CHAPTER 31: WHY DID I HIDE?

The next morning, Leia went for a run in her wolf form. However, what she hadn’t expected was the presence of another wolf in her vicinity in the same forest cover.

’Who’s it?’ Leia thought, scanning her silvery eyes around. As she looked up she realized the dawn broke as the first rays of sunlight started falling on the ground.

’Zei, let’s hurry back. I think someone is around. And I don’t feel it’s one of the Calandrino Brothers,’ Leia told her wolf.

Zei nodded and turned midway to run back to the mansion. She had kept a pair of clothes on the backside of the mansion and quickly wore them after turning into her human form.

As she entered the mansion, she decided to check the rooms of the three alpha brothers. However, to her surprise, all three were in their respective rooms.

’I definitely sensed an alpha around me, but this territory belongs to Darkmoor Pack. Except for these three, no one would even dare to run in that forest. Did I hallucinate?’ Leia thought to herself and walked into her own room.

Sitting on the sofa chair near the window, she took a moment to relax. Her thoughts were still drifted toward the presence of the unknown alpha in the forest.

’Should I ask them when they wake up?’ Leia thought.

’Don’t even think of that. Lucien will put a halt on our run unless he be there,’ Zei said in the back of her head.

’Well, you’re right,’ Leia agreed with her wolf.

Suddenly the cool morning breeze blew from the window, touching Leia’s face. A smile lit up on her face as she looked outside.

"I never thought I would be a part of a pack someday," Leia mumbled before heading to the washroom.

After taking a hot water bath, she changed into a black floral dress with baby pink flower patterns on it. She went to the kitchen, which was empty and decided to prepare a mug of coffee for herself.

Ronan, who would usually wake up early in the morning, came to the kitchen with a glass jar in his hand. But his feet halted at the entrance as he saw Leia.

Momentarily, he was awestruck by Leia. His eyes noticed the soft expressions of her face, a soft smile lingering on her lips and the damp hair, which glistened under the dim light of the kitchen.

As Leia lifted her head sensing a presence, she found no one there.

Ronan had hid behind a pillar while tightly holding the glass jar. He could feel the thundering of his heart.

’Why did I hide? It’s my house,’ Ronan thought. But his body refused to move. ’What’s happening?’ He gulped while knitting his brows together.

"Ronan, why are you doing here?" Leia’s voice landed into his ears, prompting him to turn his head.

He saw her inquisitive smile, and then at himself.

"I-I needed water," Ronan stuttered, not believing himself.

"Do you want to drink coffee? You still seem to be in sleep," Leia said, laughing lightly before walking back into the kitchen.

Ronan got confused at her laugh, but instead of getting angry, he was curious to see more side of Leia.

He went inside the kitchen and filled the jar with water.

"You didn’t answer me. Do you want to have coffee with me?" Leia asked.

"Hmm," Ronan nodded. He took a glass first and drank water.

"You woke up early," he said, turning to her and placing the jar on the counter.

"Because I went to bed early," Leia replied, focusing on the coffee machine.

"It’s been a while since I last drank my handmade coffee," Leia said.

Ronan simply stared at her face when he noticed an eyelash on her cheek. She jolted when his thumb and finger touched her cheek.

"There’s an eyelash," he whispered and finally removed it. Holding her hand, he placed the eyelash on the back of her palm.

"You believe in this!?" Leia mused.

"No. Someone who was close to me used to," Ronan replied.

"Who? Your friend?" Leia asked, smiling.

"Hmm."

Leia closed her eyes and turned around to blew it off her hand. Once done, she focused back on the coffee preparation.

"Here, for you," Leia said, handing him one mug.

Ronan saw how beautifully she made the pattern after pouring the milk into it. She was indeed talented in such stuff. He took a sip, finding the taste nice.

"Tell me about yourself, Ronan," Leia said, lowering the mug in her hand for a moment.

"What do you want to know? I think my brother’s might’ve told you enough about me," he murmured, taking a sip.

"You’re the greatest alpha warrior of the pack–That’s the only thing I know about you," Leia stated.

"Because that’s the only part worth knowing about me," Ronan replied.

"What?" Leia got confused with his answer. "Why would you say that? If you don’t want to tell me, it’s fine," she stated.

Ronan tilted his head to look at her.

"Why do you want to know about me?" Ronan inquired.

"Because we live in the same house," Leia replied. "And I’m going to live here, so I must know people around me."

"There’s nothing to know about me," Ronan stated, again taking sips, but long ones.

Leia felt he got triggered and annoyed for some reason. But she didn’t even say anything that could hurt him.

"Do I have to become your friend to know about you?" she asked softly.

Ronan lowered his gaze at her. "A friend?"

"Hmm. A friend. Then, you may tell me," Leia said.

Ronan’s thumb tightened on the mug as he felt strange looking at Leia from such a close angle.

"Friendship is meant to break some day," Ronan muttered and took the last sip. "It was quite nice. Thank you," he said, turning to the skin.

"Why do you have to sound negative about everything? Just simply say that you don’t want to be my friend," Leia said sharply and brushed past him. She put the mug into the sink and again gazed at him.

"I’m going to meet the people from the pack today. Wanna join me and Kieran?" Leia then asked, again showing the same smile, which caused something unexplainable in Ronan.

"No," Ronan refused, putting the mug on the sink. He grabbed the water jar and rushed out of the kitchen before Leia could speak further to him.
