Vol 2 Chapter 14: Plan

An Yuanyao felt that something was off.

The reason she had this feeling was because of her good friend.

Their families had been close since their parents' generation, so An Yuanyao and Li Wanran had practically grown up together. The two of similar age continued the friendship of their parents.

Whether it was after meals or walking home from school together, or even being in the same class, the two went to the restroom together as well.

However, just after class had ended, when An Yuanyao wanted to go to the restroom and approached Li Wanran’s seat to invite her, “Let’s go to the restroom together,” she was surprised when Li Wanran refused.

Then Li Wanran stood up and left the classroom.

This left An Yuanyao standing there in surprise. Fortunately, because of her personality, she was well-liked in the class, and soon other classmates pulled her along to the restroom.

Along the way, unlike the classmates beside her chatting and laughing, An Yuanyao couldn’t really blend in. She just followed behind them, outwardly appearing to listen, but her mind was elsewhere.

She thought back to what Li Wanran had said that morning.

She had told her.

That she liked Liu Changqing…

“Hey, isn’t that the discipline master?”

Before she could think further, An Yuanyao bumped into a classmate while lost in thought and then heard this sentence.

She lifted her previously lowered head, following the crowd’s gaze.

What she saw was a dark-skinned boy running desperately, with the discipline master not far behind.

An Yuanyao immediately recognized him.

Watching him run toward her, An Yuanyao was about to greet him.

She even raised her hand.

Before she could speak, he rushed past her like a gust of wind.

Without the slightest sign of stopping.

She stood there stunned.

Then the discipline master also ran past beside her.

Only then did An Yuanyao react, quickly turning her head back and seeing Liu Changqing’s back slowly disappearing from her sight.

One second, two seconds…

The hand she had raised slowly lowered, gazing at the figure that was no longer visible…

Had he… made a mistake again?

After using the restroom, everyone returned to the classroom.

Just as An Yuanyao was about to return to her seat, Li Wanran, who had returned to the classroom at some unknown time, called out to her.

She waved at her.

Seeing this, An Yuanyao didn’t think much and walked over directly, standing beside her.

“What’s up?”

“After school today, I’ll have someone send you home.”

“…”

Upon hearing Li Wanran say this, An Yuanyao clearly had a moment of stunned silence.

She didn’t quite understand what she meant.

Before she could figure it out, Li Wanran said again.

“Since what happened yesterday, it might not be safe on the way home. It’s better to just take a car directly from now on.”

“Alright…”

An Yuanyao didn’t oppose this suggestion.

In her eyes, it was still going home together after school, just a bit more convenient.

However, Li Wanran’s intention wasn’t like that.

Originally, after leaving the classroom, she planned to find Liu Changqing, but after going to his classroom, she found nothing.

There was no sign of him, and she didn’t know where he went after class.

After returning, she thought a lot.

The more she thought, the more scared she felt…

Compared to the girl with glasses today, in Li Wanran’s heart, An Yuanyao—who had been with Liu Changqing in the previous life—was a greater threat.

Because of her arrival, two people who originally had no connection in high school were now linked.

Fearing a repeat of the previous life’s tragedy, after much thought, Li Wanran made this plan.

She looked up at An Yuanyao beside her.

Looking at her face…

She spoke.

“From now on, I won’t go home with you after school.”

“…”

Her eyes widened slightly.

Obviously, Li Wanran’s words surprised An Yuanyao.

Before she could ask, she heard another sentence.

“You know I like him, so… from now on, I want to go home with him.”

“Wanran…”

An Yuanyao murmured softly.

Looking at Li Wanran who spoke those words, she suddenly felt a bit estranged from her.

It didn’t feel like the good friend she had grown up with…

She felt like Li Wanran was hiding something from her.

Her heart filled with confusion, but before she could ask, the class bell rang. The previously noisy environment instantly quieted down.

Students gradually returned to their seats.

Li Wanran did the same.

Her gaze shifted away from An Yuanyao’s face. She took out the textbook for this class, placed it on the desk, still with the look of someone ready to seriously listen.

Seeing this, An Yuanyao’s words died in her throat.

She just stood there in a daze for a moment, then disappointedly returned to her seat, took out her textbook, spread it on the desk, and stared blankly.

Usually focused and attentive in class, An Yuanyao was now distracted.

Though she could hear the teacher’s voice, she didn’t understand a word of what was being said and couldn’t concentrate at all.

She silently looked at the textbook.

Looked at the textbook laid out before her.

She didn’t know…

Why it had come to this.

The bell signaling the end of school had just rung. As the teacher left, the students began packing their things to leave.

Sun Fan was no exception.

After watching his beloved leave the classroom, he eagerly rushed to Liu Changqing’s side, first greeting the still-present class president, then shouting at Liu Changqing.

“Wanna go hang out?”

“No.”

He rejected the offer outright.

Liu Changqing had no interest in such childish activities, and his uncharacteristically straightforward answer stunned Sun Fan on the spot.

Not only him, Qin Ruoliu beside them also didn’t expect Liu Changqing to refuse. After all, in her impression, whenever Sun Fan invited, Liu Changqing would follow along.

Could it be…

A cold glint flashed in her glasses. Qin Ruoliu became even more certain of her guess. Perhaps it was because Teacher Wang saw that he still had hope that he made her his deskmate.

Thinking this, Qin Ruoliu’s expression grew excited. She clenched her fist and waved it in the air, then shouted.

“Let’s work hard together! I won’t give up on you!”

“…”

“…”

After saying that, she happily grabbed her backpack and left the classroom.

Leaving Liu Changqing and Sun Fan standing there dumbfounded.

Anyone hearing such a strange statement would be stunned. Liu Changqing clearly didn’t understand the thought process of his class president.

What… exactly was she thinking?

Fortunately, the two didn’t dwell on it too much. Soon, Sun Fan, having recovered, continued his prodding.

“Are you really not going?”

“No.”

“Not reconsidering?”

“All you do is play every day. I’m going home to study. You always do so badly on exams. Don’t you get beaten at home?”

“What are you talking about? My grades are better than yours!”

“Liu Changqing.”

While the two were bickering, suddenly a call came from the classroom door, interrupting their conversation.

They both closed their mouths and looked toward the door.

There stood Li Wanran at the classroom entrance, holding her backpack, looking at him.

On her face was a faint smile.
