Lord Evolution: Starting With SS-rank Skills
Chapter 305: History of the Cult of ember justice
CHAPTER 305: HISTORY OF THE CULT OF EMBER JUSTICE
The next morning, Rowan woke up pretty early and left the house to stroll around the village a little bit.
Black Drifter in its miniature form rested on his shoulder, and Blaze walked beside him.
The three of them strolled around the village where most of the villagers were still asleep.
"Rowan, you are up so early?"
Dragun spotted the three of them and greeted them.
Rowan nodded in response.
"I have something that would interest you, come take a look," Dragun invited him into his house.
When he arrived inside, he was shocked to see dozens of extraordinary-looking scrolls and books resting around the room.
With his inspection skill, Rowan checked the description of the scrolls and was surprised to find that each of the scrolls contained either a skill or a spell. Not a single one was ordinary.
While inspecting them, he even spotted some of rare elements like dark, light, blood, and even summoning!
"Where did you get all these from?" Rowan asked, interest in his voice.
He picked one of the scrolls on the table and studied the skill written on it. Unfortunately, it was just a C-rank beast taming scroll, which was far weaker than his own SS-rank beast taming skill.
"I extracted them from the corpse of the deceased in our battle with the cult of ember justice. As a former wanderer, I simply could not let go of them." Dragun responded with a smile.
Rowan nodded his head.
’This is great, it would cost me a lot of gold to purchase most of the skills and spells in this place. I never thought of something like this. If I had known, with my superior movement speed I would have been able to collect more spells,’ Rowan thought with a regretful expression on his face.
"There are so many fire magic spells here, in fact, any affinity you want, as long as it is not divine spells, you can find them here. Look, this one here is a spirit magic spell, I kept it aside for Riela," Dragun grabbed a scroll and passed it to Rowan.
Rowan read the details of the scroll which was titled [ Spirit Servants ].
It allows the wielder to summon weak spirit to complete simple tasks. It could be categorized as a support spell.
Rowan knew that it would go a long way for Riela, so he stored them in his inventory.
"I would like to go through all of them and find the ones I need," Rowan told Dragun.
"Feel free, that was the reason I called you here."
Rowan nodded and proceeded to scan all the scrolls in the room looking for the perfect skills and spells.
There were different categories of skills and spells. There was even a spell that removes all sorts of acne from the faces of the user, the spell required no affinity to cast.
There were also skills like midwifery and animal understanding.
It took Rowan about two hours to finish scanning and separating the ones he needed.
When he was done, it was already morning and the morning sun had already found its place in the sky.
The sound of doors opening and people greeting each other could be heard.
"How long would it take you to learn and master all these?"
Rowan had gathered around 30 scrolls. Dragun wondered how one person would be able to master all of that.
"Learning all these are not that difficult. If I’m serious I can learn all of them in a few days," Rowan replied nonchalantly.
Dragun looked at him, puzzled. It would take a genius mage at least five years to learn and master thirty spells, it would even take decades if those spells were of rare elements like light, darkness and others. But Rowan claimed he could learn them in a few days, how was that even possible?
While he was lost in thoughts, Rowan gathered all the scrolls he needed and stored them in his inventory.
Then he turned to Dragun and asked the question bothering him, "Tell me everything you know about the cult of ember justice."
Dragun’s expression dampened at the mention of the cult. He fell silent for a few seconds before responding in a low tone, "Why do you want to know about the cult?"
"Do I need a reason to know about the cult that threatened my life and the life of my people?" Rowan asked with a frown.
"No, no... I was just asking," Dragun quickly responded before letting out a sigh and responded in a solemn tone, "The cult of ember justice is a cult that should’ve never existed."
"It was created a few centuries ago by a group of dark mages who seek more knowledge about the worlds beyond."
"They were magic scholar who have mastered magic pass the available levels and seek more. With their collective knowledge, they were able to develop most of the branches of magic available today in magic academies across the world."
"But as they continued acquiring and building more knowledge, darkness breed in their midst and grew. Each generation of cultist created a bigger goal and sort by all means to achieve them."
"The current goal of the cult is the dark seed ritual, a ritual that would make each members of the cult a hundred times more powerful. A ritual that would allow the archmages become supreme mage, a level only recorded twice in history."
Dragun continued narrating the history of the cult of ember justice to Rowan.
He spoke about all the evil things the cult had done to ensure the success of the dark seed ritual. Each deeds mentioned causes Rowan eyes to widen in surprise and disgust.
’This is very serious. If they succeed in their ritual, they would become the supreme ruler of this world. Even if empires rise up against them, they would be vanquished easily.’ Rowan thought with a frown on his face.
He still recalled the masked man.
A being whose presence caused darkness to bow and bend to his will. His gaze laced with power, one that made Rowan shiver each time he recalled them.
Rowan bade Dragun farewell and left the room with troubled thoughts in his mind — He needed to increase his strength as soon as he could before that man shows up again, and he would do so by any means.
