The next moment, the lightning came down again, faster, louder, and stronger than before, but Xavier was already moving; this time, it wasn't multiple bolts, but a single lightning bolt that seemed to follow Xavier around.

Xavier dodged it twice before charging straight through the flashing storm, his sword ready, his body cutting through the air like a blade itself.

And as he got close, Azure's expression changed for the first time, a spark of excitement flickering in his calm eyes as lightning bathed his hands ready to be unleashed.

He shouted loudly as Xavier stood before him, "Show me your strength, human."

Xavier had stopped and raised his sword high; his sword was coated with crimson energy, which was overflowing as he was ready to unleash a slash.

Azure, on the other hand, was set to blast Xavier into smithereens when a voice cut through their plans, causing both of them to halt.

"IT'S BEEN A MINUTE," Star shouted at the top of her voice, and both of them turned towards her. She was already in her dragon form, which made her scream even louder.

The lightning above slowly disappeared along with the clouds, and the coating on his hands was absorbed back into his body. Xavier stopped infusing Mana, and Kaan also cut off his Mana, which was responsible for the crimson energy, as Xavier brought his sword down.

Azure stared at Star and then turned towards Xavier, "Now I can see why she's under you, I'm sure you have the strength to beat her, but a dragon's strength isn't as stagnant as humans, she'll be much stronger in a few years to come"

"Are you running back because you're at war against demons?" Azure asked Xavier.

"War against demons, how did you know?" Xavier asked, because he never told him humans were at war with demons.

Azure's lips curved into a small smirk as he lowered his hand.

"Because I travel often," he said simply, his tone calm again now that the storm had faded.

"I like passing through human lands every few decades, just to see how much you've changed or developed, it's nice to see some humans are strong enough to face a dragon"

He looked up at the sky, his white hair brushing slightly in the breeze. "But the last time I visited, there was chaos everywhere. Humans fighting against demons and beastkin"

He turned his gaze back to Xavier. "So I can tell. You're one of the ones caught in that war, aren't you? Is that how you ended up on the other side of the world"

Xavier slowly nodded. "Yeah, do tell me, who do you think would win the war?" Xavier asked.

Back when he was in the human continent, he wasn't even sure if it was an all-out war, he knew Avalon was attacked but he had no idea how large the army was or if Avalon's forces were able to stop them"

Azure hummed softly, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Humans are going to lose, but it won't be the end of your species, Humans are tenacious and tend to survive every time"

"How bad is the war, do you know about Avalon...has it been breached?" Xavier asked, the words hanging in his throat, he was afraid to know the answer because he knew what it meant.

"Avalon? I have no idea what the humans call their kingdoms, but there's only one surviving nation filled with humans. I think it's the last stronghold," Azure spoke.

"Do you know why humans and demons are at war?" Xavier asked Azure, just to hear what he had to say since he had been alive for much longer than him.

"Humans and demons emerged in the same continent, eventually one of them would have to go, it's simply how it is, if it were demons and beastkin, they would still go to war with each other, it's the difference that causes the war"

"A promise is a promise, I'll leave you two...and Star, you shouldn't return home unless you are strong enough, or you know what would happen," Azure spoke before turning around and floating upward.

Once he gained enough altitude, he transformed back into his majestic dragon form and ascended into the skies.

Xavier and Star both watched him go in silence. For a moment, all they heard was the soft rumble of thunder fading into the distance.

Star slowly shifted back into her human form. She stepped beside Xavier, her face still pale but her breathing calmer now, she couldn't believe he didn't do anything to them.

"We're lucky, for a moment I thought we would both end up dead," she whispered. "Also, you were ready to fight him, that would have ended in an instant with both of us dead." She turned towards Xavier.

Xavier's face was expressionless. The only thing he could think about was Avalon. If it were truly an all-out war, how long would it take for Avalon to fall? Even though he had only been gone a few days, the army would have dealt devastating damage to the kingdom.

And even if he does arrive, he doesn't have the power to change the tide of the war unless he finds the demon queen, face her and wins against her since she was controlling the demons, that way they would at least stand a chance.

"You can hold the dragon dive till we arrive right?" Xavier asked.

"Yes," Star answered immediately.

"Let's go," Xavier spoke, and Star stepped away from him and transformed into her dragon form. Xavier climbed on, and she took to the skies, flying higher than the clouds before descending and transitioning into her dragon dive.

She folded her wings, and Xavier held on tight as a thunderous sound followed as she accelerated in an instant.

Xavier's eyes were closer as his face was on top of her body, the only thought passing through his head right now was Avalon, his family, and the academy.
