Chapter 144: Words Become Prophecy
CHAPTER 144: CHAPTER 144: WORDS BECOME PROPHECY
In a crowd, Silas Sutton always stood out as the center of attention.
Just like now, he lazily reclined in his chair, one hand holding a cigarette on the table, the other fiddling with his phone. A man stood beside him, holding a wine glass and nodding obsequiously.
The man said something, and Silas Sutton lifted his eyelids, a playful glint flashing in his eyes.
The first person to notice Stella Grant was Ben Lawson.
Ben Lawson stood up proactively, brought Stella over to the table, had her sit in his spot, then patted Silas Sutton on the shoulder and said, "Don’t be smug, your keeper is here."
At the sound of Ben’s voice, Silas Sutton turned around, raised an eyebrow when he saw Stella, but didn’t say anything.
Ben’s voice wasn’t too loud or too soft, and everyone at the table heard it clearly.
Everyone knew that Silas Sutton had a lot of gossip surrounding him, but no one had ever seen a woman who could keep him in check.
Hearing Ben’s words, everyone assumed he was joking and watched with amusement.
But in the next second, although Silas Sutton said nothing, he reached out, grabbed the ashtray in front of him, and put out his cigarette in it.
"Have you had lunch?"
Silas Sutton’s voice was low and deep, seemingly careless, but his words showed genuine concern.
Stella Grant answered calmly, "Not yet."
Silas Sutton asked, "What do you want to eat?"
Stella Grant lifted her lips but hadn’t spoken when Silas Sutton suggested, "Shrimp wontons?"
Stella’s eyelids fluttered slightly, surprise flashed in her eyes, but she quickly regained her composure, "Yeah."
Before Silas Sutton could speak again, the man standing beside him volunteered, "I’ll go order shrimp wontons for you, Ma’am."
After speaking, the man turned and left. Silas rolled his shirt sleeves up to his elbows, then served a bowl of soup for Stella, placing it in front of her, "Try this, it’s to clear the heat."
Following these moves by Silas Sutton, the people at the table were left dumbfounded.
Someone gave Ben Lawson a look, inquiring about the situation.
Ben Lawson said nothing, kept silent, and kicked the man sitting beside Silas Sutton’s left hand, "Can’t you see what’s going on?"
The other man was startled, instantly understanding that Ben wanted him to give up his seat. He turned to the man with dyed yellow hair beside him, "Did you hear what Ben said? Can’t you see what’s going on?"
The young man in his early twenties grinned cheekily as he shifted aside, muttering, "In this world, it’s truly big fish eat small fish, and small fish eat shrimps."
Ben Lawson, "Give up two seats."
The young man looked up, noticed Sue Woods still standing at the door, gestured an ’OK’ sign, and moved aside.
Sue Woods smoothly took a seat next to Ben Lawson. She didn’t recognize anyone at the table, turned her head, and asked in a voice only the two of them could hear, "What kind of occasion is this?"
Ben Lawson, being uncharacteristically gentlemanly, poured her a glass of juice, "Couldn’t you tell? It’s an Arhat Game."
Arhat Game, a table full of men.
Sue Woods frowned, "I’m not asking about this occasion, I’m asking you..."
Ben Lawson interrupted her, "Later, I want a bowl of lamb noodles with scallions."
Sue Woods was stumped, forgot what she wanted to ask, and finally squeezed out a sentence, "Lambs are so cute, is it really okay for you to eat them all the time?"
Ben Lawson, "Yes, the lamb agrees."
Sue Woods, "..."
While the two mumbled to each other, Stella Grant wasn’t idle either. She lowered her voice, curiously asking, "Someone wants to introduce you to a girlfriend?"
Silas Sutton leisurely picked some food for Stella with his chopsticks, "Do I need someone to introduce me to a girlfriend?"
Stella Grant, "Then what did Mr. Lawson want me to help you with?"
Silas Sutton teased, "You believe everything he says?"
Stella Grant was stumped.
Silas Sutton’s thin lips curled slightly, "Do you think every man is as reliable as I am when they speak?"
Stella Grant went from stumped to speechless.
While the two were talking, the private room door was suddenly pushed open from the outside. The man who had just ordered wontons for Stella walked in with an embarrassed expression, followed by Charlotte Shelby, dressed in a breezy outfit of shorts and a tank top.
Charlotte Shelby entered the room smiling, but her expression changed dramatically when she saw Stella Grant beside Silas Sutton, her face instantly darkening.
