Magus Supremacy
Chapter 486: Reclaim the Town!
CHAPTER 486: RECLAIM THE TOWN!
Chapter 486
"Help me!" a civilian screamed in terror as the Lycan’s claws swung down toward her face with tremendous speed.
’I guess I should just accept my fate the way it is, huh,’ the woman thought dejectedly, her body trembling as she prepared to snap her eyes shut in fright.
But before she could, a sudden wooshing sound tore through the air.
A whip shot forward like a serpent, snaking around the Lycan’s arm and locking it in place, refusing to let it budge an inch.
"Get away from here. Now," a cold feminine voice whispered into the woman’s ears like a breath of icy wind.
The civilian’s eyes widened, hope flaring in her chest. Without wasting her second chance at life, she bolted away, barely making it out of range. Just in time, too, as the whip wielder yanked her weapon forward with brutal force, pulling the beast off balance and sending it tumbling forward.
Before it could slam into the ground, the young woman leaped into the air with athletic grace. Her legs coiled like springs before she unleashed a devastating double kick to the Lycan’s jaw.
Bone cracked audibly as its teeth smashed together, and the monster’s massive body was hurled backward at tremendous speed, bouncing across the rocky terrain like a discarded ragdoll.
Landing with feline grace, the young woman’s boots kissed the ground softly. Her expression, however, remained tense, a deep frown etching her face as her sharp eyes swept over the town that had already descended into chaos.
This was Noelle.
’Well, she’s good,’ Grey thought from the vantage point where he stood, arms crossed as he observed the battle unfold. His gaze shifted slightly as he caught sight of the other two descendants dropping down from the sky to support Noelle.
"Come on, let’s go!" Liam shouted, his voice urgent as he sprang forward. Ray followed suit, and finally, Grey descended as well.
"Ahhh!" A shrill scream pierced the air. Noelle spun instantly, her whip ready, only to find a small boy frozen in terror as another beast barreled toward him with fangs bared.
Before she could act, a thunderous bang resounded, shaking the ground. Dust billowed everywhere, cloaking the scene in murk. When it cleared, a chilling sight appeared.
Rivock stood tall, a disturbing smile stretched across his face. At his feet lay the beast, its head twisted at an unnatural angle, lifeless eyes staring blankly into nothingness.
"You okay, kid?" Rivock asked, his voice surprisingly soft as he crouched down in front of the boy. His smile, however, carried an unsettling weight, one that sent shivers down the spine.
The boy stammered, "Y...y...yes. Tha...thank you, strong uncle."
"Uncle?" Rivock raised a brow but chuckled anyway, standing back up. He reached out and ruffled the boy’s hair casually, his devilish grin never leaving his face.
AWOOOOH!
Another Lycan burst forward, its roar echoing through the battlefield as it charged at Rivock with frightening speed.
"Look out!" the boy yelled, panic-stricken as the beast leaped high into the air, claws extended to tear the young descendant apart.
Rivock didn’t even bother turning his head. With one lazy motion, he swung his arm backward. His palm slammed into the Lycan’s skull with bone-crushing force. Blood sprayed as a gaping hole appeared in its head, and its lifeless body crumpled to the ground with a sickening thud.
"I’m not that old, now am I?" Rivock muttered, his devilish grin widening as his eyes glowed faintly. The sinister aura that bled off him made the boy’s skin prickle with goosebumps.
"Come on! Let me take you to safety." A calm voice rang out from behind the boy. He spun around to find Liam approaching, his hand extended.
"Go with him," Rivock said firmly, though still smiling in that unsettling way. "The rest of us will handle these bad animals and reclaim your town."
Hearing the words of his so-called strong uncle, the boy quickly nodded and clutched Liam’s hand. Liam wasted no time, leading him and several other civilians away from the battlefield that was quickly becoming a slaughter ground.
"Now... where were we?" Rivock asked, turning back around with a sinister gleam in his eyes.
Ten Lycans now encircled him, their snarls rattling the air as they lowered into predatory stances. The ground quivered slightly under the weight of their bodies as they prepared to pounce.
Instead of fear, Rivock grinned wider, baring his teeth at the beasts as if daring them. His presence radiated wild excitement, the kind of energy that belonged more to a predator than to any human.
"You know..." Rivock’s voice dropped to a dark, amused tone as he planted his feet firmly. His hands twitched slightly, itching for blood. "I’m a little bit of a beast myself."
And with that declaration, the Lycans lunged, claws and fangs flashing with lethal precision.
Rivock laughed.
__
’That arrogant peasant! Wants to be commanding me! Who does he think he is to dare think he can lead our operations?’ Mada snarled inwardly as he leaped back, narrowly avoiding the claw strike of one beast.
Spinning around quickly, he unleashed a swift and solid kick that landed heavily into the abdomen of another, sending it hurtling back at blistering speed. The ground cracked faintly beneath his feet from the sheer force he exerted.
"Me! Mada Slade! How dare you try to command me?!" Mada roared as he brought his sword in front of him, blocking the vicious swipe of the earlier beast. Sparks flew the moment steel clashed against claw.
Swirling Ki into his feet, he dashed to the side at a blistering speed, making use of the beast’s opening. Then, with a surge of maddening force, he slashed his sword forward with every ounce of strength behind it.
An invisible yellow aura burst out with immense velocity, slamming into the beast and decimating it cleanly in two. Its halves collapsed lifelessly with a heavy thud, the ground trembling beneath the corpse.
’Unfortunately, I can only use the two stages of Ki for now. But even that much is more than enough for these low-ranking beasts. Where is their boss?!’ Mada growled internally. His eyes darted across the battlefield, yet before he could take another step forward, ten beasts immediately surrounded him, snarling and baring fangs.
’Hold on! I thought we had some kind of formation. We were supposed to stay close to each other! But the ones who suggested it are nowhere to be found now. Stupid fools!’ Mada spat inwardly, his grip tightening on his sword as veins bulged along his arm. He steadied his stance, waiting for the beasts to make their move.
"Bring it on!" he roared defiantly, his killing intent flooding outward. The beasts responded instantly, dashing toward him in unison like a wave of death.
__
"Honestly, I don’t know if you all are fools, or simply too weak to notice when someone is far above your league." Grey’s calm voice could be heard as he stood unmoving, surrounded by about five beasts ready to pounce on him. His expression was unreadable, but his eyes carried the sharp glint of someone who had already judged their fates.
He sighed softly.
His gaze quickly swept across the small town. Every single person was locked in battle, completely occupied with their fights and too distracted to even notice him.
"Perfect." He mumbled under his breath as the wind began to coil restlessly around his palms, condensing tighter and sharper around his fingers like blades yearning to be unleashed.
"Wind Magic: Wind Pulse Ultra," he called out softly.
The beasts, unwilling to wait any longer, roared and lunged forward.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Multiple deafening cracks resounded in the air. In an instant, small bullet-like holes appeared in the beasts’ heads. They froze mid-motion before collapsing heavily to the ground, lifeless, with thunderous thuds. Dust rose with each impact.
"After all, there’s a reason I’m called the Supreme Magus." He whispered with a small grin tugging at his lips. He was about to step forward to hunt down more beasts when—
WACK!
A sudden punch slammed into his face with brutal force, sending him hurtling back violently through the air.
