CHAPTER 516: TRAVEL AND NON-TRAVEL TRAVEL CHAPTER FORTY-SIX CAPTURE (PART 2)_2
"Lynch, I think it’s necessary for me to go with them and take a look," Macken said. "Not for any other reason than they used gestures only known to the Paladin Order members. I feel they mean no harm; even if they do, I can protect myself."
Before Lynch could respond, Soka suddenly spoke, "Brother Lynch, they also want me to go along. Do you think I should..."
"No way!" Lynch pointed at that group and said, "Even an evil Witch Demon and a powerful giant dragon wouldn’t be this disrespectful! Nor would they inflate their ego to believe they are the masters of all! Perhaps your words can persuade my companions, but there’s still a huge gap in convincing me. So far, I’m the one directing this northward expedition. I’m responsible for everyone’s safety, especially Soka. I do not agree to your request!"
"Mage, we mean no harm; I can assure you of that."
"Your assurances mean nothing, not even your vows would I trust," Lynch said. "I judge a person’s actions by what they’ve done, not what they say. Moreover, unless Soka’s parents are here, I must take on the responsibility of caring for this little girl. She has already suffered a lot after being kidnapped last time, and I won’t let that happen again."
"Mage sir, though your words are filled with suspicion, we understand your current feelings," said the voice. "We have the ability to ensure her safety and can relay all we wish to say in just a moment. By then, the Angel will instantly return to your side, unharmed."
"Since you can choose someone for a mind conversation, conversing with Soka without me hearing, and discreetly communicating with Macken Knight through gestures, why not just explain the situation now?" Lynch’s voice rose higher, a thunderous force mingling in it. He waved his arm, a rainbow-like light band encircling the carriage and enveloping everyone. The group frowned, realizing they could no longer communicate mentally with anyone there. The Mage pointed the Powerful Wand at them, saying in an unarguable tone, "If you have something to say, say it now! Any direct powers affecting the mind are now prohibited, and any further action will be seen as hostile!"
"Lynch, is this necessary?" Macken Knight surveyed the situation, "Since there’s a misunderstanding among you, we’ll just leave. Besides, I’m no longer with the Knight Order; they probably have mistaken me for someone else."
"Mage sir, you’re being overly cautious," a hoarse, hollow voice intermittently came through, like a whimpering sound echoing from a wind-blown hollow tree, making one feel uneasy. "We cannot reveal our identities due to an important mission, yet this helplessness has earned your distrust. If everyone on the continent stops trusting others, then kindness will ultimately fall."
"If kindness becomes like what you say, then let it fall because we don’t need foolish things," Lynch said finally. "We’ve wasted too much time here, Zilvra, return to the carriage; we should depart now."
As the Mage spoke, he continued to watch the group’s actions with cautious vigilance. However, even after they left the Mage’s line of sight, there was no further action taken.
"That group wasn’t Undead, nor were they Illusion Techniques," Zilvra had secretly circled behind them to observe. "By my sense, those guys should exist between death and survival. Lynch, what do you think they were?"
"I don’t know; the Anriel World still hides many secrets, never revealing its veil," the Mage said. "Did they follow us later?"
"I’ve been waiting for them!" Morgan said, "These secretive guys speak evasively, not straightforward at all."
This matter left a deep impression on them, but after the Dwarf said this sentence, there was no further discussion. Soka was forbidden from leaving the carriage, yet she still happily played with the tiger inside. Macken Knight remained silent, at least outwardly giving up on uncovering the story of those mysterious beings.
