CHAPTER 478: GIFT SUCCESSFULLY DELIVERED!
Chapter 478
TWO DAYS LATER!
It was finally two days later, the day Grey had set for Dame to come collect his rewards. He and Thalos would both return to Aetherian Academy tomorrow, but today, there was still some time to pass.
Grey and Thalos had just finished their breakfast. With nothing pressing to do, Thalos lazily slouched on the bed while Grey, as usual, was absorbed in the magic book he had recently acquired.
’I still need to fully awaken my lightning magic. Once I do, I think I’ll be ready to tackle those annoyingly proud direct descendants.’ Grey thought as he casually flipped through the pages, eyes scanning the intricate text.
"Lightning magic is quite the explosive and unstable element. It requires precision, calmness, and strength to control and utilize the affinity properly. Otherwise, it might just spiral out of control and blow up in your face."
Grey paused, imagining Thalos’ master laughing after reading the last line. With a sigh, he continued reading.
"I really don’t know how to explain the proper usage of lightning magic, since I wasn’t fortunate enough to awaken the affinity myself. But from what I have learned, to control it properly, you need to practice in a thunderstorm or some similar environment."
’Huh? Thunderstorm? Wait, what the hell?!’ Grey roared internally, staring at his hands with furrowed brows.
"Hey Thal!" Grey called out, making the gargoyle glare at him instantly.
"Don’t you ever call me Thal again or I will lose it," Thalos scowled, his anger barely restrained.
Ignoring the warning, Grey pressed on with the question on his mind.
"How often does this world experience thunderstorms?"
"What’s a thunderstorm?" Thalos asked with a raised brow.
"Tsk! Figured," Grey scoffed before turning back to the book, letting out a heavy sigh.
’I don’t know how else to awaken this affinity now. I already have wind and lightning, and I managed to awaken one, but awakening the other seems near impossible,’ he thought, his voice heavy with resignation.
He was about to continue reading when a knock echoed at the door. Then another, and finally, a third.
Recognizing the coded knock, Grey carefully stored the book in his pendant and pulled his hood over his head.
In a few minutes, he opened the door to see Dame smiling brightly at him.
"Good to see you’re okay, Supreme Magus," Dame said as Grey stepped aside, letting him enter.
"What’s up, Pink?" Dame greeted casually, waving at Thalos, who only scoffed in response.
"What have you been up to the past few days?" Grey asked with a raised eyebrow.
The question caused Dame to freeze. His face darkened for a moment as he thought back to the mission his father had assigned him. He quickly shook his head subtly, forcing a smile to mask his worry.
"Nothing much. Just prancing around town, fooling from one place to the next," Dame replied with a shrug, trying to sound casual.
"Oh!" Grey said nonchalantly, then strode over to the table and grabbed a small pouch. Without another word, he tossed it to Dame.
"What’s this?" Dame asked cautiously as he caught the pouch.
"Open it," Grey said simply, and the warrior did so carefully.
"Huh?" Dame muttered, confused as he looked inside. Seven purple pills and ten blue pills rested neatly within the brown fabric of the pouch.
"What is this?" he asked, looking up at Grey.
"Pills. Duh!" Grey replied, frowning.
"I know what they are, but I can get any kind of pill I want at any moment. So why these pills? These look different from the ones we have here," Dame muttered, his brow furrowed as he examined the contents more closely.
"That’s because they are different, dumbass," Grey said, facepalming himself.
"Huh? How so?" Dame asked as he grabbed a purple pill, lifting it up to examine it closely.
There, he could see the initials engraved on the pill.
’Did he craft these himself?’ he thought, his curiosity piqued.
"Usually, I would have wanted you to figure it out yourself. But I feel like you need to know exactly what you are getting into," Grey said, causing Dame to look up, fully interested now.
"See, the purple pills help to refill a warrior’s Ki to the brim. But it will only stay that way for five minutes, and after that, you’ll be left with no Ki at all. Then the blue pills boost one’s speed by a stage for two minutes."
"Hold on! Boost speed by a stage?" Dame asked, raising an eyebrow.
"If one is a stage 3 warrior and they take that pill, their speed will match that of a stage 4 warrior for just two minutes. So you have exactly two minutes to overpower your opponent with overwhelming speed," Grey calmly explained, his tone matter-of-fact.
Hearing this, Dame’s eyes bulged so wide they nearly popped out of his sockets.
"Th...this..." he stuttered, his voice barely audible in shock.
’A pill to refill Ki for five minutes and a pill to boost speed for two minutes? Is that even possible? Is he serious right now? If he is, then this is too precious of a gift to ever waste,’ Dame thought, staring at Grey with eyes glistening.
"Thank you," he said sincerely.
"For a fearsome-looking warrior like you, you sure look like a crybaby," Grey chuckled loudly, holding his stomach as he laughed.
"Really, you don’t know what you’ve just done for me," Dame smiled widely, closing the pouch and tucking it into his pants.
"By the way, we are leaving tomorrow morning. So don’t bother trying to reach here—we’ll leave on our own. Don’t worry about us," Grey said as he stretched over to the table and grabbed an apple.
He sank his teeth into it, chewing slowly while keeping his eyes on Dame, who continued to smile in awe.
"Supreme Magus," Dame said, bowing slightly in respect. "If what you say about these pills is true, and the effects are real, then I will owe you my life. I promise to do whatever you want me to do."
"Kek! I’ll cash out on that soon, because I guarantee you, I don’t lie. I’m probably the most honest person you’ll ever meet, from not just this world, but two worlds," Grey said with a wide grin as he took another bite of his apple, savoring it.
