Mage Legend
Chapter 794 - 49: Factions (Part 2)
"Sounds pretty good." Lynch nodded, "But since you can increase crop yields without the God of Nature, and your science has freed itself from the constraints of Divine Power, why do you still need to absorb the powers of those gods?"
The serpent lowered its arms, returning to a calm and serious expression, "As I said before, only when a stable rule is established can science truly become a power. When the will of the gods overrides those fundamental rules, everything here turns into a ridiculous prank, much like the inventions of the dwarfs. To create a world where science can become reality, I cannot allow other gods to interfere with its operation."
"A singular god, is that what you want?" Lynch crossed his arms, "Then why did you ignite a war across the continent? The clashes between gods do not have to spill over into mortal lives. Is it worth plunging the entire world into flames for such a cost?"
"Lynch, although your power is formidable, your perspective remains too narrow. Many gods speak among themselves of a mage who commands the demonic and devilish forces of the lower planes, one who can alter the balance of any war. This is why I've always hoped you would view things from a different angle and understand me instead of opposing me," the serpent said passionately, "Do you think I am blind to the horrors of war? Do you think I can't see such simple choices? You must know, the only reason I chose this path is because of the looming resurgence of the Magic God."
"Mage, mortal. You cannot wield the power of the Magic Origin. Once you learn all the abilities inscribed on the scrolls, the Magic God will awaken! He will retaliate against all mages!"
"That's just your speculation."
"Mortal, you have eyes that see insight but lack the divine vision! Let me share with you some internal secrets that have eluded you.
The Magic God, the Magic God is a lofty observer, seated upon his ornate and magnificent throne, watching the bustling mortals on earth with wide eyes, holding his breath.
The Magic God, with the Magic Power he commands, crafted a set of game rules, a perverse set of rules, to satiate his voyeuristic desires, his 'own' peeping cravings! It is a self-opposing magic rule.
You can know magic, but you cannot use it; You use magic, but you cannot master it; You master magic, yet you cannot possess it; when you become powerful enough to possess magic, what then? Ha! You cannot surpass it!!
And he, seated there, with the Magic Origin in hand, delights in the toys bound by layers of chains! When you touch upon the game rules, when you attempt to break free from such dominion, like the ancient Great Arcanists did. What then did he do?
He imprisoned the Magic Origin's power from the world! No one could ever touch that immense might again. He's like a cheating child, he won't play anymore, you want to defy me? Damn it, I'm not playing anymore!
Scorn him, mortal! Ha! There's more to make your stomach turn, it'll sicken you to sleeplessness. Ha! It'll sicken you to tremble all over, but the facts are indeed so…
He left behind the Magic Network. Oh, a simple and useful tool, letting a small crowd continue to boast contentedly for that tiny bit of power, grateful. How generous, isn't it? How magnanimous, isn't it? How selfless, isn't it? Ha! It's merely for the pleasure of watching mortals play on his board as pawns, to bring him the joy of observation!
The Magic Network, in fact, channels power from the Magic Origin, doesn't it? Surely you've noticed. He absorbs the strength of mages all over the world! He offered delicious food to the world, letting mages devour it, that was the past! And now? He ingests again what has been digested after those mages!
And he left behind these five scrolls, letting you, letting me rediscover the existence of the Magic Origin? Does he have benevolent intentions? Do you think your power is sufficient to control the Magic Origin? No! You lack divinity, you cannot wield such power. So what will happen? Ha! Think carefully, what will happen?
