Chapter 559: Trying to Steal a Chicken but Losing the Rice
CHAPTER 559: CHAPTER 559: TRYING TO STEAL A CHICKEN BUT LOSING THE RICE
With the addition of Xiahou Jun and the other two, the battle became even more one-sided.
Nan ZaiXu, hidden in the shadows, had initially planned to rush out and kill one or two, just for show, hoping Xia Yanbing and the others would appreciate his help.
But Xiahou Jun and his companions didn’t give him a chance; each like a harbinger of death, killed with a single move, without any excess motion. By the time Nan ZaiXu regained his senses, his men were all dead, corpses scattered everywhere, not a single one left breathing.
Nan ZaiXu’s face was so dark it seemed like it could drip water.
He then turned his gaze to Gong Lie in the air, who was battling Yun Mengyao, his expression conflicted and hesitant. Gong Lie was his trusted aide, a Nascent Soul Realm master. Was it worth losing Gong Lie to recruit young talents from the ranking?
But soon, Nan ZaiXu’s eyes settled, a cold light flashing.
After all, Gong Lie was getting older, with limited future potential. Xiahou Jun and his companions were in their prime, full of promise. Giving up on Gong Lie to gain Xiahou Jun and the others’ allegiance was a worthwhile trade.
If Gong Lie knew Nan ZaiXu’s thoughts, he would surely be heartbroken.
This also revealed Nan ZaiXu’s alarming coldness, willing to abandon even his trusted aides.
However, just as Nan ZaiXu decided and took a step forward, he froze on the spot.
Two figures streaked through the sky like lightning.
It was Mo Buwen and the Flower Demon.
This plan was originally devised by the three of them; pretending their men were attacking Xia Yanbing and others so they could rush to their aid, earning Xia Yanbing’s gratitude, and claiming to be close friends of Qin Yi.
Do not underestimate this identity. Being recognized as Qin Yi’s close friend, along with their formidable cultivation, would make recruiting young talents much easier.
However, Nan ZaiXu betrayed their alliance and tried to rush ahead, secretly implementing the plan without Mo Buwen and the Flower Demon.
Mo Buwen and the Flower Demon were furious when they got the news and rushed over, immediately recognizing that the one fighting Yun Mengyao was Nan ZaiXu’s aide, Gong Lie, and they didn’t hesitate to intervene.
Gong Lie raised his hand, and a surge of power turned into a stream, rushing towards Yun Mengyao like crashing waves.
Mo Buwen raised his hand, a palm wind howling, directly shattering Gong Lie’s attack.
"How dare you come to brother Qin Yi’s house to cause trouble," the Flower Demon’s voice was sweet but intimidating, surrounded by pink air currents, as she raised her hand, and pink petals gathered into a dragon, sweeping towards Gong Lie.
Gong Lie’s face changed drastically, striking with several palms, but the petal dragon destroyed the palm wind.
Gong Lie was only at the Nascent Soul early stage, while the Flower Demon’s cultivation was unfathomable to him.
The petal dragon instantly coiled around Gong Lie.
Crack...!
The dragon body of petals tightened, crushing most of Gong Lie’s bones, nearly cutting him in half.
Gong Lie let out a heartrending scream, blood frothing from his mouth mixed with fragments of his internal organs.
"Sister Yun, are you alright?" the Flower Demon turned to ask concernedly.
Yun Mengyao paused, then smiled gently, saying, "I’m fine, thank you both for rescuing me."
"We’re all friends of Qin Yi, it’s our duty to help. We stayed in Yinfeng City to prevent enemies from coming," Mo Buwen said with a smile.
The Flower Demon casually struck Gong Lie from the air.
"Sister Yun, let’s go down and interrogate, see who sent these people?"
Bang!
As soon as the Flower Demon finished speaking, there was an explosion below, and Gong Lie hit the ground, cracking the hard concrete. A Nascent Soul Realm master, after all—anyone else falling from such a height would have been reduced to a bloody pulp.
Yun Mengyao nodded, "I’d like to know who this person is too."
Mo Buwen and the Flower Demon exchanged a knowing look, they obviously knew who Gong Lie worked for, but it would be more interesting if Yun Mengyao found out on her own.
The two of them sneered internally, Nan ZaiXu, you thought you could escape unscathed, but we’ll soon show you what it means to lose everything.
However, just as Gong Lie hit the ground, Nan ZaiXu moved, dashing out from the darkness as fast as lightning.
"Cowardly scoundrel, daring to be rampant here,"
Nan ZaiXu shouted angrily, lifting a palm, white light surged, and with a boom, the concrete broke apart, cracks spreading, and Gong Lie was smashed into a pulp, dead beyond doubt.
Gong Lie had fallen from a great height, his organs ruptured, and was hanging by a thread, hopeful that the Young Master would save him. He never imagined that Nan ZaiXu’s arrival was not to save but to kill him.
A hint of smugness flickered in Nan ZaiXu’s eyes, knowing what the other side intended when the Flower Demon spared Gong Lie. If Xia Yanbing and the others found out these people were sent by him, he would lose his share of the spoils and be hunted by the ranking’s young elites.
So, Gong Lie had to die; only dead men can keep secrets.
Yun Mengyao and the others landed, seeing the very dead Gong Lie, their expressions all darkened.
The Flower Demon and Mo Buwen exchanged a glance, almost grinding their teeth to pieces. They hadn’t expected Nan ZaiXu to be so ruthless, killing his aide without the slightest hesitation.
"Miss Xia, are you all alright? I rushed over as soon as I heard but was still a bit late." Nan ZaiXu’s face was full of anger and righteous indignation.
The Flower Demon and Mo Buwen’s eyes were cold; Nan ZaiXu was truly the level of a movie emperor. They had intended to have Gong Lie expose Nan ZaiXu, but hadn’t expected him to be so ruthless, leaving no one to testify.
Xia Yanbing bowed slightly, "Thank you, Young Master Nan, for coming to our rescue."
"Brother Nan arrived just at the right moment, the last living one was killed too, leaving no one to uncover these people’s origins anymore," the Flower Demon said seemingly absent-mindedly, but with implied meaning upon closer inspection.
Nan ZaiXu’s face stiffened, then he chuckled dryly, "I apologize. Concern led me to act rashly, only caring for your safety. Not realizing this person was still alive, I added another palm, really without thinking."
Mo Buwen sneered, "Just afraid some people did it on purpose, didn’t they?"
Nan ZaiXu’s face darkened, "Brother Mo, what do you mean by this? Are you suspecting that I killed to silence them?"
"Brother Nan, no need to get angry, it was just a casual remark, no intention behind it, why get so worked up?" Mo Buwen smilingly replied.
Nan ZaiXu’s face turned gloomy, "Rest assured, since it’s my break in the chain of clues, give me time, and I’ll definitely find out who sent these people."
"Hey, this person looks so familiar, like brother Nan’s aide Gong Lie," the Flower Demon suddenly remarked.
Nan ZaiXu’s heart skipped a beat, his face changed.
The Flower Demon, however, giggled, "Brother Nan, don’t be angry, I was joking. This person has been turned to mush by you, how could anyone recognize them?"
"That joke is not funny at all, if everyone misunderstands, how could I face it?" Nan ZaiXu’s face turned blue, a strong murderous intent flashed in his eyes.
