Chapter 95: Strange energy
.
He noticed that his Qi was mixed with faint traces of a strange energy, an energy that shouldn’t have been in his body.
Curious and at the same time concerned, he immediately decided to check the source of his Qi, his dantian.
’Could it be that thing?’ he thought, as a certain red pearl surfaced in his mind.
He wondered what had happened to that red mist that had infected him.
Ever since he woke up, he hadn’t felt any trace of it, and because of the critical situation he’d been in back then, he hadn’t had the time to examine his body more thoroughly.
But now it was different, he was finally safe, and he could check it now.
He entered his dantian and immediately sensed that something was wrong.
’This... what the hell happened here?!’ He was alarmed at the strange sight before him.
The space of his dantian, vast and dark with only his cores floating within, had completely changed, replaced by a dense, reddish mist that filled the entire area, making it hard to see anything clearly.
He realized it was the same mist that had attacked him before, but unlike back then, it no longer seemed to have a will of its own.
It was calm, no longer chaotic, as if under control.
He could no longer feel the menacing presence inside it like before, and that fact made him even more alert.
He noticed that among the mist, the faint lights of his distant cores were still present and visible to some degree.
He moved toward that area and quickly noticed how the mist seemed to thin out the closer he got, until it was almost gone around the zone where his cores sat in their circular formation, still linked by their formation bonds.
He wasn’t sure what to do, this was the first time he’d faced something like this, so he was a bit lost.
’It seems to have adapted to its new environment... but why?’
He was deep in thought about what to do, questions flooding his mind.
He didn’t know what had happened here, let alone what might happen later.
But he understood one thing, the mist no longer showed any visible threat toward him, and it really didn’t seem to have the will that had once controlled it.
He wondered if this could be an effect of the Elemental Extremities of Dao Technique.
He had experimented with that technique in the past, but even so, he couldn’t say he knew all of its uses or benefits.
Especially since most of the possible applications had been limited by its deformation.
In this life, it wasn’t wrong to say he was still exploring it, this time, more thoroughly.
’Well, at this point, i might as well give it a shot’ he told himself, deciding on his next move.
Everything in his dantian was a source of energy, for example, the elemental cores were filled with the power of the various elements, used in different ways depending on his will.
Before these cores, however, there had only been condensed Qi infused with the element he had the strongest affinity with and had chosen to cultivate,
and that had been the source of his energy.
Now, though, he had this strange red mist that seemed to fit here perfectly, like a puzzle piece sliding into place, even if it wasn’t necessarily its original spot.
He wondered if he could use this red mist as energy.
The thought wasn’t random, he had examined one of those blood pearls in the past and had felt a powerful vitality within them.
It was the same thing he had sensed when he obtained the pearl in the cave, so he was convinced he could cultivate this red mist.
Still sitting in meditation, he began to slowly circulate the red mist inside his dantian. Soon, it began to flow outward, traveling along the channels he had opened.
He had started cultivating it, and it didn’t take long before he began to feel its effects.
’This... is incredible.’
He couldn’t help but murmur it as he felt the results.
As soon as he let the energy flow into his meridians, he felt his body hit by a tremendous surge of vitality,
it was like drinking two hundred cups of coffee at once, and feeling his whole body bursting with energy, ready to unleash it all.
What made it even more astonishing was that the amount of energy he had drawn out was tiny, just a speck compared to the massive amount still within him.
It was like taking a single grain of rice from an entire sack, incredible to say the least.
And if that wasn’t enough, as soon as the energy filled with a big vitality hit his body, he could feel its healing effects immediately, with his internal injuries beginning to mend at an almost instant pace.
He was surprised and pleased, but at the same time cautious.
He didn’t let himself get carried away and continued to carefully study the energy’s effects on his body.
This went on for nearly an entire hour, and finally, after all that time, the energy was completely consumed, already having healed most of the internal injuries in his body, leaving only the deeper ones, which were clearly showing signs of recovery.
He had kept watch over the whole process and, as far as he could tell, there was nothing wrong.
Everything was fine, no harm, no negative effects, no traces of anything left behind.
This made him breathe a little easier.
’Well, this is unexpected... let’s see if it works for that too.’
Now a bit more confident, he decided to try cultivating with it. So without wasting time, he took another small amount and began to cultivate it.
Soon, he felt another surge of energy flowing through his body once more, this time letting it move freely while gradually refining it.
The amount he’d drawn out was the same as before, so the refining time should have been the same, about an hour, but he quickly realized just how wrong he was.
