On the way, Luke was particularly attentive and noticed that no one was following him.

When he opened the door, Li Zhaofeng and the little chubby one were watching TV in the living room.

Li Zhaofeng stood up and said, "Why are you back so late?"

"I had a long chat with Uncle."

"Have you had dinner?"

"Not yet." Luke was actually quite hungry.

"Go wash up, I'll heat the food." Li Zhaofeng said to his younger son, "Your brother's back, don't worry. You should go to bed too."

The little chubby one asked with concern, "Brother, how's Will? Was he found?"

Luke shook his head, "No news yet."

"Is he connected to the death of the bald guy?"

"No, the police were just conducting a routine inquiry." Luke concealed the incident with the three thugs smashing the restaurant.

The little chubby one yawned and went upstairs to sleep.

Luke went to the bathroom to take a shower. He liked thinking while showering, and somehow the water seemed to wash away distractions, leaving his mind very clear at such times.

After the shower, Luke came downstairs and smelled the aroma of fried chicken.

"Jack wanted fried chicken, so we ordered some fried chicken and pizza delivery," Li Zhaofeng said as he took a tray out of the oven and grabbed two bottles of beer.

Luke picked up a drumstick and took a big bite, "Crunch..." It was crispy and delicious.

He clinked his beer with Li Zhaofeng's, took a sip of beer, and ate some fried chicken; it felt great.

Li Zhaofeng put down his beer bottle, "What's going on with Will?"

Luke told his father about his visit to the FBI office to check Zhang Qilong's records and the conflict that occurred in the restaurant.

Li Zhaofeng's expression was grave, "This matter is escalating.

It won't affect you, will it?"

"It's fine, I've arranged for a friend at the FBI to get me a criminal investigation advisor title."

Li Zhaofeng's expression was complicated, the name FBI was like thunder to the ears. Even though they hadn't seen each other for a year, his son's growth had exceeded his expectations, becoming the backbone of the family.

Luke took another drink with his father, saying, "In a couple of days, Jack should be going back to school. I thought he should go first, and I'll stay to handle things here before leaving."

Li Zhaofeng nodded, "That works. If you leave, I really won't feel at ease.

He Sheng Hall is very powerful in Chinatown. If we really offend them..." As he spoke, Li Zhaofeng's face darkened again.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of everything before I leave," Luke reassured him, then asked, "Dad, have you encountered any trouble lately?"

"Me?" Li Zhaofeng was taken aback, "No, why do you ask?"

"The night of Chinese New Year's Eve, we were followed, possibly by the FBI."

Today, Luke found the car that might have been following them in the FBI's backyard parking lot. The person following them was likely an FBI agent.

Luke felt that the FBI probably wouldn't follow him, and if they wanted to investigate him, they would be very cautious.

With the three of them together, if it wasn't Luke, it might be someone else.

The little chubby one was still in school, so that was unlikely.

This was New York, and his father had always lived there, so the FBI was likely following him.

Li Zhaofeng looked shocked, "Being followed by the FBI? No way.

I've never had dealings with them."

"Think carefully, has anything unusual happened recently? Or have you met any special people?"

Li Zhaofeng thought for a moment, "I... got hit by a car in early October. Could it be related to that?"

"Who hit you?"

"It was a white guy. He was very polite after hitting me, immediately called 911, and was actively cooperative in compensating.

At the time, I didn't think much of it and thought it was just an ordinary accident."

"How did it happen?"

"It was raining that day. I was walking fast with an umbrella, and there was no traffic light at that intersection. I got hit by a turning blue Chevrolet sedan, injured my leg, and got some scratches.

I stayed in the hospital for a few days and then recuperated at home for a while." Instinctively, Li Zhaofeng touched his right leg, regretting missing his son's award ceremony at the White House due to the car accident.

"Did you know the driver before?"

"No, I haven't."

"Any unusual events before the car accident?"

Li Zhaofeng took a sip of beer and leaned back, reminiscing, "I remember a few days before the accident, someone came to see me, wanting to hire me as his private accountant.

But instead of going to the accounting firm, he came directly to my house.

I didn't like that kind of approach.

We talked for a bit, and I asked about his work and main sources of income.

He said he was with He Sheng Hall.

After that, I didn't ask further and directly turned him down.

When it comes to gangs, there are bound to be gray and illegal incomes, and I didn't want to take that risk.

Then, he left."

Luke pressed, "He's from He Sheng Hall?"

"That's what he said."

"What was his name?"

"I think his last name was Song."

"Did you discuss any sensitive topics then?"

"No, as soon as I heard he was with He Sheng Hall, I stopped the conversation."

"Did he say anything when he was leaving? How was his attitude?"

"He said the pay was lucrative and asked me to reconsider, but he never came back.

His face didn't look so good when he left."

Luke noted this situation, finding the person somewhat suspicious since gang involvement was not a small matter.

But since they didn't talk about sensitive issues, why would He Sheng Hall retaliate against his father?

And it had been so long, why would the FBI start following his father now?
