CHAPTER 37: HATCHLING

I was woken from my slumber by the sound of a crack. Whilst asleep I was sandwiched between my two lovely ladies however when I head that crack I don’t even know how I got up but the next thing I knew I was holding the head sized egg and gently lowering it to the ground and crouching over it whilst staring intently at the singular hairline crack that had appeared in its shell.

"Wah Lilly where’d you bolt off to?" I head Kanas groggy voice come from the bed, this was accompanied by Amanda’s grumbles.

Without taking my eyes off the egg I replied in a low tone. "The egg is hatching a crack has just appeared." At my words I heard a flurry of movement as it seemed my words fully awoke the two women. Before long they were by my side both also observing the egg.

CRACK

Another crack appeared on the egg accompanied by a slight rocking. "What do we do? Do we help it get out?" Kanas slightly panicked voice reached me as she extended a hand towards the egg.

I slapped her hand away and spoke. "No!" I maybe used a touch too much force in that slap and was a touch too harsh with my tone so I took a deep breath and spoke again, this time keeping my voice soft. "I’m sorry, but no we don’t help it. It needs to get out by itself, I’m not sure why I know this but I know that if we help it get out it will be bad. So we must wait and trust that my baby will make it out of there by itself!" I noticed the strange looks that both Kana and Amanda gave each other over my choice of calling it my baby but at this time I didn’t care I was too focused on the gently rocking egg.

CRACK

Another line appeared and was shortly followed by another. It went still for some time as if gathering its strength for a final push. I unconsciously held my breath as I awaited the next movement.

CRACK!

A small chunk of the egg shell fell away nearly bigger than a coin but that small gap showed the way for the little one and after a moments pause the loudest crack yet echoed out as another section of the egg was knocked free this time allowing a forest green snout to poke out slightly I heard Kana let out a little squeal at this sight which made the snout disappear back into the egg. I gave Kana an anoyed look that told her to be quiet.

"Come on little one one more push and you can be free come out and say hi to mamma." I cooed to it, this seemed to do the trick.

CRACK!!

The top half of the shell broke away and fell to the side as a green head poked out from the egg, I leaned forwards to get a better look and its head turned in my direction and I met its golden eyes as I smiled loveingly at it. The little one slowly slithered out of the egg revealing its full form to all of us. It had a snake like body covered in deep green scales with a lighter tone of green for its underbelly. However, unlike a snake it also had two legs around 2/3rds of the way up its body which it used to pull itself out of the shell.

I let out a delighted laugh as I extended my hand towards the little one as I spoke. "Ain’t you just the most adorable little one iv ever seen, it’s so nice to finally meet you." My tone was gentle and full of my love for this creature that even though it technically wasn’t my baby it didn’t matter to me as I knew that this little one would receive all the love and affection that it could ever want from me.

As my hand got close to it face it extended its neck and sniffed at my hand, I expanded my Aura of Life towards it ina greeting, it seemed to recognise my energy and its golden eyes flashed. And then it suddenly rocked forwards and opened its mouth as it bit me on my finger! I froze at the sudden action, it didn’t hurt physically but for a moment my heart broke as I wondered if this meant that it had rejected me, however this was washed away when a system screen appeared before me.

[The Dragon of Nature has marked you. Do you wish to form a bond with it?]

My eyes widened as I read that message and before I could even fully process it I had accepted the bond.

A flash of golden and green light erupted from the spot the baby dragon had bitten me and I felt a heat permitted my body and in particular on my right bicep. Looking at that spot I watched in amazement as a green and golden tattoo slowly formed around my arm it depicted the little dragon before me wrapped around my arm and biting its tail as if encircling me, it would seem that this is proof of my bond to this baby dragon before me.

With this bond I felt a connection form between myself and the dragon before me as some very simple emotions were projected towards me. They were of happiness, love and to my amusement hunger. I couldn’t help but laugh in delight as it released my finger and I gently stoked the baby’s head and along its back loveingly. "Ok little one you need to eat you egg now alright, you will feel better once you do so." Saying this I turned its small head towards its shell and gestured towards it. It seemed to understand what to do as it leans down and started to eat the shell piece by piece.

As I watched it eat the shell I then remembered that I wasn’t alone and glances up at the two women around me. Sensing that I was no longer focused on the dragon Amanda spoke up. "Umm a couple of questions, first why did it bite you and why do you now have a tattoo on your arm. Also do you know what kind of creature it is? I don’t think iv ever seen a snake like it before.

Laughing at the short barrage of questions I answered nevertheless. "Well it isn’t a snake, and it bit me so that it could form a bond with me the tattoo is the physical representation of our bond."

"Wait it formed a bond with you!? Only extreemally rare and powerful creatures can form bonds and iv never heard of any creature being able to form a bond right at birth!" Amanda continued obviously quite confused at the whole series of events.

I smiled and answered her. "Well I don’t know about other creatures and bonds but I do know that this isn’t just any creature. It is a Dragon of Nature." I heard two sharp intakes of breath at my words. Glancing at the two women in confusion I raised my eyebrow in obvious question.

Kana replied this time. "Are you sure that it is a dragon?"

I nodded. "Yes the system told me so."

"By the gods, a dragon hasn’t been seen for almost as long as the elves have been gone, I thought they were extinct just like the elves were." She let out a soft snort of amusement. "Well I guess you are just making it your mission to bring back every lost race then eh?" I couldn’t help but laugh at that as I shook my head in wonder.

Turning back to the baby dragon before me I decided to explore the bond that I now shared with it. Through that bond I discovered that it was in fact a she. And when I sent over a question about if it had a name it sent back a feeling of a negative. Humming to myself I muttered. "Hmm your going to need a name aren’t you girl." I thought for a moment before throwing one out there. "What do you think about Dawn for you name?" I ask the baby dragon, it pauses its feast and looks over at me and I feel a wave of acceptance and joy at the name coming from my bonded daughter.

Feeling my smile grow even wider I spoke again. "Well then Dawn allow me to formally introduce myself my name is Lilliana but you can just think of me as your mamma." I looked up at the 2 women by my side and spoke again. "And these two lovely women are called Kana and Amanda, both of you meet Dawn!" They give the adorable dragon little waves and Dawn in turn lets out an adorable hiss in greeting before returning to her meal.

"Ok I have to admit it." Kana stated. "Dawn is quite possibly the single cutest creature I have ever seen, and I still can hardly believe that she is a dragon!"

Laughing a squeezed both of their hands with my smile never leaving my face. "Haha well it wouldn’t be right for me to be the only legendary race in our little party now would it!" I let out a snort at that before continuing. "But in all seriousness now, what do baby dragons eat? Because if it need milk then we may have a slight problem." I let out a slightly nervous laugh at that.

Amanda laughs at that before answering. "Lilly it’s a reptile they don’t drink milk, well she probably could but that’s besides the point. No you should be fine to give her meat if probably recomend giving her meat from strong magical monsters though id imagine that will help her in her development."

"Ohh that’s a relief thank you for letting me know Amanda!" I have her a grateful look and gave her hand another squeeze. It was around this time that Dawn finished off eating the last of her egg, now she lay there with a slightly bulging stomach which caused a light giggle to escape from me. Pulling my hands free I gently scooped Dawn up and held her to my chest as I gave her the warmest embrace I could. I also looked out the window and noticing that it was still the middle of the night I decided that we could all do with a nap.

Motioning to the girls and making my way back into bed I laid down in the middle in my back with Dawn curled up in between my breasts and looking quite pleased with her current predicament. I was also reviving plenty of feeling of love and comfort through the bond, I made sure to send back all my feelings of love for the little one right back to her.

And like that Kana and Amanda crawled back into bed and snuggled up next to me they both gave some light strokes to the baby dragon and we all settled back in for a night of sleep.
