Then, he walked over to the tea table, picked up the teapot, and poured Sophie a cup of hot tea.

"Your cousin, isn’t she coming with you?"

"She went back to Hai City alone. Her flight is this afternoon, and after I dropped her at Yashi station, I didn’t stay with her."

As she spoke, her gaze landed on the sofa next to Li Jing, somewhat cautiously asking: "Can I sit down?"

Li Jing flashed a warm smile, laughing:

"Of course, we might as well be considered friends, no need to be so reserved, just make yourself at home."

Sophie settled onto the sofa, pouting slightly, half-jokingly muttering:

"I dare not be too casual; this place is so expensive. If I break anything, I can’t afford it."

Li Jing found her demeanor amusing, laughter brewing in his eyes:

"Don’t worry, even if something does get broken, I’m here to cover it."

Sophie responded by lightly pouting but still obediently cradled the tea cup Li Jing handed over, softly saying "Thank you."

Li Jing took a sip of tea, breaking the slightly awkward mood, speaking plainly:

"Why did you suddenly come looking for me? I was just planning to return to Hai City; if it wasn’t for you saying you’d come over, I’d probably have checked out by now."

"You’re leaving?"

Sophie heard this, her face changing slightly, the tea cup she had just placed down trembling slightly.

"You’re done with your trip and leaving Hai Province?"

She almost instinctively blurted out: "Since you’re going back to Hai City, how about staying here for a few more days?

I still have a few days off and can keep you company."
