Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!
Chapter 146: Better to Rely on Each Other for Warmth
CHAPTER 146: CHAPTER 146: BETTER TO RELY ON EACH OTHER FOR WARMTH
Faced with Silas Sutton’s flirtatious and playful gesture, Stella Grant neither dodged nor avoided it.
After swallowing the wonton, the mist in her eyes dissipated a bit, and her red lips moved slightly, "President Sutton, I’ve taken a bullet for you this time, how can you repay kindness with enmity?"
Silas Sutton raised his eyebrows slightly, "How is marrying me repaying kindness with enmity? It’s a blessing that so many people beg for but can’t obtain."
Stella lowered her head and softly replied, "It’s truly a tremendous wealth."
Silas touched his lower lip and laughed, but did not respond or refute.
After the meal, the young yellow-haired guy suggested treating everyone to a full-service bath and massage.
Someone smacked him on the back of the head, "With the sister-in-law present, what kind of full-service are you talking about? You look more like a dragon to me."
The young yellow-haired guy said, "Am I that highly regarded in your heart?"
The other person replied, "Yeah, I’ve been hoping you’d turn into a dragon all these years."
While these two were bantering, Stella lowered her voice to tell Silas, "If there’s nothing else, Sue Woods and I will head back first."
Not being part of the same crowd, having them there was awkward for everyone, including themselves.
Just as Stella finished speaking, Ben Lawson was about to persuade them to stay, but Silas subtly shook his head at him.
Ben choked back what he was going to say and instead asked, "Do you need me to call a car for you?"
Stella smiled, "No need, I drove myself here."
Ben said, "Alright, drive safely."
Stella nodded and left with Sue.
As he watched the two leave the private room, Ben switched seats to sit in front of Silas, resting one foot on the crossbar of his chair, and teased, "What’s going on? Didn’t you say before you didn’t dare make a move for fear of harming her?"
Silas leaned back in his chair, lit a cigarette, and his expression was inscrutable, "I suddenly realized something."
Ben was curious, "What did you realize?"
Silas bit on the cigarette butt and said, "Since both of us are living unhappily, why not try turning two negatives into a positive?"
He lived cautiously in the Sutton Family, and Stella’s life was like standing on the edge of a cliff.
Why not rely on each other for warmth, maybe it could bring about some unexpected fun.
To Silas’s remarks, Ben offered no comment, but quipped, "You want to turn two negatives into a positive, but is Stella willing?"
Silas chuckled, "How do you know she isn’t willing?"
Ben mocked, "At least up until now, I haven’t seen any signs she is."
Silas said, "Her avoiding doesn’t mean she isn’t swayed."
Ben questioned, "Are you that confident?"
Silas flicked the ash from the cigarette in his mouth, tapping it with his slender fingertip, and the ash fell to the ground, "Remember how she dealt with those who tried to pressure her before?"
Ben suddenly realized.
Stella had cracked that guy’s head open.
On the other side, Stella was driving Sue away from the hotel.
Having just had lunch, Stella was unsure if Sue wanted to come back to the apartment with her or go home, so she asked, "Are you heading home now or coming with me?"
Sue was unequivocal, "Of course, I’m going with you. I haven’t had a chance to mooch a meal off you yet."
Stella smiled, "Already hungry after just eating?"
Sue said, "Was that really eating? Ever since Charlotte Shelby showed up, I’ve been on edge till the end of the meal, afraid she would come in and start something with you."
After speaking, before Stella could respond, she added, "But it’s a good thing she did come in, otherwise that weirdo Ben would be eating his beloved onion lamb noodle soup again."
Talking about Ben’s obsession with onion lamb noodle soup made Stella want to laugh.
Sue looked at her side profile, barely containing her laughter, and said, "Don’t you think Ben reminds you of someone? Like our dormmate from college."
Stella said, "Oscar?"
Sue nodded, mimicking perfectly, "I still remember once when we went to eat spicy hot pot outside the school gate, she meant to say no spice, no hot, but it came out wrong, ’Big Sis, a bowl of spicy hot pot, no spice, no hot, no pot.’
Stella’s eyebrows arched in a pretty curve, "Yeah, and I remember the spicy hot pot lady said, ’Then are you planning to eat the bowl?’
Talking about college days, the two fell into reminiscence simultaneously.
Everyone has a phase in life that becomes a turning point.
Stella had hers, and Sue had hers too.
The car arrived at Stella’s apartment, and both got out, one on each side. After walking a few steps, Stella’s phone suddenly rang in her pocket.
Stella took out her phone and answered, "Hello, this is she."
The voice on the other end was distorted, "Manager Grant, can I bother you with a small favor?"
