Chapter 109: Inviting Cai Hui
CHAPTER 109: INVITING CAI HUI
Liu Wei reacted slightly, causing the Master Alchemist to grin inwardly.
After all, the River of Dawn was indeed one of the most mysterious places in the Mortal Domain.
He said, "The River of Dawn is one of the main reasons why the Alchemy Association of the Kingdom of Jinwu is able to progress faster than any other alchemy association. It is also one of the places where every alchemist in every part of the Mortal Domain wishes to visit and participate in the lantern release tradition due to its benefits.
The lantern release tradition is one of the methods to utilize the River of Dawn, but others speculate there is more into it. In the end, the River of Dawn is still subject for comprehension."
The participants were silent. Most of them were already aware of the River of Dawn, but those who were not, could not help but ask.
"Can you tell me the nature of this River of Dawn?"
Master Alchemist nodded and replied, "At night, the River of Dawn was calm and reflective like silver liquid. However, when dawn approaches, the first sunlight infuses the river with Solar Qi. It was not scorching like what you can see from the sun, but the Solar Qi has a gentle life-nurturing brilliance. Furthermore, the flow of the river is slow and directional, from east to south, which resembles the movement of life essence from birth to renewal.
Hence, the River of Dawn would only appear throughout the sunrise. Once the sun had fully risen, the effects of the River of Dawn would slowly diminish."
The participants nodded.
The Master Alchemist smiled and nodded.
He asked, "If you want to know more about the River of Dawn and the effects of participating in the lantern release tradition, it is much better to see it yourself. I will be expecting your presence."
The participants nodded without hesitation and the Master Alchemist continued, "I won’t take much of your time now. You can proceed with your own private rooms."
The Master Alchemist then communicated with Liu Wei through telepathy.
"The Crown Prince already informed me beforehand he wanted to talk with you. I believe the private room reserved for you is a much better place to have a conversation. I will inform him about your private room. You can simply wait there. Is that okay?"
Liu Wei stared at the Master Alchemist and quickly realized how polite the Master Alchemist was towards him.
He replied, "Please do. Thank you."
The Master Alchemist smiled and nodded towards him.
Of course, the participants noticed the Master Alchemist’s brief action and it quickly caught their attention.
In the end, they did not pry too much about it and simply left to their private rooms.
The Master Alchemist also left, leaving Liu Wei and Cai Hui alone in the Hearthstone Gathering Hall.
Liu Wei turned to Cai Hui and asked, "Cai Hui, there’s something I want to ask you."
Cai Hui was surprised and nodded.
However, when she met Liu Wei’s eyes, she was entranced, not even noticing she was staring at Liu Wei without blinking.
Liu Wei, on the other hand, didn’t notice something was wrong with the way Cai Hui was looking at him, for he was completely distracted by what he was about to ask.
His face was stern.
"Do you want to follow me?"
Cai Hui took some time to process what he had just heard and was taken aback.
She tilted her head sideways and replied, "But my mother..."
Liu Wei was surprised. He wanted to smack his face after forgetting that Cai Hui also has a family.
Wait! She can always and freely return to her mother. What I’m just afraid of is her safety. There’s no way that others who have been eyeing her will leave her be after discovering that she disappears and reappears. Furthermore, what if they will instantly connect her monstrous talent to it?
Liu Wei contemplated for a while and asked, "How about this? I can ask the Crown Prince to take care of your mother. I won’t be surprised if the Alchemy Association will take care of it. As long as you are willing to bid farewell to your mother. You can always return, but you have to grow stronger first."
Cai Hui was troubled and seriously contemplated it. After all, her decision henceforth would determine the direction of her future.
After some time, she asked, "What do you mean to grow stronger?"
Liu Wei nodded and instantly replied, "You can become like me, an alchemist who knows how to fight."
Cai Hui’s eyes widened.
She asked, "I-Is that even possible?"
Liu Wei nodded. "Mhm. Master Wen Ruo is like that. He used alchemy as a way to grow stronger. And when I mean that you need to grow stronger, you should have the power to protect yourself and your mother."
Cai Hui nodded and replied, "Alright. I will follow you, Big Brother Liu Wei. But I have to inform my mother first. I expect I will have to enter seclusion for years, right?"
She recalled there was a room where Liu Wei should have practiced alchemy. She believed she would grow faster than staying in the Alchemy Association.
After all, she trusted the person who changed her life and that was her Big Brother Liu Wei.
Liu Wei hummed in response and said, "Yeah. Pursuing knowledge requires isolation. However, you have to be interested first and not only forced to do so."
Cai Hui nodded. "Don’t worry. I want to follow you, Big Brother, and learn more about alchemy. That has always been my passion."
Liu Wei smiled. "That’s good to know."
Cai Hui smiled and then realized she needed to settle her debt with her Big Brother Liu Wei first.
"Right! Big Brother Liu Wei! I have yet to return the book and pay for the Middle-Grade spirit stone."
Liu Wei was surprised. He nodded and smiled.
Cai Hui said, "But, is it really okay that I only have to pay a single Middle-Grade spirit stone? I have five. You can have all of them, Big Brother Liu Wei."
