Married For Now
Chapter 234: FUTURE CAREER
CHAPTER 234: FUTURE CAREER
"HYUNG, do you want to manage Ilsung Group’s luxury department stores and hotels?"
Sohee stopped sketching on his drawing tablet because of Kim Heedo’s ridiculous question.
When he raised his head, he saw his husband seriously working on his laptop.
Today was the day both of them didn’t have any classes.
But instead of going out on a date, they decided to just stay at home since both of them had assignments for their major classes.
Plus, it was fun playing with their babies all day.
Hence, after Kim Woochul and Kim Woosung fell asleep, Sohee and Kim Heedo went straight to the study.
This is like a library date~
"Why would I manage your company’s luxury department stores and hotels?" Sohee asked, confused. "I know how to work in retail, but managing a huge business is another story. Do you want your company to go bankrupt?"
Kim Heedo lifted his head, smiling. "Hyung, you should learn how to be greedy."
"I think I’m already greedy in a sense that you’re already mine, and yet I can’t get enough of you."
"Ah, Hyung," Kim Heedo whined playfully, clutching his chest while acting like he had a mini heart attack. "Please don’t seduce me when I haven’t finished writing my report yet."
"Don’t be dramatic," Sohee said, rolling his eyes at his husband. "But why are you asking me if I want to manage your luxury department stores and hotels?"
"Appa is going to be Ilsung Group’s official new chairman early next year."
Sohee let out a gasp. "Really? Then does it mean Chairman Kim is officially stepping down from his position?"
"Yes, Grandfather is retiring soon. Once all the legal proceedings are over, my father will take over Grandfather’s position as the chairman."
Wow.
I still can’t believe that Ilsung Group’s next chairman is my father-in-law.
"Since Appa’s position as the next chairman is already secured, he’s already preparing a role for each of his children," Kim Heedo explained. "After I graduate, it’s almost certain that I’ll work in the financial sector of the company."
"Financial sector?"
"Yes. Ilsung Life Insurance, Ilsung Securities, Ilsung Bank, and Ilsung Asset Management are some of the affiliates under the financial sector of the company. Appa wants me to manage all of that once I gain enough experience."
"Are you interested in working there?"
"I’ve never really thought of choosing what affiliate to manage, so I’m fine with anything. Plus, I know I’ll become the chairman after Appa, so everything will be mine in the end anyway."
"Wow. How confident."
Kim Heedo just shrugged.
Aigoo.
"But will you be fine working in the financial sector? You’re gonna be a finance bro."
Kim Heedo chuckled at Sohee’s silly meme joke. "The companies in the financial sector are the real deal— that’s where the tremendous cash flow is. If I’m going to take the highest position in Ilsung Group someday, then I should work in the strongest sector first."
"I really don’t understand, but I fully support you," Sohee said, making a ’fighting’ gesture. "Yeobo, conquer Ilsung Group properly. Then serve it to our Woochul and Woosung on a gold platter."
He was aware that the idiom should say ’silver platter’ and not ’gold platter,’ but he preferred the latter.
"Yes, Hyung. I’ll work hard to make the company grow bigger for you and our twins~"
Hehe.
"How about Haewon and Hanhae?" Sohee asked curiously. "I know you and your siblings get along well. But are they really fine with you inheriting that much compared to what they’ll get? Maybe now that they’re adults, their competitive spirit has awakened and wants to challenge your position as the firstborn in the family."
Kim Heedo chuckled. "Hyung, you’re probably watching a new soap opera that features a chaebol family."
"Yeah. The siblings in that drama are killing off each other for the inheritance, even though their father is still alive."
"Don’t worry, Hyung. It won’t happen to us. Hanhae is going to take over Ilsung Electronics later. He’s interested in the mobile division. As you know, Hanhae is a creative person. He wants to be involved in creating the new generation of Ilsung phones in the future. Well, to be precise, he wants to be in the design team or something like that."
"That’s great. I’m sure Hanhae will be a great asset to the mobile division because of his creativity. As a fellow artist, I’m excited for Hanhae," Sohee said while clapping lightly. He was truly happy for his brother-in-law. "How about Haewon?"
"Ah, that’s why I asked you if you were interested in our luxury department stores and hotels, Hyung. It was actually Haewon who wanted to know."
"Huh? Why?"
"Appa is planning to hand over the luxury department stores, hotels, apartment buildings, and the golf ranges under Ilsung Distribution to Haewon," Kim Heedo answered. "But Haewon is wondering if you’re interested in any of those affiliates."
Aigoo.
"That’s so sweet of her, but please tell her not to worry about me," Sohee said, smiling while shaking his head. He was truly touched by his sister-in-law’s care. "I’m married to the future chairman of Ilsung Group, after all."
"Right?" Kim Heedo agreed with him. "But, Hyung, are you not interested in working for our affiliates? We also have non-profit organizations like schools and foundations. Of course, I’m not telling you to work, Hyung. You don’t have to do that. I’m just giving you options since you haven’t found what you wanted to do after graduating. Am I wrong?"
"No, you’re actually right. Thank you for giving me an option. I’ll keep that in mind."
Sohee was working again with Hong Sera and Cho Euntak for the second and final season of Gacha Girl— their hit webtoon.
I tried writing my own story, but it just ended up like a rip-off of my favorite series.
Hence, he gave up on creating his own story.
For now, at least.
"If Hyung is grateful, then give me a kiss."
"Hey, I thought you needed to finish writing your report first?"
"Let’s take a break first. Sitting for too long is bad for us, Hyung," Kim Heedo said cheekily while standing up. "So, let’s get you some exercise in the meantime~"
"Exercise, my foot," Sohee said, scoffing. But he also stood up when his husband did. "Let’s not make too much mess this time— it’s embarrassing whenever the helpers have to clean up the room after we’re done ’exercising.’"

"PRETTY HYUNG, your babies are pretty, too!"
Heh.
Sohee smiled smugly after Gunwoo, Lim Garam’s baby boy, praised Kim Woochul and Kim Woosung.
Heh.
Of course, my babies are the prettiest.
Right now, Sohee was having an afternoon tea with Lim Garam in the nursery room of his twins.
Gunwoo was playing with Kim Woochul and Kim Woosung in the playpen.
Of course, the nannies were there to keep an eye on the children.
"Thank you, Gunwoo-ya," Sohee said, and then he smiled at the twins who were looking at Sohee with huge eyes. "Woochul-ah, Woosung-ah, say thank you to Gunwoo Hyung."
It was Kim Woochul who first turned to Gunwoo and spoke. "Tenk you, Hyung-ah."
"T-Tenk you," Kim Woosung said, obviously copying Kim Woochul. "Hyung-ah."
Aww.
Sohee’s heart melted after hearing his twins talk adorably.
"Your twins’ language development is impressive, Sohee-ya," Lim Garam commented. "Gunwoo didn’t start talking until he was three years old."
Oh.
"Babies’ development differs from one another," Sohee said carefully. "And Gunwoo grew up well."
Lim Garam smiled and nodded. "My son loved the coloring book that you gifted to him for his birthday, Sohee-ya. He always brings it to school just to brag to his classmates."
Oh.
Sohee’s ears perked up.
Yes, he made a coloring book as a birthday gift for Gunwoo.
The coloring book was full of farm animals. And it was slightly different from other coloring books because the ten-page book that he made had a short story in it. So, it also served as a picture book.
"And it wasn’t just Gunwoo who loved it, Sohee-ya," Lim Garam said, smiling. "His classmates actually kept asking him where he bought his coloring book. As a result, some of the mothers sent me a message."
Sohee couldn’t help but smile after hearing that. "The kids loved the coloring-slash-picture book that I made, huh?"
He couldn’t create a full-length novel like Hong Sera.
But I really enjoyed writing a short children’s story, and I love drawing cute animals.
"Sohee-ya, why don’t you publish your coloring book?" Lim Garam suggested. "If you can’t find a publishing company that will accept your idea, then ask Kim Heedo to buy you one."
Pfft.
Garam Hyung talks like buying a publishing company is as easy as buying a candy... wait, never mind.
Kim Heedo could buy a publishing house without putting a dent in his bank account.
"I’ll think about it, Hyung," Sohee said because he really didn’t know what he wanted to do— not when he already had everything he wanted and needed. "Thank you for telling me that Gunwoo and his classmates loved my coloring book."
***
"GO FOR it, Hyung."
Heh.
Sohee smiled, already expecting that Kim Heedo would support whatever he wanted to do as long as it wasn’t harmful to him or their family.
So, when his husband came home, he didn’t hesitate to tell him about the conversation that he had with Lim Garam that afternoon. To be honest, that piqued his interest. That was why he shared the news with Kim Heedo immediately.
"I saw how happy you were when making that coloring book for Song Gunwoo, Hyung," Kim Heedo said, kneeling on the floor and putting his cheek on Sohee’s knee. Then he looked up at him with a silly smile on his handsome face. "It seems like you’ve found your calling, Hyung. You’re good at writing cute short stories for children, and you’re also good at drawing cute animals."
Right?
Of course, Sohee loved drawing his webtoon with Hong Sera and Cho Euntak.
But I enjoy drawing cute animals more.
"It’s all thanks to GoldHee. I found out that I enjoy drawing cute animals when our silly goose became special to us and our relationship," Sohee said, smiling. He was talking about the precious goose ’piggy’ bank that he and Kim Heedo used to collect their punishment fee during sex. Once upon a time, he needed to pay his husband a fee if he said ’it’s good’ during sex. "Heedo-ya, should I give it a try? I’ll look for publishing companies that specialize in children’s book, then I’ll submit my portfolio to them."
"That’s a good idea, Hyung," Kim Heedo said, smiling. "If all else fails, I’ll build a publishing company for you."
Aigoo.
