Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'
Chapter 501: Old Acquaintances
CHAPTER 501: OLD ACQUAINTANCES
They had no idea Selina was the new owner of Celestial Feast, yet they wanted her to delete the surveillance footage—while still talking behind her back?
Delete the footage? As if things in this world came that easy.
Just then, more voices floated out from the private room.
"Don’t worry, Class Rep. Miss Morris promised to make the introduction. That must mean she’s close to the owner of Celestial Feast."
"Right. If nothing else, the owner will do it as a favor to Miss Morris."
"Exactly! Which is why we should butter her up. But why did Miss Morris insist on bringing Selina?"
"Haven’t you heard the rumors? Miss Morris still considers Selina her sister and wants her back in the Morris Family. If you ask me, what’s the point? She’d just betray them again."
"She still has to come back, doesn’t she? Otherwise, Victoria’s entire inheritance would go to Selina. Why shouldn’t Miss Morris get half too?"
"Selina’s always been ungrateful. Poor Miss Morris, she’s bound to be wronged. You know what they say—Selina’s cursed. She brings bad luck to her parents. That’s why Victoria died."
"And Chairman Morris has been going downhill ever since he got that paternity test with her. Everything’s been falling apart. You think that’s just coincidence? Please."
"I knew it! Nothing good ever comes from being around her. Everyone who gets close ends up ruined. I’m telling you—"
A cold laugh cut through the chatter. The door swung open.
Selina stepped inside, smiling faintly. "Go on. What were you about to say?"
The room fell dead silent.
The class rep’s expression shifted rapidly. He had no idea how long Selina had been standing outside or how much she’d heard. He was terrified she’d leave right away and ruin Miss Morris’s setup. Forcing a smile, he tried to play it cool.
"Selina, hey—you’re here! When did you get in?"
"Just now," Selina replied calmly. "And the first thing I heard was you saying I’m bad news. I’d really love to know what makes you say that. Care to explain? If I’ve really done something wrong, maybe I should fix it."
The rep’s face turned blue. "No, I didn’t mean it like that..."
"Didn’t you?" Selina’s tone didn’t change. Her smile stayed polite. "Then what did you mean?"
Under normal circumstances, he would’ve snapped back. But now that he needed her to impress Miss Morris, he bit his tongue and signaled one of his lackeys.
One of them picked up the cue, rolled his eyes, and threw it back at her.
"Selina, we’ve been waiting for you forever, and now you come in here trying to pick a fight?"
"Seriously. We’ve all been here on time, just waiting on you. And you have the nerve to act all high and mighty?"
"The class rep was just trying to look out for you, saying you were too aloof. Why the attitude?"
Selina slowly raised her eyes and checked the time. "I’m late?"
The lackey huffed, "Of course—"
"You can read, right?" Selina lifted her phone and tapped the screen. The glowing numbers showed 4:00 PM exactly.
The guy choked. Trying to save face, he snapped, "Even if you’re technically on time, the class rep invited you. You should’ve shown up early. Who arrives exactly on time?"
Selina nodded thoughtfully—then turned on her heel. "Good point. I didn’t want to come anyway. Guess I’ll be going now."
"Selina!" the class rep panicked. The mask dropped. If she left now, he’d have no way to curry favor with Miss Morris.
He rushed to smooth things over. "C’mon, Selina, don’t take it so seriously. We were just joking around. You’re right on time. It’s been so long since we’ve all hung out. Come on, take a look at the menu."
Selina took the menu and asked casually, "Celestial Feast requires reservations, right? Did you book ahead, Class Rep?"
At that, a smug look finally crept across the Class Rep’s face.
One of his cronies jumped in proudly, "Normal people need reservations—but not him."
Selina raised her brows, feigning curiosity. "Oh?"
The Class Rep gave a smug little laugh, unable to resist showing off. "I have someone important to thank for that."
Selina picked two dishes and responded with a faint smile, "Someone important?"
He gave her a knowing look. "Actually, Selina, you’re connected to this person too. She was the one who asked me to invite you."
Then he let out a sigh like he was the reasonable one, acting as if Selina was being difficult. "Selina, I’m sure you’ve already guessed—it’s Miss Angela. I know you two... haven’t had the smoothest relationship, but at the end of the day, you’re still sisters. You should really learn to let some things go. It’s not fair to keep putting Miss Morris in a position where she has to apologize over and over."
"Sure, Miss Morris made a few mistakes. But she’s kindhearted. She just wants to fix things with you. Are you really going to ignore your bond as sisters?"
Selina couldn’t help but laugh. Sisters? The woman who impersonated her and tried to steal her entire life was now appealing to sisterhood?
She tilted her head. "The funny thing is, even a month ago, I had no idea this so-called sister existed. How are you all acting like we go way back?"
Before the Class Rep could reply, his lackey piped up, "He’s known Miss Morris since high school! Back then—"
The Class Rep quickly cut him off, "Selina, don’t worry about my history with Miss Morris. That’s not important. What matters is your relationship with her. You didn’t even show up to the Morris Family’s reunion banquet—people are talking. But you don’t need to worry. Miss Morris has been defending you to the family."
"And listen—she’s going to introduce me to the owner of Celestial Feast today. If you’re free, why not stay a bit? Might be good to make a connection. Could come in handy."
Selina smiled coolly. "Sure. It would be rude to decline."
The crony didn’t look pleased. He clearly had something to say, but the Class Rep’s warning glance shut him up. He muttered under his breath, "As if she has any shame... leeching off Miss Morris’ connections..."
Just then, a voice—nearly identical to Selina’s—rang out from the doorway.
"Mr. Robinson, I’m not late, am I?"
Angela stepped into the room, her lips curved in a deliberately sweet smile. When she spotted Selina, she blinked innocently. "Oh—sister, you’re here too?"
Selina’s eyes narrowed slightly. Seeing her own face on Angela’s... it was genuinely disturbing.
The Class Rep immediately rushed over to greet her. "Not late at all, Miss Morris! Please, have a seat."
But Angela didn’t sit. She looked at Selina and bit her lip softly. "Sister, I didn’t expect you to actually come. Don’t be mad at Mr. Robinson—this was my idea. I just wanted a chance to apologize, and he helped organize it."
"I know I should’ve told you, but I—"
"Miss Morris," Selina cut in with a faint smile, "You seem pretty close with the Class Rep. Funny, I’ve lost touch with all my high school classmates, yet you’ve managed to keep in touch with them all this time."
