Luke, filled with questions, rushed to the Yue Lai Yue Hao restaurant.

Just as he reached the entrance, a voice echoed in his mind: [Adventure card activated, used.]

Hearing this, Luke could basically confirm that this restaurant was indeed related to the case.

His companion Louise asked, "Inspector Lee, why suddenly come to this restaurant?"

Luke replied, "The food on the table may have been what the deceased ate before dying, and around their home, there aren't any Cantonese restaurants.

Most of New York City's Cantonese restaurants are concentrated in Chinatown.

I have Chinese heritage, I'm familiar with Chinese restaurants, just follow me."

Louise nodded, remembering the last case where Luke found the culprit just by a set of footprints, she was quite impressed by him and had high expectations for his skills this time too.

Hope that this time Luke could also surprise them.

The two of them entered the restaurant one after the other, and Luke sat in a spot he was familiar with. The waiter approached with the menu, "Madam, sir, what would you like to eat?"

Luke took the menu and asked, "Do you offer takeout here?"

"No, we don't have takeout, but we can do takeaways."

"Why don't you offer takeout?"

"I'm not sure, that's the owner's decision."

"Can you call your boss over?"

The waiter knew Luke from having seen him dine here twice, nodded, and went to the counter to find the boss.

A little while later, the boss came over, she was wearing a black long dress, her figure was voluptuous, and she was accompanied by a fragrance, "Sir, what can I do for you?"

"The food in your restaurant is delicious.

But I can't find it on any takeout app."

The boss said, "We don't offer takeout service."

"Why not? I believe many people, like myself, would love to order takeout from your restaurant."

"Thank you for your recognition.

We don't do takeout not because we don't want to serve everyone, it's just that during holidays, we simply can't keep up.

Also, our restaurant has strict standards for our dishes, especially hot dishes, which are best eaten fresh out of the kitchen.

The delivery process affects the taste and lowers the customer's impression of our restaurant.

Many customers enjoy their meals here, but find the takeout less satisfying and think we use inferior ingredients for takeaway meals.

I don't know about other places, but our restaurant uses the same ingredients, it's just that transit impacts the taste.

So, we canceled the takeout service."

The boss added, "Of course, if customers enjoy their meal and want to take the rest away when leaving, we don't stop them.

What would you like to eat today? I can help you with your order."

Luke glanced at the menu, "Roast squab, steamed grouper, poached chicken, blanched vegetables, clay pot rice."

"Would you like a drink?"

"Not needed for now, just these for now."

"Alright." The boss walked away lightly.

Louise asked, "Do you know her?"

"I've eaten here before."

Louise pressed on, "Do you think the deceased came to this restaurant for takeout and took it home?"

Luke was a bit surprised, "You understand Chinese?"

Louise gestured with her right hand, "A little bit."

"We'll know soon." Luke, after speaking, felt something was off. Since this restaurant doesn't offer takeout, it meant the deceased likely visited, but why didn't they eat here and instead took the food away?

"Louise, have someone check this restaurant's background."

"You suspect something's wrong with this place?"

"It's hard to say now." Luke couldn't determine whether the deceased accidentally visited or had another purpose.

"Okay." Louise answered, then went outside to make a call.

A few minutes later, Louise returned to the restaurant and gave Luke an OK hand signal.

By then, the first dish, roast squab, was served on the table.

Louise slightly frowned, "Oh, it smells so good.

But I'm not sure if I should eat this cute little thing."

Luke laughed, "Are you too spooked to eat?"

"No, I'm just not accustomed to eating such cute animals.

The last time I saw it was in the square, it symbolizes peace, I don't think it should appear on the table." Louise shook her head and pushed the roast squab towards Luke.

Soon, the second dish was served, blanched vegetables.

The third dish, steamed grouper.

The fourth, poached chicken.

Finally, clay pot rice.

Once the dishes were all on the table, Louise recalled the leftovers at the crime scene, "You ordered these dishes, which the deceased had before dying."

"Yes." Luke ate a piece of poached chicken, it was tender and tasty, though he felt a bit uncomfortable with the blood streaks on the bones.

Louise asked, "Do other restaurants have these dishes too? Or is it just this one?"

"These dishes are common in other Cantonese restaurants, but whether they have them all, I'm not sure." Luke urged, "Hurry up and eat, we'll pack the rest."

Louise understood Luke's point and started eating too.

After the meal, Luke waved, "Waiter, pack these."

Soon, a female waiter came over with takeout boxes, "Sir, which dish would you like to pack?"

"I'll do it." Luke took the packaging box from her, examined it, and handed it to Louise nearby, "Get your boss here."
