Leveling Endlessly With My Harem
Chapter 43: Harley Lannister
CHAPTER 43: HARLEY LANNISTER
Charlotte had recommended the Harley Auction House to Max, saying that it dealt with pretty much every trade in the Godshine City.
Max also knew about it as one important character was from the clan managing the Auction House.
Now, he was sitting in one of its rooms, waiting for the person who would attend to him. While waiting he began looking around the room. It was a small, simple room with two sofas and a table on which refreshments were placed for the customers.
Soon, the door opened and a slender figure walked inside the room. Max turned to look at her and was surprised because he recognized her.
’No way I’m getting the description wrong, right? Why is she here?’ Max wondered, swiftly hiding his surprise.
She was a poised and elegant figure with blonde hair swept into a neat updo, accented by a delicate floral hairpin.
Behind slender, gold-rimmed glasses, her vivid green eyes stood out with an almost luminescent quality. A high-collared, black lace bodice flew into a graceful silhouette, contrasted by billowing white sleeves, while layers of delicate jewelry and crimson-tipped nails completed her refined appearance.
It was definitely her. Harley Lannister, the woman had brought the Harley Auction House to its great heights.
She came to sit before him and said, with a professional smile, "Welcome to Harley Auction House. Would you like to sell or buy something?"
Max suppressed his curiosity to find out what she was doing in Godshine City and answered her, "Thanks. And Both! I have something to sell but I doubt others will recognize its true value so I came here."
"You came just at the right place then. We have the best Appraisers in the whole Corelhelm Kingdom," Harley’s smile turned bigger as she said, "Please give me the item you want to sell."
Max nodded and took out a gold coin from his pocket and slid it forward on the glass table. He had already taken out a few gold coins before coming here so that nobody suspected him.
That decision proved to be right, as he was now facing Harley herself. She would have caught him too easily.
Harley picked up the gold coin and looked at it closely. If anyone paid close attention, they would notice her emerald eyes glowing slightly.
She nodded after a second and said, "It’s from the Late-Fourth Epoch, so it’s definitely worth a decent sum. Do you want to sell it to us?"
’So Baron Marcus actually belonged to the Fourth Epoch?’ Max nodded at her and said, "Yes. How much will I get from it?"
"It depends. But since it’s in fine condition, its imprint is also good, and considering the history behind it, I can give you 180 Sel."
"I see. What about it if I give you more of these?" Max asked with a smile. "I happened to come across a good place recently and my luck was good to find these."
"Baron Marcus, right?" Harley asked, enjoying his shocked reaction.
’The hell? How did she find out so quickly?’ Max blinked in surprise.
"We have records of many things and we also deal with information, young sir," Harley chuckled softly, making her look even more charming.
’Ah! I forgot they also deal with information,’ Max sighed and said, "Yes, I got the gold coins from there. So, how will you charge them?"
"Hmm, if you have these in bulk then I can increase its value to, let’s say, 200 Sel each coin," Harley said thoughtfully.
"200 Sel is good!" Max immediately agreed, as he knew he wouldn’t get a better deal than this. "I have a small stash of them that I can deliver to you later. You can expect at least five thousand gold coins."
This time it was Harley who was surprised, but she kept her professionalism and didn’t ask anything related to it. She just looked at the gold coin in her hand and asked, "How many do you have now?"
"40!"
"8000 Sel. I will transfer it to your CID," Harley said with a nod; however, she got no response so she raised her head to look at Max.
He scratched his cheeks slightly and said, "Actually, I also want a CID so I was wondering if you can help me with it."
"Sure! Just give me your ID card and I’ll make you one. As for its cost, I’ll deduct it from the gold coins," Harley said as a subtle smile formed on her lips.
Max noticed amusement in her eyes, making him confused as he replied, "That’s the problem! I don’t have an ID card!"
This was the main problem he needed to deal with. Since most of the kingdoms were in constant war with each other, nobody wanted refugees as their enemies could infiltrate their kingdom through them.
So, every kingdom had an identification system where every single individual of the kingdom was registered in it and given an ID card that directly linked to that database.
Forging a fake identity wasn’t impossible, but it certainly was difficult. So, Max had come to Harley Auction House, which dealt with many underworld and illegal activities along with their main business of trading.
As long as he gave enough money and had someone with a higher status in the Kingdom backing him, the auction house would forge the identity for him.
As for his original ID, he didn’t want to use it as that would alert the Royal Palace and he might face problems then.
Deserting one’s duty from the Royal Palace was a crime and if found out, he would be seriously punished.
Max was sure they wouldn’t look for weak and insignificant people like him, but him being a bastard of a king might pose a problem.
So, he didn’t want to risk anything. Fortunately, his hair and his whole body underwent changes so that nobody would recognize him.
Harley stared at him for a few seconds, making him nervous. If it was anyone else, he would be fine but this was Harley he was dealing with.
She was a Platinum Rank Hunter, one of the strongest beings of the Corelhelm Kingdom. Or at least that was what everyone knew.
However, Max knew her very well. She was a cunning and ruthless businesswoman, who had already ascended to the Diamond Rank in her early thirties.
Even the king himself was weaker compared to her.
’Again, why the hell is she here?’
