A red Ferrari drove down the road.

The traffic was heavy at noon, and the Ferrari wasn't going very fast.

Not far behind the Ferrari, there was a black Dodge following.

Luke laughed, "Lucky for us, this isn't the suburbs, or else we might not be able to complete the mission."

David said, "I could keep up even in the suburbs."

Luke teased, "Going too fast isn't always a good thing."

"fuck, have you been hanging around Marcus too much lately? Your head's filled with unhealthy stuff."

"There's nothing wrong with Marcus, he lives every day carefree, always laughing," Luke felt that he wasn't just influenced by Marcus, but by David as well.

Take last night for example, he actually pulled a gun on a dog, whereas in the past he would likely have just endured it.

No.

Upon further thought, Luke felt that it wasn't these two guys who influenced him, but more so the environment around him.

Actually, it wasn't so bad, at least he was living more freely, living true to himself.

"Luke, have you guys spotted Maquire Hary's car yet?" Susan's voice came through the walkie-talkie.

"Yes, we are right behind the red Ferrari."

"Don't follow too closely, Marcus and Jenny will catch up at the next intersection, then it's the lieutenant and Raymond. Three cars will track interchangeably."

"Roger that."

After passing an intersection, David slowed down the car.

Marcus's car followed close behind.

Luke chuckled, "Suddenly, it feels like we're shooting a blockbuster."

David shook his head, not as optimistic as Luke, "You don't get hurt making movies."

Luke didn't bother to reply, feeling that David was living too repressed, having forgotten the instinct to seek joy.

After another intersection, Marcus's car turned into another lane, with Raymond in his car following suit.

The black Dodge kept a position slightly behind.

After a short period of pursuit, Susan's voice echoed from the walkie-talkie again, "Maquire has parked, nobody get out of your cars, Maquire has seen you guys.

I'll have uniformed officers keep an eye on Maquire Hary.

Your target is the person he's meeting with, got it?"

"Yes, captain."

The red Ferrari stopped by the roadside of a square.

The black Dodge also stopped a short distance away.

Through the car window, Luke saw Maquire Hary getting out of the car, holding a cellphone in his left hand and carrying a travel bag in his right.

Maquire Hary seemed somewhat nervous, looking around, walking forward along the square.

After walking about tens of meters, he stopped by a plastic garbage bin, paused for a moment, then placed the travel bag inside it.

Then he started talking on the phone again while looking around as if arguing with someone on the other side, and after a while, he returned to his Ferrari.

The walkie-talkie rang again, and Susan instructed, "After Maquire Hary leaves the square, uniformed officers will intercept him, the lieutenant and Raymond will be in charge of interrogating him.

Everyone else, keep an eye on that travel bag, the person who takes the travel bag is likely our suspect."

David continued to surveil from inside the car, while Luke got out and strolled around the square as if aimlessly, but he was actually keeping an eye on the direction of the garbage bin.

After a while, a vagrant wearing a duckbill cap approached the garbage bin, bending over it, rummaging through the contents.

Soon, the vagrant took the travel bag out of the bin, his whole demeanor changed, his face revealing an excited expression, constantly looking around, his right hand gripping the strap of the travel bag tightly, briskly walking towards the east side of the square.

Marcus asked through the walkie-talkie, "Captain, do we move in now?"

Susan responded, "The square is too open, there could be other suspects; we can't arrest him here, or the rest may flee.

Wait until he has left the square to seize the opportunity to arrest."

In the square, the vagrant carried the travel bag eastward, and Luke and the others followed.

Next to the road, a Toyota's door opened, and Susan, with a serious expression, got out. She was under a lot of pressure.

She couldn't risk arresting the suspects too early and alerting the accomplices, causing them to flee, yet she was worried that the vagrant could escape the police's pursuit.

Although the order to seize the opportunity to arrest had been given, Susan wasn't reassured and followed as well.

There was a subway station on the east side of the square.

Luke guessed the vagrant might enter the subway to escape and quickly reported, "Captain, the suspect might enter the subway station."

Susan didn't hesitate any longer, "Once he enters the subway station, proceed with the arrest immediately."

"Yes, captain."

The vagrant broke into a trot and entered the subway entrance.

Luke, David, Marcus, and Jenny followed suit, and the net of capture began to tighten.

Just as Susan was about to follow suit, her cell phone rang, "Ding-a-ling-a-ling..."

Pressing the answer button, "Deputy Team Leader, what's the matter?"

"We've intercepted Maquire Hary. I'm starting to take his statement, and the situation may not be what we thought."

Susan frowned slightly, "Did we grab the wrong person?"

"No.

Inside the travel bag was indeed money, but what Maquire Hary gave was not a hiring fee, but a ransom."

"I'll be right there." Susan hung up her phone and turned to leave the subway station.

She believed that Luke and David, among others, could catch the culprit.

...

Inside the subway station.

The vagrant seemed to realize something, quickening his pace as he entered the station, occasionally looking back.

David knew they couldn't wait any longer and gestured a command before issuing the arrest order.

The vagrant ran down the stairs and into a waiting train car.

David instructed, "Luke, keep watch outside.

Marcus, Jenny, and I will go in and arrest the suspect."

David entered from the front car, Marcus and Jenny from the rear car, and the two sides met in the middle to surround and capture the vagrant.

The three of them drew closer and closer, within two meters of the vagrant.

The vagrant leaned against a metal column, head down, as if unaware of anything.

Just as the doors were about to close, the vagrant bolted out without warning.

David rushed to catch him, but the train car was too crowded for him to get out in time.

After getting off the car, the vagrant even took a special look inside the car and started grinning.

"LAPD! Put the travel bag down and raise your hands!" Luke, gun in hand, was already waiting outside the car.

The vagrant glanced at Luke, his expression showing panic.

The surrounding passengers quickly moved to avoid the commotion.

Some even took out their phones to take pictures.

"LAPD, we're investigating a major criminal case. No photos allowed, no sharing online. Any leak of information could cause major damage to society, and you could face prosecution and hefty compensation."

Luke's words were effective, as many people put their phones down.

Even if some had taken photos, they probably wouldn't dare post them online.

The vagrant crouched, preparing to place the travel bag down.

"Slowly, no sudden moves," Luke ordered, eyes fixed on him.

As the travel bag was about to hit the ground, the vagrant suddenly flung it forward at Luke and started running.

Luke called out to an approaching traffic officer, "Keep an eye on this travel bag. I'm after that bastard."

In the midst of speaking, Luke charged out, with the busy subway station adding difficulty to the arrest.

Agile and quick-footed, Luke gradually closed the distance between himself and the vagrant.

He grabbed the vagrant's clothes, who in turn swung a punch at Luke's face.

Dodging to the side, Luke threw a counter punch with his right fist.

The two scuffled, with Luke moving swiftly and landing several hard punches on the vagrant.

The vagrant grabbed Luke's waist, attempting to take him down and reach for the gun at his waist.

In a critical moment, Luke used two elbow strikes to knock the vagrant down and subdued him with grappling techniques.

Twisting his arms behind his back, Luke handcuffed him and finally exhaled in relief.

He then read the Miranda warning.

After all this, Luke was sweating profusely and thought to himself that he had to improve his fighting skills. If the suspect had managed to get hold of the gun, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

Although guns are prevalent in America, in some situations, the police cannot shoot.

For instance, like just now when the suspect was focused solely on escape, unarmed, Luke couldn't shoot him in the back and had to opt for hand-to-hand combat.

At times like these, combat skills are exceptionally important.

Luke was a better fighter than the average person, but compared to a professional, he probably wouldn't last many rounds.

There's room for improvement in his fighting ability and great potential for growth.
