CHAPTER 502: DARKNESS VS CHAOS

The fight between Rio and Amy was starting to last longer and longer. And when it officially crossed the 10 minute mark, to not bore the audience, and getting the winner faster - Agnus removed the restriction on usage of aura.

The duo immediately felt the changes around them, without needing any explanation. Yet while Rio’s face lit up in a smile, Amy’s expression darkened like the belly of a pot.

And her gut feeling of fear and uneasiness wasn’t wrong, as the moment Agnus put down his sigils, a dark shadow rose from the ground and grabbed at her throat.

Aura manifestation in corporal form.

"This is cheating." Amy shouted, annoyed at how one vs one battle suddenly turned into one vs two. Because of how absurdly high mastery her brother had over aura.

While she could just cover her body, strengthen a few muscles, Rio could literally project his aura into physical form to help him fight.

The advantage she had of welding weapons was lost completely as all her strikes simply passed right through the shadowy form. Hitting nothing.

Giving Rio’s real body enough time to kick, slap, and punch his way through.

Immediately the ’equal’ battle seemed to turn into a one sided beating. Amy was literally either thrown around the arena like a ragdoll, or constantly jumping around on the verge of being kicked out.

But with gritted teeth and a ton of injuries, she finally managed to ’survive’ this round too.

Agnus once again, waved his hand to control the formation, and removed the restriction on using magic, and unlocking their element.

The dense mana surged into the arena like opening of floodgates.

The fight once again became increasingly blissful as the moment Rio dismissed his shadow, and unlocked his spells to attack, Amy stepped into the void. Avoiding all harm.

For a few breaths of time, only the sound of heavy panting could be heard from the arena, as Rio took a fighting stance, and calmly surveyed his surroundings.

Soon sharp daggers wrapped in the power of space, being invisible, clashed against the wings of angel. Sending streaks of blood and feathers on the arena.

But soon, the flying streamers gathered under Rio’s control and formed a rotating shield like some sort of chakra.

"Stop forcing my hands, Amy. Give up." Rio said as he plucked a feather, and waved his arm over it. Stretching it’s material and turning it into a silvery sword.

"You’re gonna have to find me first, brother." Amy’s voice came from the void, but soon her smirk was suppressed as a darkness crept unto the very core of space, spreading all over. Suppressing and swallowing all that came into it’s path.

Amy waved her fingers, forming portals here and there. Ripping the space and entire arena like a crazy labgeek.

"Tskkkk."

Rio clicked his tongue looking at the dozens of empty portals all around him, glimmering wide like the mouths of a hungry beast. Ready to devour him whole.

"I’ve learned it very recently brother. Be careful, or you might really get sucked into space." Amy joked with pride in her tone. Waving her hand as each portal rained daggers. While simultaneously moving closer to Rio.

For a moment it seemed there was nowhere to escape, no space to slip into, - everything was either collapsing, crumbling, or being cracked open.

Getting serious, is she?

Rio thought with a smile, bending down while his wings unfurled wide. Covering his whole body. Protecting him from every direction.

"You can’t hide forever, brother." Amy mocked, taking this chance to jump through one portal. Appearing right over him and slashing with her sword.

Sparks flew in the air, as Rio’s shields started showing signs of cracks. While his wings started being filled with a tinge of red, showing how bearing all these attacks, and resisting the suction of space, took a toll on him.

"You were always so predictable, my little sister." Rio’s calm but shallow voice came from below, making Amy halt her attacks momentarily. "What did I tell you, when you’re winning, either go all out at once, or don’t get cocky."

Before Amy could make sense of what he meant, or instinctively jump back into her portals, - she watched through the cracks as Rio clenched his fist, darkness swirling across his arm, dying his heavenly sword black. before he stabbed it straight down.

Boooooom

A burst of explosion sent her flying. Nearly knocking the lungs out her throat, and heart out her ears.

Darkness spread all over the arena with Rio as the center, forming an abyssal crater beneath his feet. While every portal Amy summoned earlier seemed to be swallowed up in hell.

"Summoning a black hole brother?" Amy cursed as she wiped the blood off her mouth. Her feet barely stopping at the edge of the arena, as a crown of red mist started glimmering on her forehead.

A few days ago she might’ve struggled to control her chaos without losing her mind, but with all the guidance from the books her mother found, and the wristbands her father gave her this morning - she can finally fight Rio on equal terms.

Without worrying about losing control like before.

"Give up..."

They both spoke at the same time in a serious tone, before shaking their heads with a smile understanding the others intentions.

Amy’s daggers distorted, becoming monstrous claws of pure entropy. Hungry for blood. While Rio’s angelic sword bathed in Nyx’s darkness, oozed the aura of death.

The audience watched eagerly as the two primordial powers of destruction - darkness and chaos, clashed against each other. Trying to erase the others’ existence. And prove their superiority.

A pressure pressed down on every spectator’s chest. Sending chills down their spines. While some bore the discomfort and leaned forward with eager eyes, way too invested in watching the results, while others even struggled to breathe. And flew far away.

Back in arena, the leftover ground beneath both their feet cracked into spirals, and the barriers protecting the arena walls screamed under pressure. Showing faint signs of being broken.

Rio’s dark sword clashed with Amy’s chaos claw. Erupting in elemental sparks before disintegrating together.

The collision ripped the sky apart. Something which swallowed everything at once.

A steam of white rose from the center, particularly visible amidst the hue of dark red and black - and finally it was light.

A blinding light.

An explosion with no sound - but enough power to shatter the arena and all that was around it’s periphery.

If Agnus along with a couple of his followers hadn’t acted personally, none of the nearby audience members would be able to survive the sudden blast.

The jolting vibration shook the very soul of spectators.

Everyone looked towards the now-gone arena whose even ashes didn’t remain in place. What remained there however was a tiny dot of white floating freely.

It was blinding to look at. Making audience eyes burn and close by staring at a mere sight of it. So much so, that even shielding it with hands, or mana didn’t feel enough.

The blinding light consumed everything. Not with suction, fire, or any magic. But with it’s mere existence.

A white hole?

Or a very raw form of annihilation?

The audience screamed seeing the sudden changes. Too shocked to even sit properly.

"Where did they go?"

"Who won?"

"What the hell is that thing?"

"Was that a freaking big bang? Is that how light was born?"

"Damn, why do I feel shivers even after I turned my head and flew so far away?"

"It can’t be targeting me, can it?"

"Aren’t they real siblings? Is a spar really that serious? If I didn’t know any better, I’d say they were both trying to kill each other."

"....or kill us."

Everyone chattered with scrunching half closed half peeking eyes hiding behind their arms. Wondering and questioning what just happened.

And in all it’s curiosity, someone finally noticed something and shouted loudly while pointing fingers at the sky.

"Hey, look up, that’s...."

As his words finished, everyone looked up, watching a figure standing freely in the sky, wings flapping beautifully like an angel. A shining sword in his arms like the one depicted in myths called the judgement of heaven. While the ever encompassing blinding light simply acted as a halo around him. Taking a backseat to make him shine.

The sight was mesmerizing. So much so that for the next few seconds, no one even dared to blink. Let alone gossip, judge, or take pictures.

They all just stared at that figure, feeling an urge to just bow and pray to him.

And who else could it be, besides the world renowned angel...

Rio opened his arm, and next instant the sword disappeared in light, before merging into his wings again. The ’ball of light’ floated as if under some control, until it reached into his palms and stayed there.

Under everyone’s blinding eyes, Rio simply clasped his fingers, covering the light, before his darkness swallowed everything.

Turning the world back to how it was.

As if an illusion had been broken, everyone came back to their senses. Staring at Rio as he slowly landed back into the middle, of where an arena used to be.

As the dust settled, everyone couldn’t help but curiously glance around. Trying to find traces of his opponent. Looking for Amy, wondering if they’d start a volley of another round again.

But to their disappointment, Amy was currently lying on the ground, far away from the boundary line.

Agnus sitting beside her and feeding her pills. Whereas a priest came forward to heal all her injuries.

"Told you Ames, I always win." Rio’s playful voice echoed everywhere, but this time, no matter how much Amy wanted to stand and fight again, she couldn’t bring herself to do anything.

So she just humphed in anger and turned her face away. Acting unconscious like an ostrich.

Anyway if I don’t open my eyes, it’s not me who’s speechless. She thought.
