Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'
Chapter 473: Where Were You Last Night?
CHAPTER 473: WHERE WERE YOU LAST NIGHT?
Jacob’s Call.
Selina had meant to hang up, but her finger accidentally hit the answer button. Before she could react, Jacob’s voice came through the phone.
"Selina, why aren’t you in your room?"
His tone was laced with mockery—or maybe amusement. It was as if he already knew exactly where she was. He chuckled lowly, "Let me guess... You’re in bed with your ’uncle’ right now, aren’t you?"
Selina’s eyes narrowed. "What are you trying to do?"
"Don’t blame me," Jacob said with a shrug in his voice, cold and casual. "I have a keycard to your room. I just wanted to invite you to breakfast. But surprise, surprise... no Selina inside. Oh, and—"
His voice turned sharper with implication. "Last night, quite a few of us saw ’Mrs. Reid’ arguing with Logan. I kindly arranged a new guest room for her. She’s awake now, and she’s looking for me to thank me."
"Tell me, Selina... what do you think ’Mrs. Reid’ would do if she doesn’t find you in your room but finds you in Logan’s bed instead?"
Selina almost laughed from pure fury.
Was this man seriously laying out his malicious intentions like it was nothing?
She opened her mouth to respond—but a warm, firm hand reached over and took her phone.
"Jacob," Logan’s deep, indifferent voice cut in through the receiver.
Jacob’s face dropped immediately.
"You can try," Logan said calmly—and hung up without waiting for a reply.
"I’ll take you back," he said to Selina.
Selina frowned. "But Jacob said he’s in my room..."
"He’s not," Logan said with a dry laugh. "He’s bluffing."
Jacob was trying to bait her—and she had almost fallen for it.
Selina’s expression twisted. "You mean... he did it on purpose?!"
So Jacob never even went to her room. He just guessed she had gone to find Logan—and used a phone call to mess with her?
Logan nodded. "He saw the fake last night. He probably figured you’d come to me."
Selina frowned. "But what does he want?"
If Jacob wanted Logan’s reputation ruined, he had plenty of chances last night. Instead, he made a phone call?
And...
She couldn’t figure out where Jacob’s hostility toward Logan came from. By all logic, it made no sense.
One was a Carter, the other from the Reid Family—completely unrelated. And even if you went by the past, Logan had only ever been a blood source for the Carters. If anything, the Carter Family owed him.
So why would Jacob target him like this?
Unable to untangle it, Selina returned to her room. As expected, the door hadn’t been touched. Jacob had never come.
No one was around, so she gave up on appearances and leaned against the doorframe, slowly squatting down to ease the burning ache in her legs and back.
She bit her lip. Logan had really gone all in last night...
"Mrs. Reid!"
A sudden voice called out from behind the door.
Selina froze.
Was someone calling her?
Her hand paused mid-motion, unsure whether to respond—
"Mrs. Taylor, I’m fine. Don’t worry," a voice answered.
"Oh, Mrs. Reid, don’t cry. What happened? I heard you and Mr. Reid had a fight. But I heard he’s awake now! Let me take you to him."
The dialogue snapped Selina back to full awareness.
Her expression darkened.
...What was that imposter up to now?
If she was going to impersonate her, couldn’t she at least do it well?
Would she ever cry in the hallway after a fight with Logan?
But then again, that tearful act had already drawn a crowd.
Everyone had already noticed that something seemed off between Mr. Reid and "Mrs. Reid" last night. So when they heard the couple had a fight, whether out of genuine concern or a desire to curry favor, everyone offered to accompany the fake Mrs. Reid to find Logan.
"Good thing Mr. Carter ran into you last night and arranged a room for you. Otherwise... sigh, arguments are one thing, but how could Mr. Reid kick his wife out?"
"Mrs. Reid, go find him now. After a night apart, I’m sure Mr. Reid’s heart has softened."
Only then did the fake stop crying, sniffling pitifully. "Then I’ll trouble you ladies to come with me."
Selina stood behind the door, frowning slightly.
Suddenly, Jacob’s earlier words echoed in her mind—What do you think ’Mrs. Reid’ would do if she finds you next to Logan?
In an instant, Selina understood everything. Her eyes lit up.
So that’s why the fake was creating a morning drama—she came to catch them "in the act"!
Just picture it: "Mrs. Reid" bursts into tears early in the morning, telling everyone she was kicked out after a fight with her husband. Then, when she goes to find him, she discovers another woman in Logan’s bed.
At that point, no matter what Sophia’s supposed identity is, it’ll be completely destroyed.
Selina let out a cold laugh, stepped into the bathroom for a quick shower, tossed back a full glass of coffee, then applied flawless makeup.
Once she was refreshed and composed, she opened the door.
The ladies had already gone downstairs. The hallway was empty. Selina waited a moment, then headed to the elevator.
...
Elsewhere—
Mrs. Taylor knocked on Logan’s door, turning back to comfort the fake, "Mrs. Reid, don’t cry. Once Mr. Reid comes out, we’ll have a good talk with him. How could he leave you alone like that?"
The fake lowered her gaze, acting all soft and pitiful. "Logan hasn’t been himself lately... Especially after he saw Miss Sophia yesterday, he’s just been—"
She trailed off.
Several of the society ladies exchanged looks, quietly drawing their own conclusions.
—Could it be... Logan has feelings for Sophia?
But Sophia is his so-called niece! Even without blood ties, would the Carter Family really approve of that? It’s too scandalous!
Not to mention, Mr. Reid is already married.
Everyone knew Mr. Reid and Mrs. Reid had always been deeply in love. Even with the past drama involving Bella and Angelica, Mr. Reid had never wronged his wife—and Mrs. Reid had always believed in him without question.
Their relationship had seemed unshakable.
But now... Mrs. Reid was doubting Logan’s relationship with Sophia? Was Sophia really that cunning? Or was there something more?
The fake lowered her eyes. "I’m not asking for Logan to make up with me... I just hope he—"
Click.
The door opened before she could finish her sentence.
Logan had clearly been aware of the people outside. His gaze slowly landed on the fake, layered with unreadable emotion.
Then, ever so gradually, he smiled.
In a soft, almost tender voice, he asked, "Selina, where were you last night?"
Everyone froze.
What did Mr. Reid just say?
He’s asking Mrs. Reid where she went last night?
Didn’t they have a fight? Didn’t he kick her out?
