.
Seeing the beast’s clear intent to fight, the three stopped chatting and focused more on it.
None of them were weak, and each could quickly assess the enemy’s strength.
Everyone present had already reached the Spirit Realm, and among them, the beast was technically the weakest, having only just stepped into the early stages of Spirit Realm.
That said, none of them underestimated it, especially because they had faced a similar creature before, and thus knew just how terrifying it could become if given the chance.
The creature, unable to resist its battle instincts any longer, opened its massive fanged mouth, and a ball of dark reddish energy began to condense within it.
In just a couple of seconds, it was complete, and in the next moment, an enormous beam of dark red energy shot out, hurtling straight toward Zhao Tianlei, who stood before it.
Upon seeing the sudden attack, Zhao Tianlei didn’t appear concerned and stood his ground, taking the full brunt of the blast.
An enormous explosion erupted in the sky, and where Zhao Tianlei had once stood, now there was a massive sphere of dark red energy, sending out powerful energy ripples in all directions, shaking the ground in the surrounding area.
The range of the attack was anything but small, but even so, neither the woman in red nor the academy headmaster moved.
They simply watched the scene with expressionless faces.
The beast seemed pleased with its attack, but soon its lizard like pupils narrowed even more when it saw that the sphere of dark red energy began to slow its expansion.
Rather than growing endlessly, it stopped at a certain point, as if something was preventing it from advancing further.
Soon, a strange transparent white layer formed around it, and as soon as it appeared, the sphere began to tremble, then shrink, until, before anyone could blink, it had become no bigger than a small marble, still enclosed in that transparent white energy, now resting in the hand of the very man it had been aimed at.
He looked at it with interest before turning his attention back to the beast.
"Looks like even your attacks resemble that being’s," he said as he stepped forward, vanishing from his position and reappearing right next to the creature, striking at its abdomen.
The beast, realizing too late what was happening, tried to react, but in the next moment, it took a heavy blow to the stomach that sent it flying several hundred meters, carving a path of destruction through the forest.
"Let’s take this somewhere more suitable." he said, disappearing once again and reappearing near the creature’s new location.
The other two followed without hesitation, joining the battle.
And so, while the surface battle had just begun, underground, the clash between beasts and humans raged on, with neither side showing any sign of easily giving up.
The only shift occurred in the main battlefield at the center, where the centipede fought.
Yun Hao, poisoned by one of its strikes, had begun to lose strength, and with it, his ability to contain the spread of the toxin through his body.
He had tried multiple times to expel the poison, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t manage it.
The poison was strong, and the centipede’s relentless attacks gave him no time to rest or recover, making it even harder to treat his wound.
The tide of battle had started to turn. Yun Hao was clearly being pushed to his limits by the monstrous beast, and it was likely that the only reason he hadn’t already been devoured was thanks to Lang Huojin, who tried to hold the beast back.
Lang Huojin was weaker than Yun Hao in terms of cultivation, and therefore also weaker than the beast, but by fighting alongside with yun Hao, he had managed to hold on until now.
However, with Yun Hao beginning to falter, he too had started to lose ground.
Seeing that he had no other options left, Yun Hao made a drastic decision.
Clenching his teeth, he quickly circulated his Qi and directed it all toward his left shoulder, where the poison had spread.
He didn’t have the strength to guide and expel it little by little, but he could do one thing, forcefully move it all to a single point, his arm.
Gripping his sword tightly in his right hand, with one decisive movement, he severed his own arm.
Needless to say, the pain was intense, but he had no time to worry about it.
He circulated his Qi and immediately sealed the wound on his right shoulder, finally gaining a bit of relief.
He lifted his gaze toward the giant centipede, which had momentarily been distracted by the mercenary. A surge of murderous intent erupted in Yun Hao’s mind.
"You b*stard... you’ll pay for this," he said.
Now that the poison had been dealt with, he could better control the flow of Qi throughout his body.
He reinforced himself with Qi and, without hesitation, dashed in the opposite direction, speeding across the battlefield and reaching the partially collapsed wall.
But he didn’t stop there.
With a powerful leap, he launched himself at the wall, using the broken sections as footholds, climbing upward at full speed. As he did, a talisman made of smooth dark violet material appeared in his right hand, strange runes etched upon it.
Without wasting time, he channeled Qi into it, activating it instantly. At the same time, he dug his feet into the wall, turning back toward the battlefield below.
He had moved fast. In less than ten seconds, he had reached a height of 200 meters, far from the chaos below.
Looking down at the intense battle, he grimaced before fixing his gaze on a certain spot where a large beast and a human were locked in fierce combat.
A maniacal smile spread across his face as he tightened his grip on the talisman, then hurled it downward with precision, right into the center of the battlefield.
"Let’s see how you survive this."
