CHAPTER 127: CHAPTER 127: TRIPPED UP BY HER

Silas Sutton asked, his tone teasing yet slightly puzzled.

It was obvious he wasn’t pressing for an answer, just purely curious.

Stella Grant heard and sat on the suitcase, thought for a moment and said, "No, you are outstanding."

Stella’s answer was sincere, and Silas Sutton couldn’t help but laugh out loud, "Then why can the other two? But not me?"

Stella remained silent.

Silas Sutton said, "Stella, do you have a bias against me because of family status?"

Stella counted silently for a few seconds, then said plainly, "Silas Sutton, I’ve rejected you, you can’t keep pestering me."

She referred to him as Silas Sutton, not President Sutton, very equal, without any bias towards family status.

With that, she hung up the phone without waiting for Silas Sutton to respond.

Upon hearing no sound from the other end, Silas Sutton moved the phone to take a look.

Seeing the darkened screen, his thin lips curled into a smile and he pinched his brow with a laugh.

After laughing, Silas Sutton’s smile faded, and he leaned back into his chair, speaking to himself with a hint of self-deprecation, "Indeed, people are bound to stumble on the same path..."

He liked her for the first time back then.

And now he liked her for the second time.

He should have kept his distance from her that night.

After saying this, Silas Sutton let out a snort, "Ungrateful wolf."

On Stella’s end, she believed she had made things clear with Silas Sutton.

After spacing out on the suitcase for a bit, she picked up her phone and sent a safety message to Sue Woods, then got up to wash up in the bathroom.

When she came out, she saw Sue Woods’ reply: Say hello to your aunt for me.

Stella: Yeah, I’ll tell her tomorrow.

Sue Woods: Has your aunt’s surgery been scheduled?

Stella: Not yet, I’ll ask Dr. Harrison tomorrow.

Sue Woods: If there’s anything you need help with, just let me know, don’t hold it all in by yourself.

Stella: Don’t worry, I wouldn’t be formal with you.

The two chatted for a while, and Sue Woods mentioned an early morning shoot, and they exchanged goodnights.

In bed, Stella mindlessly scrolled through variety shows, absent-minded and frequently distracted.

She got up and went to the kitchen to heat a cup of milk for herself, leaning against the kitchen marble just as she was about to drink, Silas Sutton’s words from the call suddenly flashed in her mind.

"Stella, I’m moved."

"I’m moved, give me your answer."

At this thought, Stella shook her head briskly as if to shake the voice out of her mind, and then downed the milk in one go.

That night, Stella didn’t sleep as soundly as the night she saw Kenneth Grant in Portmere.

Her dreams were chaotic, and she slept deeply but restlessly.

At four in the morning, she got up to use the bathroom, and then dreamt of Silas Sutton when she went back to sleep.

In the dream, Silas Sutton had shed his usual aloof and charming demeanor and was digging at something with a shovel on an endless lawn.

Stella watched him from afar for a while, then stepped closer out of curiosity and asked, "What are you digging?"

Silas Sutton glanced at her and said, "Isn’t it obvious? Digging a pit."

Stella asked again, "Why are you digging a pit?"

Silas Sutton replied with a faint smile, "Of course, waiting for you to jump."

With that, before Stella could react, he tossed the shovel aside, grabbed her, and jumped into the pit.

In the dream, Stella screamed, and in reality, she was startled awake.

She opened her eyes at 6:10 a.m.

Was it because her thoughts during the day turned into dreams at night?

Or was there some omen in this dream?

Stella lay in bed staring at the ceiling for a while, almost wanting to look up the dream’s interpretation, then chuckled self-mockingly and got up to wash up quickly before heading to the market to buy groceries.

Usually, these tasks were handled by Lynn Adler.

Though she occasionally helped, it wasn’t often.

Mainly because she was busy, secondarily because Lynn Adler doted on her, every time she came home, Lynn wanted nothing more than for her not to lift a finger.

Needless to say, the morning market was cheap and fresh.

Stella wandered around and bought many of Lynn Adler’s favorite foods and fruits.

Since Lynn was still undergoing dialysis, her meat intake was limited, so Stella bought some ribs to cook with more potatoes and cabbage.

After buying everything, Stella went home, washed her hands, and headed straight for the kitchen.

By the time everything was packed up, it was 8:30 in the morning.

Stella carried the things and took a taxi to the hospital. Just arriving at the inpatient department and getting off the elevator, she heard a conversation coming from Lynn Adler’s room.

"Sister, as the saying goes, better safe than sorry. What if something happens to you? You have to make some arrangements for the future."

"Zeke feels shy to say it, so I have to thicken my skin and say it. You know our family’s little Xin recently got a girlfriend, and if all goes well, they’re planning to get married by the end of the year, but the wedding house..."

Lily Harrison hesitated, sitting by the hospital bed, looking expectantly at Lynn Adler, waiting for her to speak.

Lynn Adler was sitting by the bed, though she didn’t speak, but her hand on the blanket was obviously trembling with anger.

Just as Lynn was about to respond, a cold voice sounded from the doorway of the hospital room, "Already talking about marriage, and the wedding house isn’t ready? If the girl finds out, the marriage is likely off."
