CHAPTER 21: CHAPTER 007 UNEXPECTED ENCOUNTER_3

Qin Mu was never really interested in classical music, but she loved lively events, so she agreed, "Sure, but I have a classmate gathering tomorrow night. You go first, and I’ll meet you at the concert hall."

"Alright."

The following evening.

The concert was set to begin at 7:30 PM, yet ten minutes before it started, Su Wan, who was waiting in the lobby, received a call from Qin Mu: "Sis, boo hoo... Sorry, we got carried away chatting at the reunion, and now we’re heading to a second round for karaoke, and they won’t let me leave."

Su Wan understood and didn’t push it, smiling as she consoled, "It’s fine, have fun. I can manage by myself."

It was just a pity for the spare ticket.

Qin Mu was immensely touched: "Sis, I love you—I’ll treat you to some crayfish tomorrow!"

Su Wan advised, "Be careful and get home early."

Hanging up the phone, the lobby bell chimed, signaling it’s time to enter. Su Wan looked at the two tickets in her hand, slipped one back into her bag, and proceeded to have her ticket checked before entering.

She smoothly entered the concert hall and found her seat. Su Wan pulled down the chair and sat down.

The moment her bottom touched the seat and she lifted her eyes, she saw a man standing at the row’s end—a man she knew well and found handsome.

Fu Weiheng silently took the seat next to her, a charming curve lifting at his mouth as he remarked, "What a coincidence."

Su Wan: "..."

Wasn’t this ticket from him? What was coincidental? What exactly was he implying?

Actually, Su Wan was not surprised. Since Fu Weiheng had given her two tickets, it was inevitable he’d keep one for himself.

Fu Weiheng glanced at the empty seat beside Su Wan and casually asked, "You’re alone?"

Su Wan smiled lightly, "My cousin’s class reunion ran late, so she couldn’t make it."

Fu Weiheng nodded and looked towards the stage, "Hmm, it’s about to start."

The lights inside gradually dimmed, and the entry doors were closed, as the performance began. The musicians ascended the stage with their instruments and took their places sequentially.

Then a renowned conductor took the stage, leading the orchestra to stand and bow to the audience, before turning his back to them and commencing the performance.

The first piece was "The Marriage of Figaro," one of Mozart’s well-known opera masterpieces. The story tells of the intelligent and upright servant Figaro outsmarting everyone to marry the beautiful maid Susanna. The symphony was playing the opera’s overture; the swiftly played main theme by the violins transitioned to the winds, followed by a strong orchestral tutti. The second theme was as melodious as a song, wrapping up the piece in a cheerful atmosphere, announcing a happy ending.

One couldn’t help but admire Mozart’s incredible talent. Though Su Wan had a fondness for this outstanding classical music master, it seemed this "musical genius" had inexplicable quirks?

During the intermission, Su Wan leaned slightly towards Fu Weiheng’s ear, "Mr. Fu, do you know what Mozart said after he got syphilis?"

Her unintended closeness made Fu Weiheng’s heart skip a beat; he suppressed the stir within and looked at her with feigned nonchalance, "Hmm?"

Su Wan pursed her lips to hold back laughter and said, "He said, ’To hell with the bourgeois, hallelujah I got syphilis!’"

Fu Weiheng: "..."

At that moment, Fu Weiheng wondered if it was because he was four years older that he couldn’t keep up with her pace in thoughts...

At 9:30, the performance officially ended.

It was Su Wan’s first time hearing a world-renowned orchestra live, so much so that as she exited the concert hall, her face couldn’t hide her thrill and joy. She gladly accepted Fu Weiheng’s offer to drive her home.

Walking behind her, Fu Weiheng took out his car keys from his pocket, pressed unlock, a satisfied smile on his lips. She was so happy, he might consider inviting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for a performance in the country next time.

The car smoothly halted at her community entrance, Su Wan unbuckled her seatbelt, beaming, "Thank you."

Fu Weiheng: "Take care, see you soon."

"Alright, Mr. Fu, you be careful too, see you."

After Su Wan got out, Fu Weiheng didn’t drive away immediately. He waited until he saw her enter her building before feeling relieved enough to leave.

Back home, Su Wan was just about to shower when Qin Mu returned with a cheerful demeanor, humming tunes under her breath.

"Sis, the concert over already?" Qin Mu tossed her keys aside and bounced over to the kitchen for a glass of water.

Su Wan responded with an "Mm" and went to the bathroom. After showering, she sat on the bed drying her hair when her phone buzzed, alerting her to a new message. A quick glance showed the message was from Gu Ming on WeChat.

Feeling slightly resigned, but she still opened it.

Gu Ming: Are you asleep?

She had rejected Gu Ming’s advances multiple times, both implicitly and explicitly. She was clear on what she wanted, and she never replied to such ambiguous private messages. With a swipe, she decisively deleted Gu Ming’s chat.

Just as Qin Mu finished her shower and came in, she saw Su Wan frowning while holding her phone, and leaned over to ask, "Sis, what’s up?"

"It’s nothing." She smiled, placing her phone aside and laying down. Fu Weiheng’s handsome face suddenly flashed in her mind, and she couldn’t help but ask, "Mumu, what’s it like to like someone?"

In the midst of chatting enthusiastically in a group, Qin Mu was surprised by her sister’s question. She locked her screen and lay beside Su Wan, "Sis, have you figured it out? Do you like someone? Fu Weiheng?"

Su Wan turned her back, "...Forget I asked."

"Don’t be like that, sis, I was just kidding." Qin Mu quickly turned her back around, teasingly smiling, "Liking someone is simple—it’s when you keep thinking about them, want to see them constantly, and you’re just really happy when you do."

"..."

Watching Qin Mu’s animated expression, Su Wan felt a pang of anxiety. Maybe she’d better figure it out herself...
