Mage Legend
Chapter 788 - 47: Startling the Snake (Part 2)
The warriors' attacks on the Rainbow Light Magic Wall couldn't form a true threat; using muscles and weapons almost couldn't destroy such a high-level spell effect. However, among the snake-men, there were quite a few spellcasters who launched a bombardment on the Rainbow Light Magic Wall from behind the snake-men warriors.
First, they summoned flames from the sky, which opened their bloody mouths like giant serpents and fiercely bit into the rainbow-colored force field. The barrier shook violently under the impact, and the ground trembled incessantly. Cracks, like spider webs, spread outward from the base of the Rainbow Light Magic Wall, and the dome formed by the entire barrier became shorter.
But this wasn't the snake-men's goal; merely using barbaric spell bombardment would hardly inflict fatal damage on such protection. The fire columns they summoned were just to make the whole spell more fragile and keep Lynch too busy to attend to other attacks. Just as many fire snakes were extinguished on the magic wall, various dispelling spells from the snake-men spellcasters quickly followed.
Different protective layers require different spells to dispel, which takes a tremendous amount of time. Even a skilled spellcaster like Kuboert was helpless against Lynch's Rainbow Light Magic Wall. However, the snake-men had an advantage even Kuboert lacked—their numbers. To break Lynch's barrier, these snakes didn't need to research the sequence or which spells were needed to unlock the protection; they simply bombarded the Rainbow Light Magic Wall with all possible spells at once.
"Damn it!" Lynch cursed under his breath. Facing such chaotic and brutal attacks, those cautious spell control appeared weak and powerless. The mage could not immediately repair the cracks in the Rainbow Light Magic Wall, and could only watch it crumble into dust in his hands.
If Lynch were facing the snake-men's troops alone, with what he had learned from bloody battles and watching the black-robed mage's fight, he could have guaranteed his safety. Although these snake-men's attacks were crazy, they couldn't compare to the chaos and dizziness that could be caused by the devil's attack, and were vastly different from the devils' orderly and tightly knit approach. Lynch's mind instantly devised multiple ways to survive and achieve victory from the enemy's attack, but that was just for himself; it couldn't ensure the safety of the bombs and assault team.
Now, the enemy's greatest advantage was that they had completely surrounded Lynch, capable of launching an attack from any direction. In this situation, no matter how skilled Lynch was, he would be overwhelmed. Thinking of this, the mage quickly pulled out a bundle of scrolls from his sleeve and let the power of the Magic Origin flow rapidly through them.
This was an anti-gravity magic that expanded its area of effect, originally intended to improve the transportation between the All-Knowing Tower and the Five Realms Fortress. To allow those who couldn't fly to scale the Mage Tower and allow smoother transport of goods, Lynch had previously created several such scrolls.
The spell immediately took effect, forming a massive annular anti-gravity field around the Black Teleportation Stone. As the Great Mage, Lynch naturally mastered the ability to shape spells, effortlessly creating unaffected areas within a range spell.
The snake-men only felt a slip underfoot, their heads pounded with blood, then one after another "fell" into the sky. They kept tumbling, trying to grab something to gain balance, but what fixed objects were there in the air? Snake-men soldiers grimaced and collided with each other, becoming chaotic instantly.
"Great Mage, the bombs have been set!" said a mage from the association, standing up next to the timer, wiping the sweat from his forehead as he spoke: "Now we just need everyone to hold out a little longer!"
The paladins exchanged a look, quickly and tacitly gathered the mages they were protecting, using the tower shields to shelter them from above. Since the nearby snake-men had all floated into the air, and the distant enemies posed no threat at all, now the warriors only needed to defend one direction—directly above—and that was sufficient.
The snake-men warriors desperately hurled everything they could use to attack Lynch, even resorting to heavy coins. However, they made a significant mistake: although Lynch stood on the ground while the snake-men were high above, within the range of the anti-gravity effect, the snake-men had to cancel out the weight of the items to throw them. Originally floating in the air, it was hard to exert force, and the weapons they tossed only flew for a short while before falling back into the high-altitude position of the snake-men.
