Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth
Chapter 929 - 426: The Reason (Bonus Chapter)
"Bang..."
Another series of gunshots rang out.
Louise was startled and also pulled out her gun, aiming at the shooter.
But Louise didn't dare to fire immediately; the shooter was standing among the crowd, making it easy to accidentally hit someone else.
She couldn't be sure not to harm any innocents.
The shooter might not care about the lives around them, but she couldn't do that.
However, to her surprise, Luke fired without any hesitation.
After the gunshots.
The shooter fell to the ground.
"Ah..."
Screams erupted from the crowd.
Louise quickly walked over, kicked away the shooter's gun, and checked his injuries.
The shooter had been hit twice in the chest, and blood was gushing out.
Louise squatted down, pressing on the shooter's wound, and asked, "Consultant Lee, how is Chen Yue's injury?"
"She was hit in the shoulder and abdomen, and the wounds are very dangerous." Luke hurriedly took off his coat, pressing it on Chen Yue's wound, and shouted at a waiter who ran out from the restaurant, "Call 911!"
Luke scanned the crowd, preventing another potential shooter.
The situation was very critical; the shooter's aim was excellent, and even though Luke had pushed Chen Yue, she still got shot twice, luckily avoiding vital areas.
Simultaneously, the shooter also fired at Luke, narrowly missing his chest, but fortunately, he had activated the Bullet-Proof Card, and the bullet grazed Luke's left chest, piercing through his coat.
[Bullet-Proof Card activated, used.]
[Accuracy Card activated, used.]
In such a crisis, Luke used an 'Accuracy Card' when firing.
There were many tourists around, and he worried about injuring innocents, so he didn't hold back and shot directly at the shooter's chest.
"Consultant Lee... go to the school... save..." Chen Yue squeezed out a few words with difficulty.
"Don't talk, I will contact my colleagues in Forborough to protect your daughter." Luke waved his hand, gesturing a restaurant waiter to take care of Chen Yue.
He stood up and called Michael Jett, asking him to send someone to pick up Chen Yue's daughter from school.
Luke rarely used system cards, but today he used three of them at once, feeling a bit distressed.
Luke suddenly thought that he was currently handling the case as Forborough, and wondered if there would be a reward.
If there was no reward for this case, it would be a huge loss.
Now, the only hope was finding Zhou Tiansheng.
If Zhou Tiansheng was indeed dead, then the person who killed him should also know the whereabouts of his assets. Only by finding Zhou Tiansheng's assets could Luke compensate for the loss of these three cards.
"Woo woo..."
A few minutes later, the New York police arrived on the scene, set up a perimeter, and dispersed the onlookers.
Twenty minutes later, an ambulance arrived on site.
Paramedics lifted the stretcher and placed the two injured individuals onto the ambulance.
Louise said, "Consultant Lee, I will take them to the hospital for treatment, and I'll leave the scene to you."
"Go ahead." Luke had just joined Forborough and was unfamiliar with many situations, so it was better for Louise to take the two injured to the hospital.
After watching the ambulance leave, Luke mentally complained; he'd fired a gun, and if there was no salary, at least some bonus would be nice, otherwise what's the point of working?
Actually, the situation on the scene was already quite clear; Luke was just waiting for the field investigators to come and collect evidence.
He walked to the edge of the perimeter to smoke a cigarette.
A young, slender Asian woman came over, wearing an orange-red short woolen coat on top, dark jeans, and black boots below, exuding a youthful vibe.
She glanced at the Forborough badge on Luke's chest and picked up a microphone, asking, "Sir, I am Norine Chen, a reporter from the CBF TV New York office, can I interview you?"
Luke smiled kindly and said, "No."
Norine "..."
Then why are you smiling?
"I won't take too much of your time."
"Sorry, I am not a spokesperson."
Norine Chen did not give up, "There are quite a few tourists in Chinatown who heard the gunshots, which has caused some panic, and it might even impact the whole of New York.
Sir, as a consultant for Forborough, you have the responsibility and ability to quell the panic. Just saying a few simple words will do.
If rumors spread, it will only increase the citizens' panic."
Luke shrugged, "I don't want to become too famous."
"Sir, I think you're overthinking it. I am just an intern reporter, without that level of influence.
Besides, even though I've already broadcasted several solo news stories, the majority of New York citizens still don't recognize me.
Let me introduce myself again, I'm Norine Chen." This was said facing the camera.
"OK, go ahead and ask."
"Can you tell us what just happened?"
"A shooter attacked an Asian woman."
"Was it you who subdued the shooter?"
"Yes, I wounded him, and he has been sent to the hospital now.
The matter is over, and Chinatown is now safe.
There is no need for panic."
"Sir, on behalf of New York citizens, I thank you for your heroic actions. Can I ask for your name?"
"No, I'm just fulfilling my duty."
"Why did the shooter attack the Asian woman?"
Luke evasively said, "It's still under investigation."
"Final question, why did you yell 'LAPD' while enforcing on the streets of New York?"
Luke "..."
"Sir, did you hear my question?"
"Yes, you are very beautiful, I like your eyes."
"Thank you, but that's not what I asked.
