CHAPTER 291: BELLA’S INVITATION

Luis was completely baffled by this. It was understandable that Yana was ambitious and had obtained her nursing certificate, but his wife Lily had always been conventional and was never outstanding in her studies; no matter how hard she tried, she remained a poor student.

After all these years since graduation, she had practically given all her nursing knowledge back to her teachers, so why was she suddenly attending training now?

If she went, that would be one thing, at least it was related to her field. But his Mother In Law, an old graduate of nursing who had never worked a single day in her life and wasn’t even a hospital staff member, what was she doing tagging along for the ride?

"This training was suggested by Aunt Yana. She’s coming with us too, she wants to visit Maria and have some fun for a few days."

"Honey, you need to work harder at home, okay? My older sister said she’d find you a lover, so you must not go back on your word. Most importantly, you have to take some photos and videos for me to see."

After a pause, Lily suddenly said, "Oh, right, honey, Rococo took leave today. She mentioned she saw you with a middle-aged man who seemed quite familiar. Who did you run into today?"

Luis felt warmth in his heart and was deeply moved, but he still steered the conversation away. "Wife, have a safe journey, and you especially, please be careful, understand?"

"Okay, honey, don’t worry. Mom is with us on this trip, and we still have our prenatal checkup. Bye."

None of the three dared to drive on the highway, so they took the high-speed train directly to the capital.

After hanging up, Luis felt a bit stunned. He was accustomed to the hustle and bustle at home, but now with his wife and Mother In Law away, and his sister in law living on campus, it felt unusually quiet.

He called his sister in law, Nancy. It was very noisy on her end. Nancy said she had gone out with the Taiga family to visit relatives and wouldn’t be back for two or three days. Moreover, Daniel wanted to discuss some bullshit business deal.

Luis wasn’t exactly the type who couldn’t live without female company, but having his home suddenly become so cold and deserted just felt wrong.

Just then, a completely unexpected call came through, bringing Rococo’s soft, coquettish voice to his ear. "Brother in law, what are you doing?"

"At home. You know your sister Lily went to the capital, right?"

Luis decided to play dumb for now and not mention seeing her that day.

But Rococo proactively said, "Brother in law, I was really surprised to see you today. I was wondering why you were working as a security guard for someone."

"I was surprised to see you too. I never expected that little moocher to actually be a wealthy heiress from a prominent family."

"Not at all~ I just want to be self reliant."

Rococo fell silent for a long moment on the other end, then said softly, "Brother in law... my mother would like to invite you to dinner."

"Your mother? You mean our boss’s wife, right?!"

Luis’s heart gave a jolt. So it was happening; using that cheat came with side effects after all.

The voice on the other end changed, replaced by a mature, pleasingly melodious tone, like the chime of silver bells. "It’s a small world, Luis. You still remember me, I presume?"

"Of course I remember. The boss’s wife is the one who sent me to the hospital."

Luis’s tone was remarkably calm.

If he was angry, he really wasn’t. Thinking about it, he had actually benefited from a misfortune. If she hadn’t stomped on the accelerator, he wouldn’t have been hit on the head by that barrier.

He also wouldn’t have obtained this System that changed his life. In a way, this woman could be considered his benefactor.

"I heard from Keke that you’re a gentle and kind man. Surely you aren’t so petty as to hold a grudge against me? That was official business, after all."

Bella giggled and said, "In that case, let me treat you to a meal as an apology. I won’t be stingy like Vincent was, don’t you worry."

"Pass. We’re not acquainted!"

Luis refused outright and hung up the phone.

Needless to say, Bella had only sought him out after making inquiries about his wife’s situation.

The Ocean Hotel was the Leon family’s stronghold. The door to the president’s office on the top floor’s executive area was tightly shut.

Beside the office was a bedroom no less luxurious than a high end hotel suite. The bathroom within was currently filled with steam.

The massive jacuzzi was filled with warm water, assorted dried flower petals floating on the surface. Bella, her hair up and makeup removed, remained devastatingly beautiful, a peerless stunner by any measure.

Her skin was snow white and flawless, only her fragrant shoulders visible above the water, hinting at the perfect body hidden beneath. Yet, even like this, the sight of the beauty bathing was breathtakingly radiant.

After hanging up, she placed the phone aside, her expression turning somewhat unpleasant.

Rococo quietly retrieved her phone and turned to leave, but Bella turned back and called out to her, her voice feigning gentleness, "What’s the matter? Now that you’ve grown up, you don’t want to bathe with your mother anymore?"

"Mom... I don’t want to bathe!"

Rococo’s face was tinged with a delicate blush and shame. Gritting her teeth, she recalled some of those intimate, rippling yet somewhat resistant memories.

Bella looked at her daughter’s obedient appearance, which was nonetheless full of resistance, and her voice cooled. "Your wings have hardened, it’s truly different now, Rococo. Do you think your mother is some kind of pervert?"

"No!"

Rococo shook her head, but it was clearly against her true feelings.

"No? If it’s no, then why did you run away from home and play hide and seek with me?"

Bella looked at her divinely beautiful daughter, a trace of bitterness in her voice. "You thought Mom didn’t know where you were, didn’t you?"

"You’ve really gone too far now. Actually forging a nursing school diploma, sneaking into a community hospital for an internship... Do you have any idea how much trouble it would cause if a patient died?"
