Madam, Please Behave
Book 2: Chapter 6: You Like Her Too?
Vol 2 Chapter 6: You Like Her Too?
Friday.
Liu Changqing raised his head in the classroom, looking at the girl who had appeared before him.
Her straight hair fell to her neck, with thick bangs covering her forehead. She wore a patterned dress that revealed her arms, white socks covering a third of her calves, and shoes that could either be sneakers or sports shoes.
Her face gave off a quiet, studious vibe.
The way she adjusted her glasses added to her bookish demeanor.
Her name was Qin Ruoliu, the class monitor.
Sitting at the very back corner of the classroom, Liu Changqing was momentarily stunned by the sudden appearance of the class monitor in front of him. He simply stared at her with a puzzled expression, unsure of what was happening.
Until she spoke.
"Liu Changqing... did you finish copying my notes?"
"..."
What notes?
The thought flashed through his mind as he continued staring at her, completely blanking on what she was referring to.
Seeing Liu Changqing frozen in confusion, the class monitor's expression turned awkward.
She seemed somewhat intimidated by him, the class troublemaker.
Her voice grew quieter.
"The notes the teacher made you copy the day before yesterday... the ones you borrowed from me..."
"Did I?"
"You did..."
Liu Changqing furrowed his brows and averted his gaze, trying to recall.
He had only arrived in this world yesterday.
If she said he borrowed the notes the day before yesterday...
That meant they should still be on him.
Realizing this, Liu Changqing didn’t say anything else. He pulled out his backpack from under the desk and began rummaging through it.
He took out all the notebooks inside and spread them across the desk.
Pointing at them, he asked,
"Which one’s yours?"
Hearing this, Qin Ruoliu scanned the notebooks on the desk.
After a careful look, she shook her head.
"It’s not there..."
"Tch..."
This was getting troublesome.
Subconsciously scratching his head, Liu Changqing flipped through the notebooks himself. When he realized they were mostly blank, a sudden thought struck him...
His expression turned strange.
Glancing at Qin Ruoliu standing beside him, he hesitated before asking,
"Was your notebook... the one with the pink cover?"
"Mm."
"Oh... so that was yours..."
His face stiffened awkwardly as Liu Changqing silently gathered the scattered notebooks on the desk.
He suddenly remembered—when he first arrived in this world yesterday, he had been in the bathroom.
In a hurry to leave, he realized he had no toilet paper... so he tore pages from a notebook he was holding to use instead, then threw the entire thing away.
Now that she mentioned it, he recalled that the first half of the notebook had been densely filled with notes.
He had only torn the blank pages at the back.
Putting two and two together... that notebook had been hers?
No wonder the guys in the stalls next to him had asked if he was insane...
Wait, why had his past self even taken her notebook to the bathroom in the first place?
In that brief moment, countless thoughts raced through Liu Changqing’s mind.
But when he looked up at his class monitor again, meeting her eyes, his lips twitched before he forced out an extremely awkward smile.
He said to Qin Ruoliu:
"Uh... how much was it? I’ll pay you back for a new one..."
————————————
Li Wanran appeared at the classroom door.
She had just been about to enter and find Liu Changqing when someone suddenly rushed out of the classroom and bumped into her.
Staggering back a few steps, she nearly fell.
Before she could even react, the person who’d hit her blurted out a quick "Sorry!" before hurrying off.
Watching the girl’s retreating figure heading toward the teachers' office...
"Wait, don’t go report me to the teacher!"
Immediately after, Liu Changqing also rushed out of the classroom.
Standing in the doorway, he shouted after the fleeing girl, but she showed no signs of stopping.
Realizing the inevitable, Liu Changqing’s face fell.
Li Wanran watched all of this unfold.
After a moment of silently observing him, she asked:
"What happened?"
"Great, now I’m gonna have to do horse stance again..."
"Was that girl going to report you to the teacher?"
Liu Changqing muttered to himself, only snapping out of it when Li Wanran’s voice reached him.
He turned to look at her—and the carton of milk she was holding.
Glancing away, he replied:
"It’s nothing..."
"Did you harass her too? Is that why she’s reporting you?"
"..."
Already frustrated, Liu Changqing was completely dumbstruck by her question.
He was about to snap back when he remembered—his past self had indeed harassed Li Wanran frequently.
His confidence instantly deflated.
Seeing that Liu Changqing didn’t answer, Li Wanran’s mood seemed to shift inexplicably.
She took a step forward, closing the distance between them.
The smile she’d arrived with had vanished, replaced by her usual cold expression.
She pressed further:
"You like her too?"
"What? Like who? And why ‘too’?"
"Don’t you like me?"
"When did I ever say that? Don’t make things up—people are watching!"
"..."
Falling silent, Li Wanran stared at Liu Changqing as he spoke.
His face...
The person before her was nothing like the Liu Changqing from her high school memories.
It was like... he was a completely different person.
Though she didn’t understand what had happened, Li Wanran gradually calmed down as Liu Changqing’s words sank in.
Her gaze lowered.
Their voices hadn’t been quiet, and nearby classmates had begun gathering, watching the scene unfold.
After a pause, Li Wanran suddenly extended the carton of milk toward Liu Changqing.
"Here."
"Huh?"
"It’s for you."
"..."
Looking at the yogurt in her hand—a relatively rare treat in this era—Liu Changqing shook his head.
"I don’t like drinking this. Keep it for yourself."
"..."
Hearing his refusal, Li Wanran didn’t respond.
A few seconds later, she turned and walked away, heading back toward her own classroom.
Liu Changqing, still standing at the doorway, paid no attention to her departure. His focus was fixed on the teachers' office.
Before long, Class Monitor Qin Ruoliu returned with their homeroom teacher in tow.
From a distance, he could see her pointing at him while talking animatedly to the teacher.
Seeing this, Liu Changqing didn’t try to run.
Straightening up, he strode confidently toward them.
As expected, the homeroom teacher immediately launched into a "loving education" session. Liu Changqing endured it silently, only to suddenly point a threatening finger at Qin Ruoliu beside him.
The teacher, thinking he was intimidating her, grew even angrier.
After taking a few hits, Liu Changqing finally offered his explanation:
"Her shoelace was untied! I was just pointing it out—stop hitting me!"
"Oh? Talking back now, are we?"
And in that moment...
Liu Changqing truly became one with school life.
