Luo An, promoted quickly, indicating there’s probably someone in Washington D.C. with ties to the Judgment Process Church.
These hot potatoes... what are you planning to do next?"
Luo An paused for a moment, not answering Mona’s question directly, and said:
"The safe is too big to move easily back and forth; let’s find a way to open it first."
Winslow and Chenier looked at Luo An in surprise, as Mona glanced at the safe, noting the digital combination lock, and asked:
"You can crack a digital combination lock?"
"I can’t, but I can get the combination."
Luo An chuckled, patting Mona on the shoulder, then, under Winslow’s and Chenier’s puzzled looks, left his position and walked toward Sister Ali, who was tightly restrained on the other side.
Standing in front of Sister Ali, Luo An didn’t waste words and directly asked:
"What’s the combination for that safe?"
"?"
Sister Ali was puzzled when Luo An approached her. Hearing the question, her confusion instantly vanished, replaced by a look of disdain, and she spoke with a disdainful tone:
"Group Leader Luo An, do you think I will tell you? I suggest you just..."
"I’m just asking a question, why so much nonsense."
Luo An waved his hand again to interrupt, calmly trying to provoke Sister Ali into emotion before asking:
"How many digits is the combination? Three? Four? Five?... Oh, it’s eight.
What’s the first digit? 1? 2? 3?... Oh, it’s 6.
Keep going, what’s the second digit?..."
Everyone’s attention in the small area was drawn to Luo An.
Initially, the two suited men in handcuffs and the nearby SWAT team members thought Luo An was bluffing, having never seen such a self-dialogue style interrogation before.
But as time passed, the thoughts in everyone’s heads gradually mirrored the increasingly vivid expressions on Sister Ali’s face, growing more and more peculiar.
They witnessed the expression on Sister Ali’s face, initially casual, shifting to shock, and finally to sweating on the forehead, trembling lips, looking at Luo An in disbelief.
"...The combination is 8 digits, the numbers are 6-3-7-9-1-1-4-8, very good."
A few minutes later, Luo An smiled in satisfaction, nodding, and patted Sister Ali’s shoulder to express gratitude, then walked over to the safe, crouched down, and started pressing the numbers.
Winslow, Chenier, Mona, a group of SWAT team members, the two suited men, all intently watched Luo An, fixing their eyes on him as he pressed the final digit.
Beep—
Click!
The electronic sound rang, and the safe’s door automatically popped open, the combination completely correct.
"??!!" xN
In an instant, the sound of gasping could be heard from each part of the cabin, lowering the temperature of the cabin significantly.
Winslow and Chenier’s brows twitched, and Mona looked shocked. Despite having seen Luo An interrogate the footprint man Thonaka before, they were still tremendously shocked to see Luo An effortlessly unlocking the combination lock.
The SWAT team members were even more bewildered, gaping; they previously thought Luo An was bluffing, not expecting he actually found out the combination with his self-dialogue.
The two suited men’s gazes toward Luo An seemed akin to seeing a ghost, and recalling the Archbishop’s demonstration of the "Mind Reading Technique," they now seriously doubted Luo An might actually be the one with genuine mind-reading abilities.
Compared to others, the owner of the safe, Sister Ali, was dumbfounded, feeling a chill from her waist straight to the back of her head, as her whole body hair stood on end.
Since becoming the second in command of the Judgment Process Church, Sister Ali knew of the Archbishop Xavier’s fake "Mind Reading Technique," and Xavier even stated there was no such thing as mind reading in the world.
But Luo An’s actions just now plainly indicated that mind reading truly exists, and for example, he can do it!
"Impossible! Absolutely impossible!"
In the end, Sister Ali’s breathing became very rapid, frantically shaking her head and shouting:
"Group Leader Luo An! You surely knew the combination all along, right? Someone in the church betrayed me! Damned, son of a b..."
Luo An couldn’t be bothered with Sister Ali, waving his hand for the SWAT team members to keep her under control, then opened the safe, furrowed his brow at the items inside, and packed them all into Mona’s large backpack.
The plane soon arrived in Washington D.C. As soon as the cabin door opened, a stern-faced white man walked over, and said in a deep voice:
"Hello, Group Leader Greenwood, please come with me."
