CHAPTER 37: CHAPTER 37: IF YOU HAVE GUTS, GO BE TOUGH WITH THE MISSUS!

Instructing the delivery guy to leave the food at the security room at the neighborhood entrance, Seraphina Thorne hung up the phone.

The waiter served the steak, the meat was tender and perfectly cooked, but Seraphina was eating a bit absent-mindedly.

Across from her, Ivy Langley was still gossiping.

"By the way, Seraphina, now that you’re cohabiting with Ethan Sterling, surely you’re sharing a bed too, right?"

Seraphina recalled those times she and Ethan almost took things further, her face turning red.

"Of course not."

"Why are you so nervous?" Ivy laughed out loud, "Come on, you two are married, certified, protected by marriage law, it’s only natural. And besides... such a handsome guy right there, wouldn’t it be a waste not to?"

At this point, she winked at Seraphina across the table.

"Seraphina, don’t say your sister didn’t warn you, make sure President Sterling... drives safely, okay?"

Seraphina looked confused, blinking her eyes in puzzlement.

"What do you mean by driving safely?"

Ivy leaned over, lowering her voice.

"Use protection!"

Seraphina was stunned for two seconds before she got it, turning red and throwing the napkin at her.

"You little perv!"

Ivy burst into laughter but then suddenly became serious.

"Speaking of which, lately I’ve been assisting my professor with several divorce cases. This world is so unfair, men can have affairs, yet they demand women to stay loyal and untouched? Why?"

Such a question wasn’t something Seraphina could answer.

And Ivy wasn’t really expecting an answer from her either.

Before Seraphina could respond, Ivy already picked up her glass again.

"Let’s not talk about these two-timing bastards. Cheers to the future star lawyer!"

Maybe she was happy about passing the intern lawyer exam; maybe she was upset thinking about her dad’s affair...

This meal, Ivy was clearly drinking a bit too much.

Seraphina took her car keys, personally drove her home.

On the way back, she took the subway as usual.

The subway was quite empty at night, and she easily found a seat, her mind still thinking about the food delivery.

"Next station, The Finance Tower."

The subway stopped at The Finance Tower station, Seraphina stood up with her violin and got off before the doors closed.

Until she figured this out, she wouldn’t be at ease.

Exiting the subway station, Seraphina quickly made her way to the bottom of The Finance Tower.

Entering the elevator, she pressed the button for the top floor.

Just as the elevator reached the top floor, she lifted her right hand, lightly tapped her forehead.

"Seraphina, Seraphina, you’re such an idiot, how could you think of coming here to find him?"

Someone like Ethan Sterling couldn’t possibly have just one home at The Paramount Gardens.

He could easily move to another place, maybe even stay with another woman.

Pressing the elevator close button, she returned to the elevator.

The elevator doors closed gradually, a familiar figure flashed by outside, it was Ethan’s assistant, Sean Hale.

Sean was Ethan’s shadow, if he was there, Ethan surely was too.

Seraphina stepped forward, blocking the closing elevator doors.

Holding the freshly printed documents, Sean hurried into the meeting room, distributing them to the people sitting around the table.

At the main seat, Ethan’s voice was hoarse.

"Take these documents home first..."

Halfway through his words, he couldn’t help but start coughing, his handsome face reddened from the coughing.

The subordinates all looked concerned.

"President Sterling, you’re coughing quite badly, maybe you should go see a doctor?"

"Yeah, it’d be troublesome if you end up with pneumonia."

...

Sean picked up a cup of warm water, Ethan drank two sips and stopped coughing.

"Tomorrow morning, submit an acquisition report to me each. Meeting adjourned!"

Everyone knew his temper, so they had no choice but to leave.

Gathering the open files and documents on the table, Sean frowned and turned his face.

"President Sterling, you should go back home to sleep tonight; you’re not contagious since your tests were clear, there’s no need to stay isolated from the madam."

Next to Ethan’s office, there was a small rest room, but it was only for temporary use.

No way was it as comfortable as sleeping at home?

Besides, the employees come to work early, making it impossible for Ethan to sleep in.

"Even if it’s not the flu, it’s still contagious... cough cough... you have no idea, she..."

Before Ethan could finish, Sean stood still holding the documents.

"The madam?!"

Ethan turned his face to look outside the glass wall.

He immediately saw Seraphina standing out there, the girl biting her lip, eyes sparkling.

Upon seeing him, she hurriedly put on a smile.

Ethan stared for a few seconds, frowning at Sean.

The latter quickly shook his head, indicating it wasn’t him who told.

By then, Seraphina had already walked to the meeting room door.

"Seraphina?!"

Ethan stood up, took a step forward and then retreated.

He took a spare mask out of his pocket, put it on his face, and then walked over.

"What brings you here?"

Seraphina lowered her lashes, trying to keep her tone natural.

"Just passing by, so... I thought I’d pick you up on the way home."

"The company is quite busy these days." His throat itched a bit, Ethan covered his mouth with a fist, coughed lightly to the side, "After I finish this work, I’ll go back to stay. Sean, please take the madam home!"

Seraphina raised her hand, grabbed his sleeve.

"The house is so big, I’m a bit scared on my own."

Sean chimed in, "President Sterling, why don’t you accompany the madam home? I can handle the remaining work on my own."

Without giving Ethan a chance to object, Sean quickly gathered Ethan’s medications, fetched it from the office, along with car keys, and handed them to Seraphina.

"I’ll leave it to you then."

Taking the keys and medicine, Seraphina took Ethan’s coat from the chair back, draping it over him.

Cooperatively, he extended his arms, putting on the coat, Ethan voluntarily took Seraphina’s violin.

"Shall we go?"

"Uh, madam..." Sean ran out of the meeting room, lying calmly, "There’s nothing scheduled for the company tomorrow morning, so make sure President Sterling goes for a check-up, like the doctor said last time, President Sterling needs a follow-up in this condition."

He deliberately emphasized the word "must."

"Okay." Seraphina responded lightly, "I understand."

Ethan turned to look, glaring at Sean.

Sean took a mental note of the glaring but acted as if he didn’t notice, turning back to the office, humming a tune while he tidied up his files and documents.

Glaring, huh?

If you’ve got the guts, try that with the madam!

"Anything else?" Seeing Ethan standing still, Seraphina turned her face in doubt.

Glancing sideways into the office, seeing the gloating Sean, Ethan’s tone suddenly softened.

"Nothing, let’s go!"

Turning his face, watching the two figures disappear side by side through the company’s front door, Sean burst out laughing.

Who’s the big shot of Vexler Street?

No one dares cross Third Young Master Sterling?!

Still, he’s completely tamed!

After laughing, he shook his head, sighing softly.

There’s really no such thing as a truly cold-hearted person in this world, it’s just...

They haven’t met the one who makes their heart flutter yet.
