CHAPTER 46: CH 46: SECOND KNIGHT AND HER PLEDGE

While Elise was focusing all her mind in creating a perfectly stable core, Weiss was keeping a very close eye on the process.

Other than her own, this was also Weiss’s first time observing someone creating their core. So Weiss was analysing it very thoroughly.

Elise’s core formation process was going very smoothly. She faced no difficulty and it looked like it was only a matter of time before the core formation was done.

But still there was a possibility that the effect of artifact used on her was still not completely gone. So Weiss was still ready if something went wrong.

But fortunately, nothing like that happened. Soon all the life force in her body gathered toward a single point and Elsie reached the last steps of her core formation.

This was the exact moment when Weiss gave another medicine to Elise. One of the helping lady was ready with the medicine in her hands and she handed it to Weiss as soon as she was told.

This time, the medicine was a liquid and Weiss made Elise to drink it immediately. As she was a special case and she had a core in her body previously, the area around the heart where the core would be located was already formed.

So this new medicine would make that area soft so that it could change itself and adapt to the new core.

This was the last thing that Weiss needed to do for the time being, so she got away from Elise and came out of the pool. Now Elise could completely focus on getting her life core back without any distractions.

The last step of the core formation lasted for about an hour and for all this time, both Weiss and the three ladies stayed in the bath and kept an eye on the situation.

As her life force already had the needed colour and purity, there was no change in it. But Weiss was able to feel the unique aura and pressure that only a knight could produce coming from Elise. That could only mean that she was sucessful in regaining her core.

Seeing this, Weiss immediately asked the ladies to bring a lot of food here. The kitchen was already done cooking them, so now the ladies just needed to bring them here in the bath.

A person undergoing core formation would use up a lot of energy. So after the whole process was over, Elise was definitely going to feel extremely hungry.

So Weiss had made preprations beforehand and had told the castle kitchen to cook a lot of food for that day.

After the core formation was done, the green glow disappeared from her body and Elise stood up in the pool. Weiss immediately handed her a towel and congratulated her.

"Congrats. You have done well."

It was a very short message but it reached Elise’s heart. So after coming out of the pool, even without drying her body, she kneeled before Weiss on one knee, put her fisted hand on her chest and proclaimed -

"I, Elise Triston, pledge my body, my sword and my soul in service of my mistress, Weiss Souran. From now on, all my mistress’s enemies are my enemies and I will always be ready to cut them down. Even after death, I wish for my soul and bloodline to continue serving my beloved mistress."

Weiss had read about this exact pledge in one of the books. It was the most harsh pledge that only retainers with extreme level of loyalty could made. Getting a pledge like that was extremely gratifying for any lord.

Karl was given a name by Weiss after he had made his pledge to her. But as Elise was not giving up on her family, there was no need for a new name this time. So Weiss replied to her earnest pledge in a way that Weiss thought was the best.

Weiss hugged Elise gently and patted her back. Then she stood up again and gave her hands to Elise.

Elise was overjoyed by this gesture and landed her lips on the hands and lightly kissed it. This was a tradition of the Brightshine kingdom to accept a new knight.

Now Weiss had two knights under her and both of them were exceptional ones.

This was a very moving moment but it was immediately ruined by a loud growling of a stomach. And the source of this sound was none other than Elise.

Currently she was obviously extremely hungry, so her tummy had started protesting loudly in demand of some food. And after this Elise’s face had turned completely beet red in embarrassment.

At this exact moment, the other ladies returned back with plates of food on their hands. Seeing this, Weiss told them to put the plates of foods in front of Elise.

As Elise started eating while her face was still red, Weiss started to take all the equipments out of the bathroom. Watching this core formation process had been extremely insightful to her, so Weiss was planning to quickly write down her thoughts.

The next day after Elise’s core formation, on the outskirts of the village, a sword user clad in a back robe was seen cutting down wolves one after another.

These wolves had been attacking the Souran village for the last few days but as they numbered only a few, the villagers were able to scare them off.

But today, the lord of the village had decided to take care of this trouble completely just to be safe and had even brought the black swordmaster with her for the job.

She was now watching the black swordmaster in action alongside some other villagers who were in a very high spirit.

"Ohh, master black is so strong."

"Looks how fast the sword is moving. I can’t even follow it with my eyes."

"Isn’t master black looking a little taller than the last time ?"

Some of them did thought that the last time they had seen the black swordmaster, he looked to be smaller in size. But as they were quite far away from him at that time, it was believable that they had just misjudged his height.

But it turned out that not just the height but the villagers had misjudged even the gender of the black swordmaster as she was actually a woman.

After learning this today, the ladies of the villages had gotten very excited and were planning to start training just like the men. This truth had made even the men excited as a female knight was much more rare than a male one.

With the black swordmaster’s strength, she had killed all the wolves in a blink of an eyes. Immediately after that the villagers happily went to dismantle the wolves while the swordmaster return by her mistress’ side. Then both of them started to go back to the castle.

With the addition of new villagers, the mood of the village was already on a high note. And after witnessing the reassuring strength of the black swordmaster again, this mood became even better. The hope in the hearts of the villagers was now burning brighter than ever.
