Chapter 89: Drastic decision
.
The beasts, seeing this sudden action from the enemy, were ready to charge, but right at that moment one of them was suddenly hit by a strange flying object.
It didn’t even have time to let out any scream before a blinding light erupted, followed by a loud explosion that made the entire cave and the connecting tunnel shake.
It was a Third Grade Spirit Sank offensive talisman, and as such, iits effects were anything but small.
The beasts closest to the blast were immediately swept away, throwing the whole place into chaos.
But despite the confusion, those in the back didn’t hesitate,
they charged forward, emerging one by one from the dust that had been kicked up, all headed into the tunnel.
Even the giant centipede in the back didn’t waste any time and joined the hunt.
Yun Hao’s group ran at full speed, and along the way, they occasionally threw attacks backward to try and slow the beast’s down, even just a little.
But despite that, nothing seemed to work, since the centipede that had joined the beasts began using its spiritual energy waves to counter most of those attacks, neutralizing their purpose almost entirely.
Yun Hao was running out of options, but he didn’t give up, not now that they were so close to the exit.
A little farther ahead, the group of injured that had split off earlier to explore different tunnels had mostly regrouped and were now waiting for the rest to return and report.
Their condition had improved a bit during this time, but not by much, as many of them were still struggling just to move.
One of them, who was at the edge of the group, heard strange noises and turned his gaze toward the depths of the main tunnel, frowning as he tried to figure out what was going on.
Just like him, a few others also noticed the commotion coming from that direction, and right as they tried to figure out what it was, they saw a cloud of dust rising in the distance within the darkness of the tunnel, with countless shadowy humanoid figures running toward them.
Everyone looked at each other in confusion, wondering if it was the group of fighters who had gone out earlier, but something about them felt off.
They asked themselves what was happening, and they didn’t have to wait long before they understood.
Soon, their eyes caught sight of an even bigger cloud of dust rising behind the people running toward them.
And the moment they looked more closely at it, their expressions went pale with fear as an overwhelming sense of terror gripped them.
All of them, injured or not, turned around and started running.
They ignored the pain in their limbs and ran for their lives in the opposite direction,
it didn’t matter how bad their condition was, they sprinted with all they had.
Even those missing an arm or a leg launched themselves forward, driven by the sheer terror of death, away from that tunnel.
No one said a word while running, there was no need.
Everyone knew that that massive horde of beasts was nothing short of a death sentence.
Staying here meant ending up in the jaws of those monsters, so no one held back, they all ran for their lives.
Yun Hao had already used up several of his offensive artifacts, slowing the enemies down as much as he could, but now he was running low, and seeing that, he didn’t think twice,
with a powerful burst, he immediately overtook everyone, followed right after by the other three at the fourth stage who trailed behind him.
It was obvious none of them planned to stay behind , not anymore,
not now that escaping the beasts was no longer an option.
It was clear they had decided to go with the most drastic solution, letting his group of subordinates become the prey, at least for the time being.
And in fact, the first victims didn’t take long to appear, as those at the back of the group started to fall one by one into the hands of the monsters,
some brutally crushed, others ending up in the mouths of the countless beasts in the blink of an eye.
The endless screams of the unlucky ones left behind echoed, but that didn’t seem to bother the others.
They were far too busy running for their lives to worry about those who had already fallen into the beasts’ clutches.
Yun Hao, who was now at the very front of the group, finally reached the large space where they had all fallen earlier and from where they had set out.
He already had a plan in mind.
Flying wasn’t an option since the interference was still there, and climbing would’ve been difficult with the beasts behind,
he was sure the centipede wouldn’t let him go
A cold glint flashed in his eyes as he made his decision.
He had kept a First grade Earth Rank attack talisman hidden, and had been waiting for the right moment to use it.
Now that he was almost back at the starting point, he intended to use it to bring down the tunnel on the beasts and seal the passage.
That way, he’d have time to get out.
He hadn’t spared a single thought about how to save the rest of the group,
In his mind, they were just a means to slow down the beasts’ surge.
He was just about to reach the exit and was already getting ready to pull out the talisman.
But just as he stepped out of the tunnel, his steps halted as his field of view suddenly changed.
"Who the f*ck are you?" he said, eyes locking with a large group of people ahead,
all complete strangers to him.
Hearing his words, the group in front oh him clearly got pissed, and right then a man with brown hair and a patchy beard stepped forward, staring at him with an annoyed look.
"Bastard, this should be our line,
Who gave you permission to enter here?"
