Mage Legend
Chapter 672: Legendary and Legends in Legends Sixteen Old Friends_3
"Guards? No, no, no. I would rather buy some ferocious big dogs, even if their teeth are thicker than my body, I don't care." Moni continued to urge Xibao, making his body do a little more activity, and said: "At least dogs know who their master is, but those guys... how should I put it? I just can't trust them."
"We need to be more careful now. Especially since there's already a war outside," Lynch said. "But as far as I know, Nimo is still very safe, living somewhere in Haisas. That place hasn't been touched by the flames of war." The mage snapped his fingers and addressed someone sitting at another table, "Eryies, could you check what those magicians are up to? But try not to be too conspicuous."
"Alright, master." The Desire Demon barely managed to avoid saying "dear." She stood up and quickly vanished out of the tavern. Moni worriedly said, "Is this okay? Those magicians are all strange people."
"In fact, no one is stranger than us!" Morgan stroked his beard and shouted at Lynch, "On a thousand stones, when will you introduce us to your friends?"
"Alright, everyone, take off your masks." Lynch nodded, "It seems they're not as rampant in the city as they are outside. However, this concerns me even more. Moni, tell me in detail about those guys."
"Sure, but have a sip of tea first." The dwarf blinked and smiled, "Now that you're here, I feel relieved."
Lynch quietly listened to Moni's tale, trying to piece the whole thing together. Near the entrance to the Underworld, the mage instructed Norton to hide the All-Knowing Tower, disguising it to look exactly like the surrounding mountains. After all, he couldn't bring the entire city to the Underworld, so he only brought along Zilvra, Soka, and Morgan. But, considering that they might need a communication expert in the group—after all, Lynch couldn't always make appearances since he was wanted—the Desire Demon Eryies also tagged along.
The journey went smoothly; they didn't even need a Legendary Mage to make a move, as Morgan and Zilvra dissolved all dangers into nothingness. The dwarf seemed very excited when he reached the underground. He kept commenting on the surrounding stones, calling those things "he" or "she" instead of "it." That's when Zilvra said, "Red Beard, why don't you marry a 'she'? And then shut that loud mouth of yours that exposes our whereabouts?"
The magicians appeared, initially just curious about Lynch's group's purpose, greeting them friendly. But when they learned that these five people were headed to the Dwarf City, they launched a surprise attack from behind.
Unfortunately, they picked the wrong opponents. Lynch remained silent, vigilantly observing these people with Zilvra. Just as their first spell was being cast, Zilvra's figure flashed, and the spiral piercing thin sword had already stabbed into the first magician's body.
What followed was four fireballs, supposedly enough to settle the fight, which Lynch suppressed all by himself. If not for the need to leave someone alive for questioning, the mage could have completely rebounded their magic and quickly ended the battle.
But Morgan's flying axe and Eryies's spiritual shock had already taken care of their enemies. The magicians had never expected such a quick and powerful counterattack. They attempted to escape using invisibility, but such actions were useless against the three ladies. Luckily, Lynch showed mercy and captured one alive, but before the Desire Demon could begin the interrogation, he had already poisoned himself.
This very fact aroused Lynch's suspicion. To avoid alerting the enemy, they disguised themselves in these people's clothes and sneaked into the Dwarf City. It seemed the magicians were targeting something specific in Dwarf City; otherwise, they wouldn't prohibit outsiders from entering. Their reputation in the city was quite good—aside from sensitive residents like Moni, most dwarves quite enjoyed their performances.
"This is outrageous! Those magicians are chasing away visitors outside!" Moni fumed, "They can't stay here any longer, such actions have crossed the line."
"Calm down, my friend." Lynch consoled, "Because they haven't achieved their goal yet, merely saying a few words won't make them leave. Moreover, I'm very interested in what they're looking for."
"By the way, I haven't asked, why have you come back this time?" Moni suddenly realized and asked, "How long has it been since we last met? Three or four years? Even little Soka has grown into a beautiful young lady. Honestly, if not for the wings on your back, I wouldn't have dared to recognize you."
The little angel shyly smiled, recalling the happy days she spent here after escaping from Ratris City. Back then, she was almost as tall as the dwarves and was once scolded by Lynch for flying with a little dwarf in her arms. But that was one of her fond memories—a beautiful time except for not having fruit.
"I've come this time to check on that damaged transmission device," Lynch told Moni, "The one that tossed Deluo and me here and almost transported a Black Dragon to the Dwarf City."
"That thing has been moved to the warehouse for now, but we'll be able to find it, there's no need to worry." Moni said, "Tell me, why are you looking for it again? Isn't it supposed to be very dangerous?"
"I believe I can fix it now and get it working," Lynch replied, "But I'll need the help of the council elders. I haven't fully grasped many of your things. Sometimes, I can't even imagine how you come up with such wonderful things."
"As Karami said: magical things are actually very ordinary. We just make daydreams here and ambitiously try to realize those dreams! Isn't that right, Xibao!"
"Yes, old Moni. But that sounds like Karami's words to persuade me to lose weight. How did you overhear that?" The innkeeper shouted from across the room, "Lynch, this inn is named after you, what do you think?"
"I think it's great, except the chairs are a bit tight." Lynch laughed heartily, recalling the times he performed illusions for Xibao's five children at their home when the plump dwarf said he was going to open an inn named after the mage, a plan that he didn't expect to be realized now. "I'll leave you with some real magic items, so you can have beautiful magic performances even when I'm not around. How about that?"
"That would be wonderful," Xibao said gleefully, "I'll keep them safe, otherwise, my little rascals at home will surely break them. Do you have a place to stay? I still have a few rooms here! They are long, wide beds with soft pillows filled with spices. I've specially reserved them for VIPs!"
The mage glanced at his companions. The dwarf's focus was entirely on the mead in front of him, while Zilvra and Soka nodded.
"Alright, we'll stay here. Now, we just have to wait for Eryies to return." Lynch took Moni's hand, "Where is Elder Langda residing now? I'd really like to see him."
