CHAPTER 88: THE INVITE

• ELOISE •

The wildness in Drevon’s eyes got me mentally slapping myself for ranting like an idiot. It wasn’t my fault that the first thing I thought about after waking up naked in his arms was surviving.

I’ve dreaded what sexual activities would be like with him. I’m still struck that this beast cherishes me so. Certainly, I never meant to doubt his...vigor. My cunt could still feel it!

But it seems I might have bruised his ego. And his declaration shouldn’t get me hot and bothered, nor eager to have him prove his words. I have read many books about coupling. Apart from learning about Lycan’s sexual activities, I admit that I have always been curious about things like this.

"Which do you need?" he murmured against my lips. "Tell me your wish."

My entire body went rigid when Drevon palmed my core. I-Is he going to fuck me again? Oh no! I don’t think I am ready!

"I’m—" I couldn’t finish because he lay me back down on the bed and hovered above.

"You said it hurts, let me make it feel better," he said innocently, a grin plastered on his lips.

I thought he would penetrate me with his finger, but all he did was massage me, focusing on the area that ached.

I exhaled in ease as a feeling bussed my body. I went numb as Drevon continued his delicate massage. This should be an innocent gesture, but I became far too stimulated with every friction. He was thoughtful with his strokes and made me feel like I had made my way to the heavens.

"Does it feel good?" he asked in my ear, his deep voice causing chills to my body.

There’s no way I’ll admit that. If only he could just continue.

He chuckled softly as if he knew what I had in mind. "I’ll make it better so that I can ruin it all over again, sweetly so."

I sank my teeth into my bottom lip.

"I can’t wait," he voiced with a dark promise in his eyes. "When the moment comes, you can detail my performances all you want. Keep a diary if you must, a big one."

Sweet gods! I shut my knee, trapping his hand.

"Naughty girl," he purred sweetly, like honey rolled out and licked my skin on fire.

There was a mesmerizing twinkle to his eyes as he muttered lowly. "How am I supposed to message my cunt if you keep my hand trapped?"

H-His cunt?!

"Y-You’re doing this on purpose."

"Doing what?"

"Making me—" I couldn’t finish as his massage resumed despite my knees being closed, and it was far more stimulating.

A thick moan released from me, my fingers digging into his biceps, as I struggled to handle the mix of pleasant sensations between caress and pleasure.

"Better?" he asked, purposefully picking up the pace with his strokes.

"Mmh..."

A knock came at the door. "My liege. Your Grace. Forgive me for the intrusion, but I bring something of importance."

It was Garrick.

"Don’t make a sound," Drevon murmured to my ear, his strokes far from stopping.

"Didn’t I tell you I am not to be disturbed?" he called out to the door.

I turned my head the other way and bit down on the pillow when I found myself nearing a release.

"An invitation was sent, and I have come to give it to you."

I shudder when I hit a peak. Drevon stroked me further until my body slumped.

"Good girl," he praised as he brought his coated fingers to his lips and popped one each into his mouth, giving a clean lick.

Merciful gods!

Winking, he climbed off the bed, walking butt naked to the door while I just gaped wide-eyed.

A card was slid from under, and Drevon took it. When he turned back to me, reading the contents, I almost choked.

How did that thing fit?! That question echoed loudly. I leveled my wide eyes at myself, then back at me, but the points weren’t pointing!

"A ball," Drevon mumbled, and I peeled my eyes away from the wood.

"B-Ball?"

"To welcome my brother back into society. The Debutant Ball."

My heart skipped a beat at the mention of Damon. I clung to the covers as I sat up.

"Out in society?"

Drevon dropped the card on the table and walked back to bed, sitting beside me. "He never was before."

A wistful look took over his gaze, but the strangest thing happened. At that split second of recount, there was not an ounce of emotion. Drevon has always been filled with them; he was the most emotive person I have ever met, yet seeing that flicker of blankness was unsettling.

Then he smiled as if on cue. "My brother is a troubled person. He lacks something an Alpha shouldn’t—"

"Control," I answered. "I know. I asked Osha to tell me about your siblings."

"A curious thing you are. The mistake lies with me for not telling you about them myself."

"It’s okay..." I said. "What does this ball mean? Garrick made it sound urgent."

"It means the noble houses both far and near will be present as my brother makes his debut," he said in a shifty tone. "His coming forth means he has resumed his status as the Royal Prince."

"You don’t sound happy about it."

Drevon ran a hand through his hair. "My brother never cared about society, status, or what they thought of him. His only interest is me."

"You?"

"He’s addicted to getting on my bad side." He ended it there, even though it felt as if there was more to it. "But this feels different. I think my little brother is up to something."

I gulped. I thought Drevon would be worried, but he looked far too amused, almost like his brother’s actions thrilled him.

"The ball is tomorrow night." He rose to his feet. "I’ll leave Lucan and Garrick to protect you."

"I-I’m not attending?"

"I don’t want to put you in a situation that will make you uncomfortable or at the teeth of my people."

I don’t want that either, but it didn’t feel right that he was attending such an important occasion alone.

"I’m your wife."

His eyes shimmered. "Yes, you’re."

"I should attend. I’ll attend."

"No."

I froze at his reply. I found myself thinking it was a joke, but a second look in his eyes told me otherwise.
