Legendary Librarian System
Chapter 50: Messiah?
CHAPTER 50: MESSIAH?
Liu Wei sighed, resigning to his fate.
He stared at the Crown Prince and asked, "So, what do you plan?"
The Crown Prince merely smiled and turned to his father, as the latter nodded at him.
The King gazed at Liu Wei with a solemn expression.
He said, "In fact, we don’t know. However, we always wait, waiting for someone to be able to help us. We completely believe it will be you, Liu Wei."
Liu Wei was silent.
His expression was ambiguous.
However, deep inside, he was screaming.
What am I supposed to do, then? If I’m the messiah, why do I feel like I don’t know how to save you all? I am already dealing with a walking disaster within me and yet I have to face something more outrageous?
In the end, LIu Wei could only swallow his complains.
He tried his best to smile and asked, "What made you think that way?"
The King smiled, knowing that Liu Wei might simply be testing them.
It seems he’s simply trying to avoid directly helping us, since it might reveal his greatest mystery. I get it, he wants to save us only if only the situation calls for it.
The King shook his head and said, "Unfortunately, we are very helpless. Even if we disclose it to other sects or factions, orthodox or unorthodox, and send our distress call to their main branch, they might still be helpless about it."
Liu Wei shook his head and said, "At the very least, they can help. A single ant is useless against an elephant, but if a hundred thousand or even a million will stand up against a single elephant, then they can easily win."
The King was stunned and nodded slowly.
He was silent for a while and said, "It’s just that we are afraid that the Golden Crow might know of our intention."
Liu Wei shrugged and said, "Then, do it secretly. In addition, now that you are here, isn’t the Golden Crow aware of your presence here, then? In addition, will he not sense if the curse he placed in your cultivation technique is suddenly being expelled?"
The King felt trouble.
He completely neglected it.
However, the Crown Prince replied in his stead.
"He will know, but he won’t do anything. Not yet, he’s almost on his goal. Breaking it at this moment might spoil his plan. That’s why, despite appearing to be silent in his actions, we assumed that he would destroy the whole world.
It takes a different level of patience to achieve something great, you know?"
Liu Wei was surprised and nodded, agreeing with him.
But the Crown Prince was not finished, as he grinned.
"In addition, isn’t this place completely undetectable even by the Spiritual Sense?"
Liu Wei’s eyebrows lifted upwards.
He was utterly surprised.
He called the System.
’System, is that true?’
[Yeah. I believe, every cultivation at the Foundation Establishment Stage knew about it. But, I doubt I can totally block the senses of a being higher than the Nascent Soul Stage.
Nevertheless, not even an Immortal can gaze inside the other realms. I’m very confident about it.]
Liu Wei was surprised.
He heaved a sigh of relief.
’Mhm. I believe you."
Liu Wei then turned towards the Crown Prince and said, "If only it can still apply to a being like the Golden Crow."
The Crown Prince was about to reply when the King suddenly interjected.
"I remember now, Liu Wei. For the Golden Crow to avoid the eyes of the beings hunting him, he isolated himself.
It goes both ways.
He was isolated in the world, too.
The only way he can connect on the outside world is through us, those who cultivated our cultivation technique.
At the very least, he can sense our location but probably not our surroundings."
Liu Wei heaved a sigh of relief and nodded.
"That’s good, then. Anyway, let’s go back to our conversation. What made you think that I can help?"
The King was taken aback and raised the book with an expression, seemingly telling, "Isn’t this obvious?"
Liu Wei rolled his eyes and said, "Of course, I have an idea that it is the book that I can provide. However, do you think that suffices? To break free from its curse—easy, but to fight against it...
That will be a suicide."
The King shook his head and smiled, "I still believe this will be our greatest weapon. In addition, it is not only us who receive it, even you.
At the very least, we are confident that the Golden Crow will not leave from its isolation for the next decade... or perhaps, in the century. We are only afraid that the moment its food source is cut off, it might shorten."
Liu Wei rolled his eyes and said, "Yeah, to six months."
Them and their blind confidence...
Liu Wei clucked his tongue in annoyance.
The King smiled and shook his head.
He said, "Do you know what is the average lifespan of the Core Formation Level cultivators? It’s 400 years old. Hence, we can assume that the Golden Crow always eats in almost every half a century.
My father died a hundred years ago, so we can assume we still have a century or two."
Liu Wei fell into deep contemplation.
A century, huh? Will that be enough? If I focus solely on cultivation, it might be enough for me to attain the cultivation level higher than the Nascent Soul Stage.
However, that is if I don’t face a bottleneck that might last for years...
[Dimwit.]
The System interrupted his thought process.
Liu Wei was startled.
[Do you think that with my library, you will face a bottleneck? If you can’t still breakthrough it despite being feed spoon by my books, then you don’t deserve to be my librarian!]
Liu Wei was enlightened.
She’s right. I am also confident with my comprehension level. If I can’t reach the cultivation level higher than the Nascent Soul Stage, then I wouldn’t have been chosen as her librarian.
Liu Wei secretly rejoiced.
However, he soon realized something was wrong.
It crept up deep from his instinct.
But, why do I feel like something is wrong?
