CHAPTER 458: SHE’S LUNA, AFTER ALL

Jacob didn’t hide anything. "Miss Clark, there’s already a ’Selina’ out there. She’s living her life as usual. Everyone around you thinks she’s you. Since you’re still in front of Logan’s eyes, why would he bother looking for you?"

Selina understood immediately. "You put someone who looks like me by Logan’s side?"

Jacob shook his head. "Not just looks like you, Miss Clark. She looks exactly like you."

"Not only in appearance—her voice, her height, even her mannerisms. She’s studied and practiced your behavior. I can guarantee, even Luke wouldn’t be able to tell you two apart."

Selina’s heart skipped a beat. There was something deeply unsettling in Jacob’s calm tone.

In this world, only identical twins could truly look "exactly alike." But voice and height too? And fooling even Luke? That’s beyond close—it’s frightening.

"Even if she looks exactly the same, Logan will know. So will my second brother. They’ll know it’s not me."

Jacob smiled. "Logan probably will. So might the Foster heir. But what good would it do? Miss Clark, everyone else will believe she’s you. And Logan—he has no proof there’s another you out there."

"When he points to his ’wife’ and says, ’This isn’t Selina,’ do you really think anyone will believe him?"

No. They wouldn’t. People would think Logan had lost his mind—or that he was making up excuses for a divorce.

Selina’s voice turned cold. "You can’t keep me locked up forever. The moment I show my face, I can expose the imposter."

Jacob chuckled. "I don’t need to keep you here forever. Honestly, once that woman completely replaces you, it won’t matter whether I keep you locked up or not."

Selina scoffed. "Completely replace me?"

"Miss Clark, don’t be so sure it’s impossible."

Jacob’s tone was light, almost cheerful. "With Joe acknowledging her as his daughter, and with the company accepting her—everyone will believe that she’s the real Selina. When you return..."

He didn’t finish the sentence, but Selina did in her head.

—When you return, you’ll be the fake one.

The thought turned her stomach.

How could Jacob speak so casually about having another person hijack her entire life?

And she didn’t even have a sister—how could that woman look exactly like her?

"You don’t need to worry about that part."

Jacob smiled again.

"All you need to know is—her existence is actually good for you."

Selina couldn’t hold back a cold laugh. "Good for me? In what way? Taking over my identity? Stealing my life?"

Jacob shook his head. "Miss Clark, Joe wants an obedient daughter. I know you don’t like him. You don’t want to be his daughter. So isn’t this the perfect outcome?"

"You can walk away from being the Morris Family’s heiress. Let the fake play happy family with Joe. From now on, everything about the Morris Family has nothing to do with you."

"That annoying Joe, Grandma Morris, useless Kyle, fake Hannah—they’re all out of your life. Isn’t that better?"

Selina narrowed her eyes, deeply confused.

"Old Mr. Carter said you were sent abroad for elite education from a young age. I don’t know what you studied, but if you think letting someone completely erase me from my own life is good for me, then—"

"No wonder. No one who comes out of the Carter Family is normal."

Jacob knew Selina was mocking him, but he didn’t get upset. He simply continued explaining.

"Besides that, staying by Logan’s side is too dangerous."

His voice was earnest.

"It’s not safe around Logan. Amelia wants him dead. Riley wants to marry him. The Nelson Family will do whatever they can to eliminate obstacles for Riley—and you are Riley’s biggest obstacle."

"Whether it’s Amelia or the Nelsons, if you let your guard down for even a second, you’ll be in danger. But here, it’s different. I’ll protect you."

Selina pressed her lips together tightly.

She used to have a fairly decent impression of Jacob.

But ever since learning that Logan was adopted by the Carter Family just to serve as a living blood bank for Jacob, she felt a strange aversion to him.

How could anyone accept that so calmly?

That someone else was expected to sacrifice everything—an entire lifetime—for you?

Something so horrifying and twisted, the Carter Family treated as normal.

They were used to others sacrificing for them, whether it was life, blood, or loyalty. Ryan was like that. Old Mr. Carter too. So how could Jacob be any different?

"Miss Clark, Logan’s hands are tied. If he insists on exposing the truth, with both the Morris and Carter Families spinning the narrative, he’ll be painted as the ’heartless husband.’"

Jacob set the breakfast down.

"Miss Clark, you can’t skip meals. Don’t worry—it’s just regular food. Nothing added."

With that, he turned and left.

Selina thought for a moment. If she was going to find a way to escape, she couldn’t do it on an empty stomach.

She checked the food carefully. It seemed normal.

She finished it all.

At noon, Jacob brought her another meal. Selina asked calmly, "So when you say you’ll ’keep me here for a while,’ how long exactly?"

Jacob smiled gently. "A month."

"And for this entire month, I’m just supposed to have zero contact with anyone? No socializing? No internet? You’re locking me in a room?"

Jacob looked surprised. "Of course not. You’re free to go anywhere in the villa. There are computers, phones, tablets—all brand new, all prepared for you. You can use them. You can go online."

Selina raised an eyebrow. "I can go online?"

If she could go online, she could contact the outside world. Was Jacob really that confident?

Jacob grinned. "If Miss Clark is planning to message Logan, don’t bother. The internet here is a private internal network I had custom built. Any messages you send out—they come to me first."

Selina’s smile vanished. "You’re insane."

So she could go online—but Jacob would be monitoring every keystroke, every click, every word. Total surveillance.

"And even if you manage to reach Logan," Jacob added confidently, "he won’t be able to trace the location."

He looked completely assured. After saying that, he opened the door to her room.

Sure enough, there was no one else in the villa. She could access every room.

After Jacob left, Selina sat on the couch in deep thought.

...How could she contact the outside world—Logan especially—without Jacob finding out?

Suddenly, she felt something in her pocket.

A tiny object.

A micro USB drive!

She’d carried it for five years, always attached as a charm to her phone. Just before she passed out, she must’ve grabbed it and shoved it into her pocket—

And inside that USB drive...

was the Reid Group’s system.
