CHAPTER 60: CONFESSION (1)

The night was long, and the duo of Max and Stelle didn’t let it go to waste. They went from one place to another, enjoying everything the city had to offer with all their hearts.

They had forgotten everything and were just having fun with each other’s company. It was especially true for Stelle, who rarely had this type of fun.

Hours passed without them realising it, as they went over to all the places Max had researched about earlier.

When it was past midnight, they decided to end their so-called celebration by riding on a skytram.

It was rune-based technology that let it float in the sky above the city with no support, while giving a perfect, peaceful view of the Godshine City.

Max guided Stelle into the skytram, the interior dimly lit by ambient mana-lights that pulsed gently with their presence.

The seats near the window were warm and wide, designed for comfort on long rides above the world.

As the tram lifted into the air, the city slowly unfolded below them—rivers of light, glowing rooftops, and enchanted towers twinkling like fallen stars.

Above them, the moon hung full and clear, casting a silver sheen over the world.

It calmed their souls while also giving them the atmosphere to talk their hearts out. Nobody was here to listen to them, meaning no one could judge them.

They were all alone in there.

"Max," she called his name for the first time, taking him by surprise, and continued, "Thank you for today. I can’t tell you how happy I am."

"Are you finally willing to open up to me?" Max asked, as he put his hand on hers.

This time, they weren’t wearing gloves, so her hand felt so warm. It was like the world was freezing cold, and her hands were the only source of survival.

"I fell for your schemes, after all," Stelle snorted and looked away. "You’re good at scamming innocent women."

"First of all, you’re not an innocent woman, and second of all, I never scammed anyone—heck, I haven’t even kissed anyone," Max refused plainly.

"Lies! There is no way you haven’t kissed anyone. If you haven’t been in many relationships, then why do you know so much about women?" Stelle asked, giving a piercing look.

"I don’t, Stelle. You’re just a simple-minded person like me, so we just bond well," Max sighed and said.

"I don’t believe it! You made my sister like this, and even now I’m feeling my heart beating so fast," Stelle gritted her teeth and closed in on him. "Why do I feel this way even though we met just a few days ago? It doesn’t make sense."

"Because love isn’t always slow poison. Sometimes, you just begin to like a person in the first meeting because you click with them," Max explained. "That is what happened with us. I recognised it quickly and decided to be in a cohort with you two."

"See? You told us that you worked in the Royal Stable, yet you know so much about relationships. How is that possible?" Stelle asked. "Wait! Were you in relationship with maids of palace?"

"Where is your mind running off too? Of course not!"

Hearing him, she remembered Charlotte’s hypothesis and thought, ’Wait! Could it be that he had a lot of experience with women before he regressed? Or maybe...maybe with me?’

Now, that possibility seemed so true, and that made her think of another thing.

’That also means he asked me out today because he knows it’s my birthday today? It can’t be a coincidence!’

That meant that the Stelle Max had a relationship with in another timeline trusted him enough to tell him such a big secret. Because there were only two people who knew about her birthday...

On the other hand, Max didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. It wasn’t that he was experienced with women, but more so that he had researched a lot while writing for his novels.

[Damn virgin energy!]

’Shut up!’

"Well, I don’t know what will make you believe, but I truly haven’t been with any women...."

Before Max could finish his words, Stelle cut him off. "Do you like me?"

Max swallowed back his words and turned to face her. "Yes! I like you!"

Stelle shuddered slightly upon hearing that, but still kept eye contact with him and asked, "You like my sister too, right?"

Max opened his mouth to say something to change the topic, but something within him stopped him from doing it.

He sighed and looked away. "Yes! I also like her!"

"Tsk! Have some shame, idiot. You just confessed that you like me, and now you’re telling me you like my sister too?" Stelle snorted but didn’t look surprised. "You’re a scum!"

"I know, and I will still pursue both of you with all my heart unless you reject me to my face," Max said, turning towards her. "I don’t want to lose either of you."

Stelle fell silent, not daring to look into his eyes, as she was afraid she would fall for his words and wanted to use her own thoughts to think about his proposal.

She knew she enjoyed his company, and he was the only person other than Charlotte who had managed to enter her heart.

It was strange, as he had not done anything great to leave an imprint on her heart, yet for someone like her, who was surrounded by people who disliked her, it was a nice change.

She knew she wanted him in her life. Maybe it was just her hormones that were acting up, but she wanted to be with him.

Stelle couldn’t remember the last time she had this much fun. Ever since Charlotte became an adult and assumed the clan’s responsibilities as its heir, she had less and less time to do anything with Stelle.

However, Stelle never blamed her because she knew Charlotte was doing all of that for her. She was the only person in the whole clan who cared about her.

Yet, this strange person they had met a few days ago had made her days so much fun and her life so lively. Even when she was in the clan, she was always thinking of the time she would dive in the Labyrinth with him again.

Even when she wanted to celebrate her birthday, she had thought of both her sister and him.

She was just like Max, who wanted both of them in her life.

But was she really ready for that?
