Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'
Chapter 466: Did He Recognize Her?
CHAPTER 466: DID HE RECOGNIZE HER?
At that moment, it felt like everything around them faded into the background—Logan became the center of the world.
As he walked through the room, everything else seemed to blur under a soft filter. In Selina’s eyes, the only thing that existed was him.
She hadn’t seen him for days. Her lips tensed, and her fists clenched reflexively.
Would he... recognize her?
The entire room fell silent.
There had been a conflict between Mrs. Reid and the Carter Family’s young lady, and before the Carters themselves could respond, Mr. Reid had arrived.
"Logan, you’re just in time! That woman was bullying me!"
The imposter ran up to him like a wounded kitten, trying to cling to his arm with a pouty face and thinly veiled glee. "It was her! Logan, help me teach her a lesson, won’t you?"
It was then that Logan looked up.
He followed the imposter’s gaze and saw someone standing across the room.
All the other noise in the hall seemed to vanish in that instant. Logan had imagined what it would be like to see Selina again—but never like this.
She was right there, standing just a few feet away, with Carter Family bodyguards behind her.
At his side, a fake was pretending to be her, and people around them were all demanding he defend the imposter.
She had a different face now, a different name.
Even though she was right in front of him, no one recognized her.
And worst of all, he couldn’t expose the imposter—not yet.
Logan’s gaze flickered, just slightly.
The imposter pouted. "Logan, why aren’t you saying anything? She ruined my dress! Ask anyone!"
People nearby exchanged glances and quickly chimed in, "Yes, Mr. Reid, that Carter girl bumped into Mrs. Reid just now."
The imposter bit her lip, acting aggrieved. "I asked her to apologize, but she questioned me—said this dress wasn’t from you! But you did buy it for me, didn’t you?"
The onlookers all turned slightly reproachful eyes toward Selina.
How dare a so-called outsider question what Mr. Reid gave his wife?
Logan looked up again, his eyes locking onto hers.
His stare was unreadable, almost calm—as if she were just another stranger in the room.
Selina’s heart seized.
It felt like a block of ice dropped into her chest, sending frozen splinters through her veins.
He didn’t recognize her?
A painful twist gripped her from the inside.
For a second, she finally understood why Jacob had sounded so confident.
With a completely different face and identity—even if Logan knew there was an imposter—how could he dare claim this new "Sophia" was really Selina?
How could anyone?
Selina’s eyes stung. For a brief moment, she wanted to turn and walk away.
"Selina, what’s going on?" a voice called out just then.
Joe, having heard the commotion, rushed over. He immediately fussed over the imposter, concern etched into his face.
"Sweetheart, Daddy heard you were being bullied—who did this to you? Tell me, Daddy will take care of it!"
The imposter’s eyes welled with tears. She pointed at Selina and huffed dramatically, "Daddy, it was her! She spilled wine on my dress and refused to apologize. Even Logan took her side!"
Joe’s expression darkened. "Mr. Reid, you always say how much you love my daughter. Now she’s being mistreated and you stand there doing nothing?"
Someone nearby whispered, "Chairman Morris, that’s a Carter Family heiress. She’s here with their heir..."
Joe waved them off, playing the devoted father. "I don’t care who she is! Even if Jacob gives me hell for this later, I’ll deal with it—but right now, I’m standing up for my daughter!"
The imposter beamed, basking in the illusion of power. "Thank you, Daddy."
Others nearby quickly flattered him, "Chairman Morris, your relationship with Miss Selina is really admirable."
Joe felt a surge of satisfaction. Yes, he didn’t quite understand it either—just days ago, Selina had been so resistant to the Morris Family. But suddenly yesterday, she had accepted him.
The more he thought about it, the more comforted he felt. Maybe Selina had finally grown up and come around.
"She’s a thoughtful child," Joe said with emotion. "I’m actually planning to have her change her last name."
"Well, congratulations, Chairman Morris. Congratulations to Miss Morris, too!"
Joe frowned. "But this isn’t the time for that. Miss, I don’t care if this is a Carter Family event—my daughter from the Morris Family isn’t someone who can just be pushed around. Miss Carter, apologize to my daughter, or I won’t hesitate to cause a scene with Old Mr. Carter himself!"
Selina shifted her gaze, landing it coldly on Joe.
She frowned slightly. This idiot’s really my biological father?
Jacob was right about one thing—giving this annoying man to the imposter as her fake father was probably the smartest move of all.
The imposter looked smug but feigned concern. "Dad, won’t this cause trouble for you?"
Joe felt a wave of warmth—his daughter had finally called him dad. She even asked for his help. Without hesitation, he puffed up, "Don’t worry, Selina. I can handle a little trouble."
The imposter stole another glance at Selina.
Selina instantly understood—
This imposter knew who she was.
She clearly knew that the woman standing here as "Sophia" was the real Selina.
Yet she dared to steal her identity—and now flaunted it right in front of her.
"Logan," Joe said again, turning to find Logan still silent. His tone turned annoyed. "Why aren’t you saying anything? Selina loves you so much—how can you stay quiet at a moment like this?"
The imposter stiffened, biting her lip, and suddenly added, "Logan... are you protecting Miss Carter?"
Everyone froze, confused by what Mrs. Reid had just said.
Then the imposter continued, feigning disappointment, "I know... many people think I’m not good enough for you. The Carter Family is close to you, and I’ve heard Old Mr. Carter once planned to marry Miss Carter to you. If that’s why you’re siding with her now... then I won’t say another word."
Then she turned to Joe, putting on a noble act, her smile clearly forced. "Dad, let it go. I don’t want to make things difficult for Logan."
Could anyone still not understand what she was really saying?
That Mr. Reid had been raised by the Carter Family wasn’t widely known, but it wasn’t a secret either.
And now this "Sophia" girl was being introduced as a Carter Family heiress.
Was it possible she had once been close to Mr. Reid? Could there have been some past romance?
But even if that were true, it didn’t excuse Mr. Reid for standing by while his wife was being humiliated.
Even if Carter Miss had once been a potential match, Mr. Reid was now married.
For her to show up now and deliberately target his wife—what was she trying to prove?
Joe was furious. "So it is true?! Logan, you swore to love and protect Selina forever. And now, just because some woman shows up, you’re already breaking your promise?!"
He then turned to Selina with scorn and contempt, eyeing her up and down. "Miss Carter, as long as I’m here, I won’t let you get what you want. Be smart about this—my daughter is married to Mr. Reid. If you have any self-respect left, don’t stoop to being the kind of homewrecker everyone despises."
The people around Selina began to look at her with suspicion and disdain.
Ah... another woman throwing herself at Mr. Reid, trying to steal someone’s husband.
Poor Mrs. Reid. Maybe she didn’t have much status before, but now that she was a Morris, at least she had a proper background. What right did this "Sophia" have to look down on her?
Someone sighed. "Mr. Reid, you should say something. Maybe if you publicly turn down Miss Carter, she’ll stop bothering you."
"Yeah, I feel bad for Mrs. Reid."
Joe added coldly, "Logan, this is your mess—clean it up."
The imposter lowered her head, eyes misty. "Logan..."
Logan looked at her.
His gaze was so light, so careful, it was as if even blinking too hard might scare her away.
Selina could hear her own heartbeat pounding, faster and faster.
What would Logan do now...?
