CHAPTER 515: BIOLOGICAL SISTER

Finn was stuck—speaking up was risky, but staying quiet was just as bad. He’d been trying to get on Logan’s good side, to edge Hunter out and take his place as Logan’s friend. But now, the topic he’d brought up was brushed aside with barely a glance, and his throat tightened with frustration.

Then Riley spoke up with a smile. "Cousin, you’re underestimating Logan. Owen’s just an adopted son. Sure, he grew up in the Reid Family, got their education, and the whole clan sees him as the heir—but compared to Logan? He’s nothing."

Finn’s eyes lit up. "Exactly, just an adopted son! If you ask me, that kid needs to be taught a lesson. All adopted sons are the same—they fight the real kids for power without checking if they’re even cut out for it."

Logan’s gaze darkened.

A slow, almost amused smile tugged at his lips. "Oh? Is that what the Nelson Family thinks?"

Only then did Finn realize he’d said his real thoughts out loud. His whole body went stiff, and he scrambled to cover it up—when Jack stepped forward.

"Mr. Nelson, Miss Nelson, sir has another meeting to get to."

The dismissal couldn’t have been clearer. Riley clenched her jaw, grabbed Finn’s arm, and forced a polite smile. "We were just passing by. Since that’s the case, we won’t take up your time."

"Logan... my cousin only meant to stand up for you. Don’t take it the wrong way."

Finn jumped in. "Right, right, I wasn’t implying anything about Hunter—"

Riley yanked him toward the door before he could say more.

Logan set his cup down with a soft clink. "I have to wonder... is the Nelson Family genuinely stupid, or just pretending?"

Jack paused before answering truthfully. "Sir, from what I’ve seen... genuinely stupid."

Logan gave a cold laugh. Comparing Owen to Hunter, trying to poison him against Hunter in such a childish way—how did they come up with something so idiotic?

"Did Jaxon find anything on Hunter and Selina?" Logan asked suddenly.

Jack shook his head. "Nothing yet."

Logan’s eyes narrowed.

Some things felt far too coincidental. He was certain Selina wasn’t Joe’s daughter—so who was her father? Selina had once said she played at CY Club as a child, and later, Hunter inherited CY Club. The Nelsons were convinced that SL Group’s chairman was Hunter, that it was his birth father’s legacy to him.

But in truth, SL Group had nothing to do with Hunter. It had always belonged to Selina.

The coincidence was too much to ignore.

One thought surged into his mind—if both Hunter and Selina had unknown fathers, and both inherited overlapping assets... could they share the same father?

Hunter wanted to repay the Nelsons, but Logan saw it clearly: the couple’s so-called "care" for Hunter was rooted in the fortune his birth parents had left him.

And Selina... she, too, held a fortune that could rival nations.

Was it really just chance?

"Sir, it’s raining," Jack said suddenly. "The Turner Group meeting just wrapped up as well."

Logan pushed his thoughts aside and stood. "I’ll go pick her up."

...

Outside the café, Riley frowned. "Cousin, why did you say all that? Now’s not the time to fall out with my brother."

Most of the Nelson assets were still in Hunter’s hands—and they hadn’t yet gotten his father’s inheritance.

Finn scoffed. "So what if I said it? Hunter wouldn’t dare talk back."

He knew Hunter’s personality well enough—no matter how much he disliked the rest of the Nelsons, for Riley’s sake and for the couple’s "kindness" in raising him, Hunter would work for them like a mule for life.

Controlling him would be child’s play.

"I’m only thinking of what’s best for the Nelson family. What if Hunter gets any ideas about stealing your inheritance?"

Riley shook her head. "He won’t. Right now, the priority is figuring out how to actually get the inheritance in hand."

Finn scoffed. "Even if he doesn’t give it up now, do you really think he can keep it hidden forever? Hunter’s the type you can read in an instant."

Riley knew that the Nelson family used their so-called debt of gratitude to keep Hunter in check—and that her own role as his ’sister’ was part of the plan. There was no way Hunter would abandon the Nelsons. In fact, if the family ever ran into trouble and the cash flow dried up, he’d probably dip into the inheritance his biological father had left behind.

But what if... just what if—

"What if Hunter finds his real sister?"

Finn’s eyes widened. "Hunter’s real sister? Damn, he has a real sister? Who?!"

Riley lowered her voice. "Selina."

Finn was silent for a moment, then swayed slightly.

"But... isn’t Selina Joe’s daughter? Hunter... has nothing to do with Joe."

...

Selina stepped out of the Turner Group building and found it was raining. She hadn’t brought an umbrella and was about to turn back to find shelter.

But when she looked over her shoulder, she saw Grandma Morris, Hannah, and Angela huddled together for warmth.

"Tch," Selina muttered. Just then, Anthony approached. "Selina, no umbrella?"

"Uncle Anthony."

He nodded. "My brother and sister-in-law are tied up in meetings, so they couldn’t come see you off. They asked me to check in instead. Well? Happy with today’s performance?"

Selina was, of course, satisfied. "I’ll be counting on you to keep up the good work, Uncle Anthony."

Anthony frowned. "All this trouble just to expose Hannah for plagiarism? From where I’m standing, Hannah came out of this the least affected."

It was true—while Hannah had stolen someone else’s work, to outsiders it all looked like part of the Morris family’s schemes. Even if she really had plagiarized, people would think she’d been forced into it. Instead, she’d taken the fall, apologized, and knelt in public. In terms of reputation, the Morris name was in ruins, while Hannah herself barely drew any criticism.

This woman was sharp.

But Selina shook her head. "No, Uncle Anthony. My goal is to sever ties with the Morris family completely."

One of Anthony’s brows lifted.

"You already know the results of the paternity test between Joe and me. I don’t know what strings the Morris family pulled, but on paper, the test says we’re father and daughter. That means no matter what Joe does, it can all be spun as fatherly love."

"I don’t have evidence yet, so I’m going to use public opinion." Selina’s eyes glinted. "Once I’m no longer connected to the Morris family, certain things will be easier to set in motion."

Anthony nodded, but then asked, "And if someone asks why, if you’re no longer related, the Morris family insists on clinging to you, what will you say?"

"That’s easy," Selina replied with a sly smile. "I have a huge inheritance in my hands—how could they not be tempted?"

As she spoke, the glass doors swung open.

Anthony caught her meaning and didn’t press further. Seeing who had arrived, he inclined his head slightly. "Go on, Selina."

Selina turned—and met Logan’s eyes.
