Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!
Chapter 41: Different Standpoints
CHAPTER 41: CHAPTER 41: DIFFERENT STANDPOINTS
Playing wildly or not, Stella Grant couldn’t define it, nor could she elaborate.
But one thing Stella was very clear about now was that she didn’t want to chat with Sue Woods anymore, not even a word.
Stella’s thoughts and actions were synchronous: Goodbye, goodnight.
Sue Woods: Come on, it’s a long night, and I’m feeding mosquitoes at the hotel entrance. Chat with me a bit more.
Stella doesn’t respond.
Sue Woods: Seriously, girl, are you really at Silas Sutton’s place??
Stella still doesn’t respond.
Sue Woods: Stella, don’t do something stupid like coming out of the wolf’s den and going into the tiger’s mouth!!
Stella: You keep your watch.
Sue Woods: Guess who I’m watching?
Stella: If you want to say it, just say it.
Sue Woods: Ben Lawson, Silas Sutton’s childhood friend.
Sue Woods followed up quickly with: Two of a kind.
Perhaps chatting with Sue Woods relaxed her mood a bit; after closing her phone, Stella stared at the ceiling lamp for a while and gradually fell asleep.
This sleep wasn’t entirely restful for Stella.
After all, being in someone else’s house, there’s always some alertness in her heart.
Upon awakening, Stella hadn’t fully regained her clarity when she saw Silas Sutton sitting on the opposite sofa, looking at his phone.
Stella hesitated for a moment, then quickly sat up, and once seated, she spoke, "President Sutton."
Silas Sutton lifted his eyelids, glancing at her with no discernible changes in his eyes, "Awake."
Stella, "Yes."
Silas Sutton asked, "Was it me who called you last night?"
Stella replied truthfully, "Yes."
Silas Sutton said, "Got a bit confused, I originally wanted to call Forrest Keller."
Stella nodded, "I know, when you called me, you were yelling for Forrest Keller."
Immediately after processing this, Stella suddenly noticed the phone in Silas Sutton’s hand.
——It wasn’t Silas Sutton’s phone, it was hers!!
Sensing alarm bells in her heart, as Stella was about to say something, Silas Sutton rotated the phone in his hand and placed it onto the coffee table, "Who’s sending you threatening messages?"
Stella was stunned for a few seconds, lowered her gaze, seeing an unfamiliar message on the phone screen: Do you think blocking me solves it? Stella, seems like you’re looking for trouble.
Stella could guess who sent the message.
She could guess, but she wasn’t sure.
Seeing her reading the message but not speaking, Silas Sutton tapped the nearly black phone screen twice with his slender fingers, "Do you know who it is?"
Stella raised her eyes to meet Silas Sutton’s gaze, unable to decipher his intentions, but still answered honestly, "I don’t know who it is, but this person texted me with another number yesterday, and I blocked them."
Silas Sutton raised his eyebrows, his expression unreadable, "Encountering such situations, you don’t think to report it? Does blocking really help?"
Silas Sutton, dressed in a blue robe, seemed lazy but emanated a strong presence.
Stella was silent for a moment, then spoke softly, "President Sutton, for someone like you, encountering a threat only requires considering two things, either report it or find someone to deal with it, but for an ordinary person like me, we first have to weigh the pros and cons when threatened."
After yesterday, Stella had figured out a lot.
Silas Sutton, someone she couldn’t avoid or escape from, so she’d face him frankly.
Upon hearing Stella’s words, Silas Sutton’s long eyes squinted slightly, showing some faint displeasure.
Stella shifted her gaze away from his eyes, reached for her phone, "People always say life is more important than money, but for those at the bottom, the two are not comparable at all."
Silas Sutton’s voice was low, "Are you saying money is more important than safety?"
Stella maintained an upright posture, "An epidemic paused many cities, yet there are many at the bottom who desperately find ways to make money; do you think they’re not afraid of dying?"
After speaking, Stella watched Silas Sutton’s expression, then took a deep breath and continued, "It’s not that they aren’t afraid of dying; it’s that starving and dying of illness both lead to death, the epidemic is an unknown fear, but starving is an urgent crisis."
Stella spoke calmly, and Silas Sutton’s half-closed eyes became deep with thought.
As Stella’s words fell, the atmosphere grew tense.
After about a minute or so, Silas Sutton picked up the phone beside him and dialed out.
Once connected, Silas Sutton spoke with a sharp tone, "Help me investigate someone."
