Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth
Chapter 65: Invitation
Luke had taken two days off.
His itinerary was packed.
Early the next morning, he rushed to the Muen Warehouse Center.
Upon seeing Luke, the manager of the Muen Storage Center, Boreet, with his big belly, waddled out, "Officer Luke, what brings you here again?"
"Not welcome?"
"No, that's not what I meant." Boreet forced a sheepish smile.
The last time the police were here, the area around Warehouse 53 was cordoned off.
Warehouse 53 was still sealed off, and many customers were aware of the body hidden in the warehouse, which severely affected the company's business.
Was he not scared?
Welcome, my foot!
"I am here today for personal reasons, don't you do business with police officers?"
"We do, of course we do." Boreet breathed a sigh of relief, who would want to turn away money, "Are you looking to rent a warehouse?"
Luke didn't have many possessions, and besides, he still had his own room at his mother's house, so why waste the money?
"Last time I was here, I remember you mentioned there was an auction of abandoned warehouses? I am quite interested."
Boreet smiled, this time more relaxed, "We do have that service, but auctions aren't daily. They happen sporadically, with a grouping of auctions every so often.
If you want to participate, I can notify you in advance about the next auction."
"Are there any requirements to participate in the auction, like a guarantee or something?"
"No need for a guarantee, nor referrals, just show up on the day of the auction, pay a $100 cleaning deposit, and you can bid along with the other hunters."
"Hunters?"
"Many treasure hunters make a living this way, and it has become an industry. Quite a few lucky folks have found treasures in the warehouses and achieved financial freedom."
Luke was somewhat tempted, "Anything else I should be aware of?"
"There are some bidding rules and details. The auctioneer will explain them at the time. Just pay attention, and you'll be fine."
"I understand, thank you." The two exchanged business cards.
Luke left the storage center, as he had other things to attend to.
At six o'clock in the evening.
Kwiss Law Firm.
A voluptuous brunette walked out of the building, dressed in a white V-neck shirt and a green miniskirt with nude stockings, young and fashionable, accentuating her feminine charm.
Before leaving work, Daisy had specifically changed into a new outfit and stood by the street, a stunning sight to behold.
She glanced at her watch, her eyes scanning the surroundings as if waiting for something.
"Ring-ring"
Daisy's phone rang, she looked down to see it was Luke's number, "Hello, have you arrived?"
"I have."
"I'm already downstairs, why don't I see you?" Daisy's blue eyes looked around.
A stretch Rolls-Royce stopped by the roadside, and the driver hurried to open the back door. Luke got out of the car, "Miss Daisy, are you ready for tonight's journey?"
Daisy, looking at the Rolls-Royce, exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, are you serious?"
"Of course." Luke took her hand and together they got into the Rolls-Royce.
The interior of the car was orange, the roof adorned with stars, and screens separated the front and back seats, creating a private space in the back.
Luke took a bottle of red wine from the cabinet, poured a glass, and handed it to Daisy.
Daisy took a sip of the wine, "Did you win the lottery?"
"No, my money might not be plentiful, but I'm willing to spend every penny on you."
"I just realized, Officer Luke is not only good at solving cases but also quite skilled at charming girls."
"I never charm girls. It's all about following my heart, doing what I like with the person I like."
Daisy and Luke clinked their glasses, "I'm a bit excited, where are we heading next?"
"You won't be disappointed," Luke said as he took her delicate left hand and kissed the back of it.
The car was driving slowly and steadily, allowing them to drink and chat inside without any disturbance.
Half an hour later, the car arrived at the seaside pier.
They got out of the car, and in the distance, the setting sun met the sea—creating a picturesque view.
Daisy guessed, "Do you want to take me to watch the sunset by the sea?"
Luke didn't answer, but took her hand and walked forward where a white luxury cruise ship was moored not far away.
After verifying their identities, they boarded the cruise ship.
The cruise ship, named the Tasmira, was 100 meters long, 18 meters wide, and 23 meters tall, fully equipped with a restaurant, swimming pool, spa, and other luxurious amenities.
At seven in the evening, the cruise ship set sail on time for sunset viewing.
The voyage lasted for one night and one day.
The remnants of the sunset cast a golden shimmer across the sea, the gentle sea breeze, and even the seagulls appeared to be gilded in gold.
Luke held Daisy's slender waist, surrounded by beauty—people, scenery, and mood—all were perfect. This was what life should be.
Daisy was also intoxicated by the stunning scene before her, involuntarily leaning into Luke's embrace as she admired the serene sunset over the ocean.
The sky gradually darkened.
Luke led Daisy around the ship before they returned to their room on the cruise.
The cruise ship had four levels, and Luke had booked a luxury suite with a view on the topmost level. The room had large, robust floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing them to see the ocean view from their bed, and the balcony outside seemed like a private observatory.
They ordered room service and had a candlelit dinner on the balcony.
The dinner was seafood-themed with lobster, abalone, tuna, and sea snails—all fresh and fitting for the setting.
Enjoying the candlelit dinner, blowing in the sea breeze, and viewing the ocean, they chatted happily.
After dinner, Daisy stood on the balcony where the sea breeze was a bit cooler, rubbing her arms with her hands.
Luke approached and wrapped her in his arms.
The atmosphere grew more intimate.
Daisy turned around, and they embraced each other.
Late at night, embracing on the vast ocean brought an indescribable romance.
The sea breeze blew, the ocean waves surged. (This part omitted a thousand words, which were censored.)
The next morning.
Luke slowly woke up and glanced at Daisy beside him.
The sunlight fell on them like a perfect piece of art.
Recalling the wild passion of the last night, he gently caressed her cheek.
"Hmm," Daisy murmured softly, slowly opening her eyes and touching Luke's beard.
Luke slipped his hand under the blanket, making Daisy giggle playfully.
An hour later.
Daisy, with a blush on her cheeks, looked out at the rising sun, "Didn't you want to show me the sunrise? Isn't it too late now?"
Luke smiled, "Then let's watch the sunset again."
Daisy turned to face Luke, "Spending so much money to go on a cruise, do you plan to just lie in bed the whole time?"
Luke chuckled, "You are much more fun than the cruise."
Daisy was both annoyed and amused.
She got out of bed, revealing her beautiful figure, and slipped on a bathrobe, "I don't want to waste this beautiful ocean view."
Luke also felt a bit hungry; he dressed and joined Daisy for breakfast.
The couple spent a leisurely afternoon on the cruise ship.
Lying on deck chairs, they enjoyed the sea breeze and scenery, sipping beer while fish leaped from the ocean and seagulls swooped across the sky, as if the whole world had slowed down.
