CHAPTER 164: A GIFT

The next morning came too quickly, or maybe because neither of us could keep our hands off each other throughout the night. I never knew I had such stamina until Drevon. It was like his desires awoke mine, and his vigor was suddenly mine too.

Even at breakfast, Drevon prefers eating me instead, claiming he was hungry not for food but me.

I didn’t even know when I was spread out on top of the table with his head between my legs.

"Mmh..." I dig my hand into his hair, thick and full, with a heavenly feel to it.

He brought me towards a release, and I made the mistake of dropping my gaze. The sight of him between my legs almost made me stop breathing, and when he looked up with lips glistening with my cum, my cheeks burned as I pulled my skirt over quietly, murmuring a swear.

"Ow!"

He bit me!

I pulled my skirt back and found him smirking. My poor thighs were covered in bites, all red but sweetly pleasing.

"Why so shy, little wife?" He maintained eye contact as he took my flesh between his teeth.

"I’m covered in bites!"

He licked the spot, and I shuddered. He straightened on his seat, using the napkin to wipe his mouth like he had a fulfilling meal for the day.

Can I survive this beast?

"There’s something I want to show you."

"What?"

He stood and helped me down the table, adjusting my attire before proceeding to my hair.

"Shall we?" He took my hand and led me out of our chambers.

He briefly told the escorts not to follow us. It was kind of romantic just strolling the grand corridors alone.

On our way, I felt a sharp coldness to my mark; it had been happening for the last few days, randomly, like a ghostly feel of an imprint. It was more painful this time, and I swore I felt a throb.

"Eloise?"

"Hmm?"

"Are you alright?" Drevon stepped into my line of vision to check me, hand beneath my cheek as his eyes roamed my face twisted in pain.

"Did I hurt you?"

"N-No, no!" I assured him. "I just felt dizzy for a bit."

"We should go back, you need rest."

I stopped him. "I really want to see what you want to show me, please? I promise I’m fine."

Drevon didn’t look convinced. He wanted to disagree with me at that moment, but my pleading gaze helped.

In silence, Drevon placed his hand at the small of my back and guided me.

He kept stealing glances along the way, and I kept murmuring, I’m fine.

We got to his study, and I thought that was where we were going, but we strode past the door to another at the end, which I hadn’t seen before. The last I remember was that it was just Drevon’s study that occupied this entire space.

"What’s there?"

"Why don’t we find out?"

I got enthusiastic because I could tell it was something he couldn’t wait to show me.

The doors opened by the knights standing on guard, and I stepped through, halting in astonishment.

It was a grand room with a library too. The space was tall and open, with huge arched windows just like his study, letting in the soft daylight and covering everything in a warm glow. The sight of snow made it more magical, too. I think I could see my garden from here.

Tall bookshelves lined the walls, stretching up to a second-floor balcony with golden railings, the entire shelves filled with more books than I saw in his study. There was a sparkling chandelier that hung from the ceiling. In the center, plush cream colored couches and chairs with golden details, arranged in a circle around a fancy table.

At the far end was a wall decorated with a gold frame, but there was no painting. Beneath was a carved fireplace to keep the place warm.

"It’s stunning!"

"It’s yours."

I whipped my head to him. "What?"

"A queen should have a study. Given the hints you gave, I knew you loved books too, so I made sure I brought in the best ones. I don’t know your favorite read, so I took all of them."

I opened my mouth to speak, but no words could ever be used to describe this moment.

"And..." His hand came forward, holding a bouquet of tulips. "I know it’s late. Forgive your husband. I’ll do better a week after the first snow every year. Happy birthday, my love."

"You..." I swallowed, my eyes stung painfully, my vision blurring as a whole lot of tears streamed down my face.

I pushed against his chest. "You beast!"

"Did I do something wrong? Do you not like it?"

I shook my head, sobbing. "E-Ever since I was little, I always wanted to have my own library and... and—" He hugged me before I could finish.

"I should have made one sooner for you." He chuckled. "You weren’t exactly open about your feelings in the past, and even now, you still hold out on me. Please don’t, having to hear from Diana about your missed birthday didn’t feel right."

"T-Thank you, thank you so much," I cried.

He pulled away from me, using his thumb to wipe my tears. "You’re welcome. I want to give you nothing but happiness, Eloise. We’re going to spend the rest of our lives together, and I hope I can make it the best moments, every day, every night, week, month, and the years to come."

No words could ever measure his, so I said the only thing that mattered most to him and me. "I love you."

"I love you too."

He leaned down, our lips almost connecting when a knock distracted us.

"Your Majesty," Talia said from the other side of the door.

"The Dowager summons you."

"What?" I uttered, confused. "How come?"

"I wonder too..." Drevon said. "Can you handle it? If you can’t, don’t go."

I didn’t want to go. I didn’t want to see that woman again, but I’m curious as to why she suddenly decided to see me after my outburst, and more importantly, I might have a chance.

I don’t want to be an incompetent queen. I wanted to be worthy and rule by Drevon’s side, and to do that, I needed to know the ins and outs like the Dowager.

I smirked. "Mother calls, and I shall answer."
