Lord Evolution: Starting With SS-rank Skills
Chapter 315: Demon Lair (2/)
Before Rowan could even come to terms with his failed attack, the Ogramon let out a furious growl and swung the greatsword in his direction, creating a terrifying swooshing sound.
"Fuck!" Rowan cursed, immediately holding his Soul Harvester in a defensive manner.
BOOM! The explosive sound of the greatsword clashing with his Soul Harvester reverberated across the colossal setting. The sheer force of the swing sent Rowan flying through the air like a ragdoll, clashing and rolling on the ground several times before he managed to regain his footing. He felt sore all over his body.
GROWL! Unfortunately, the demon was smart enough not to let Rowan regain his composure. It started charging towards his new position, its large eye shining with killing intent.
"These guys are strong! But how the fuck do they not have a single special skill?" Rowan wondered as he acted rapidly and sprinted away from his current position, barely evading the powerful smash of the Ogramon.
"I expected them to simply have brute strength and no single ability," Rowan gritted his teeth and thought. "Guess I was foolish to think that."
SMASH! The Ogramon leapt towards him as he sprinted and smashed the ground once more, leaving a spiderweb of cracks on the hardened red ground.
Meanwhile, D'andre's eyes furrowed. "How?"
The numerous magic bullets shooting at the small group of Ogramons charging in his direction seemed to be ineffective. The bullets sharply pierced through the bodies of the Ogramons, but they left no wound and simply dissipated. It was as though the bodies of the Ogramons absorbed the attacks.
They continued moving towards him with no single ounce of pain displayed in their eyes. Their bloodlust only seemed to grow stronger after every failed attack.
"Fuck!" D'andre barked inwardly.
He stretched his hands and began chanting another spell.
Afterward, a large mass of light magic appeared, and with a simple motion, it blasted towards the nearest Ogramon.
The sound of the light-magic ball tearing through the torso of the Ogramon could be heard, accompanied by a low growl.
A smile appeared on D'andre's face as he spotted the gaping hole that had appeared on the demon's stomach.
But his smile gradually disappeared when he noticed that the hole was covering up.
"This... they can regenerate. Fuck! This would be even more difficult than expected," D'andre cursed.
Nevertheless, he quickly moved backward away from the other Ogramons advancing towards him, and then he activated yet another light-magic ball the size of the previous one and targeted the same one he had attacked earlier.
His plan: to attack a single opponent continuously, reducing the potency of its regenerating ability.
BOOM! BOOM! He hurled multiple light-magic balls at a single Ogramon while cautiously avoiding the others.
D'andre attacked different points of the demon's body: abdomen, head, leg, hands... everywhere. As there were many places to regenerate, the regeneration of each part became several times more sluggish.
CLANG!
While D'andre fixed his attack pattern to his advantage, Rowan was still having a hard time with his first opponent.
Once again, their blades clashed. The length of the demon's blade was the same height as Rowan. The sheer force released from each swing was lethal and heavy. Rowan could feel his hands vibrating after every successful clash.
"I'm lucky the Soul Harvester is durable. If not, I would be swordless by now," he thought.
At the same time, the blade of the Ogramon retracted back into its body as it moved towards Rowan and began smashing.
Currently, there were dozens of cracked dents on the ground, indicating the positions the Ogramon had attempted to crush Rowan to death. It was only thanks to Rowan's swiftness that he had been able to remain alive until now.
"Its attacks are very strong, but its defense is way stronger. It is almost as though it has eyes all around its body. Even when I tried to land a sneak attack, it would swiftly twist its body in the direction of the attack and avoid it. They are leagues above monsters. Just like in the game," Rowan thought as he ran away and avoided multiple smash attacks sent at him.
As he ran in the direction of the other Ogramons, a few of which were stagnant, observing the fights of their pairs, he spotted the one D'andre was firing multiple light-magic balls at. He noticed how the holes on its body were slowly regenerating.
"They can even regenerate," he thought. "I wish I could copy their regeneration skill. Unfortunately, I can't copy a skill that I can't see."
Rowan was saddened by the fact that he could not obtain such a potent ability for himself. Nevertheless, he could not dwell on that thought.
SMASH! Once again, the Ogramon smashed angrily.
This time, Rowan quickly acted as he was close to the wall. He swiftly climbed up the wall, and when he reached a considerable height, he leapt towards the huge head of the Ogramon.
"I need to take this chance while it is still disoriented from a missed attack," he thought.
With that intention, Rowan stabbed his Soul Harvester into the huge eye of the Ogramon. The eye burst open and released red liquid, causing the Ogramon to let out a loud cry.
But Rowan was not done. He had been trying to target the eyes from the beginning, but the Ogramon had always been fast and several steps ahead. Now that he had gotten his chance, he had to use it to his advantage before the Ogramon began regenerating.
He leapt towards the wall and zipped back to the head of the demon. He lifted his blade as his eyes found its neck. Then without a care, he decapitated the monster, its heavy head landing on the ground with a resounding thud.
A few seconds after the head dropped, the arteries on the demon's neck began to elongate and weave together—it was regenerating.
Fortunately, Rowan was not done.
He gripped the Soul Harvester and sprinted in a zigzag pattern across the torso of the huge demon.
His blade slashed and sliced rapidly. In a few seconds, he had left dozens of bloody cuts on the demon's body, reducing its regenerative ability.
Then, with the last slicing motion, Rowan landed coolly on the ground behind it.
The demon's body stopped regenerating. Cracks spread from its feet and covered its whole body. A little blood came out, then a lot more. With a loud bang, the demon exploded into many bloody pieces. Its limbs and body parts flew everywhere, and its blood joined the redness on the ground.
GROWL! GROWL!
