Marvel: A Portal to the World of Swallowed Star
Chapter 17 17: Beast Meat
With his plans finalized, Rowan didn't rush back to the Marvel world. Instead, he turned on the computer in his apartment and went online.
He opened the HR Alliance online marketplace and placed a large order of various beast meats and rare medicinal herbs.
Beast meat was incredibly nutritious, capable of gradually enhancing physical strength. When combined with medicinal herbs in a herbal bath, the effects became even more pronounced.
Rowan spared no expense. He specifically chose high-tier Beast Soldier-grade meat. The remaining 12 million yuan in his account? He spent it all.
The HR Alliance's service standards rivaled that of the Limit Martial Hall. Given that Rowan's order exceeded ten million yuan, his purchase automatically triggered their premium delivery protocol. Within seconds of payment, a notification popped up: the goods would arrive within two hours.
After confirming the order, Rowan made a phone call.
It was a number Howard Zhou had given him. The person on the other end was a regional supervisor of the HR Alliance in Yi'an District someone who could supply Kroluminum alloys.
Once the supervisor heard that Howard had referred him, he didn't put on airs. He confirmed the alloy pricing, which matched what Howard had quoted earlier.
Rowan immediately stated the amount he wanted to purchase.
When the supervisor heard that Rowan was ordering 15 million yuan worth of Grade 2 Kroluminum and 8 million yuan of Grade 3, he didn't even blink. After all, HR Alliance staff routinely dealt with martial artists whose transactions ran into tens of millions. Rowan's order wasn't even out of the ordinary.
"Understood, Mr. Rowan. Once we receive the payment, I'll arrange delivery to the warehouse you specify."
Rowan ended the call and transferred 23 million yuan from his account. A confirmation text soon followed: "Funds received."
With his funds depleted, Rowan dove into another set of Basic Ten Forms. His goal was strength, and there could be no compromise on training.
He repeated the set three times in a row, exhausting himself until he collapsed on the bed, drenched in sweat.
Just as he lay catching his breath, the doorbell rang.
Rowan groaned and forced himself up to answer it.
Standing at the door was a delivery agent in an HR Alliance uniform. The man wore a baseball cap and had a sharp presence strong, perhaps even a martial artist himself.
"Good day. I'm with the HR Alliance. Here is your order. Please verify the items."
The agent handed Rowan a receipt and helped him carry the delivery inside.
Once the door was closed, Rowan gazed at the piles of cold storage containers, a surge of excitement bubbling in his chest.
These supplies would drastically improve his training efficiency.
He opened the boxes one by one.
There were over a dozen cuts of beast meat, each neatly packaged in 2kg portions. They were all rich red in color, beautifully marbled, and unbelievably fresh. HR Alliance's preservation methods were clearly top-tier the meat looked freshly butchered.
Rowan chose three portions for immediate use: the foreleg of a one-horned boar, the tenderloin of a saber-toothed lynx, and the rib cut of a bloodthirsty tank-beast. He placed these in the fridge, storing the rest in the freezer.
As for the herbs, the HR Alliance had already categorized them by effect. Each packet was ready-made for a single bath.
He picked one labeled for recovery and stored the rest away.
Once everything was sorted, Rowan headed straight for the bathroom. He filled the tub with water and dropped the herbal packet in.
His body still ached from two days of training. It was the perfect chance to test the bath.
While the tub filled, Rowan went to the kitchen, grabbed the saber-toothed lynx tenderloin, and fired up the stove. He drizzled bean oil into a pan and started a slow sear.
The HR Alliance had included cooking instructions. Most beast meat required a pressure cooker, but the lynx tenderloin was tender enough to pan-fry.
Since this apartment didn't have a pressure cooker yet, he decided to start with the lynx.
Ten minutes later, the rich aroma of sizzling meat filled the kitchen.
Rowan's mouth watered.
He checked the meat's color perfectly cooked. A sprinkle of salt and pepper, and it was ready.
He picked up his chopsticks and took a bite.
His eyes widened.
Tender. Juicy. Incredibly flavorful. The moment he swallowed, a warm sensation spread from his esophagus to his stomach, then radiated outward to every limb.
It was like drinking a shot of hot liquor on a snowy day.
Rowan couldn't stop. He polished off the entire plate.
Soon, his skin broke into a light sweat.
"This stuff is potent."
He was amazed. Tiger meat probably wasn't much stronger than this.
Meanwhile, the sound of running water continued in the bathroom.
Rowan didn't rush. He sat for a few minutes, letting the warmth circulate through his body. The effects of the meat were evident.
After a hearty meal, even with his enhanced metabolism post-RR virus infection, he felt stuffed. His skin radiated heat like a furnace.
If it were winter, steam would be rising off him.
"No wonder the kids from rich families outpace their peers. This beast meat is insane."
He marveled at how much energy the lynx tenderloin contained easily equivalent to a week's worth of a regular human's protein intake.
Skipping the dishes, Rowan went to the bathroom.
The tub was full. The herbal packet had turned the water a reddish-brown.
The room was thick with a bitter yet fragrant scent.
Rowan stripped and stepped into the tub.
Despite the water being over 60 degrees Celsius, he didn't feel overheated.
He let out a long breath of relief.
His pores opened up as he submerged himself. It felt as though he was merging with the hot water.
His body relaxed, his thoughts drifted, and he slipped into a half-conscious state.
When he awoke again, the water had gone cold.
Forty minutes had passed.
He glanced down and noticed the water had lightened in color.
Standing up, he moved his limbs. The soreness in his muscles was gone.
In its place, a steady strength filled his body.
"This herbal bath is no joke."
As he rinsed off with clean water, he couldn't help but marvel at the results.
The Basic Ten Forms, combined with medicinal baths and beast meat the synergy of all three drastically amplified his training.
"Money really is amazing," Rowan chuckled as he dried himself.
"Resources come first." That was the first principle of cultivation: wealth, techniques, companions, and then territory. Wealth always came first.
The importance of resources couldn't be overstated.
He glanced at his ring. Only two gems still glowed.
"Time to find Tony and talk about the Arc Reactor."
Energy was now the top priority.
