Marvel: A Portal to the World of Swallowed Star
Chapter 45 45: Director Norris Stunned - A Glimpse of a Future War God
"Once I get a little stronger, I need to find a way to get my hands on some Vibranium."
Rowan turned over the shield and blade in his hands, deep in thought.
The weapons and shield made of Kroluminum needed regular upgrading as his strength grew. But with Vibranium, he could potentially use the same set until he reached the planetary level without needing to replace anything.
Especially the shield. A Vibranium shield was a masterpiece of defense just look at Captain America's, practically a symbol in itself.
"Right now, Earth only has Vibranium mines in Wakanda and Talokan. Wakanda has the largest known reserves..."
Rowan's mind raced.
Though Wakanda had the Black Panther and some advanced technology guarding it, to Rowan, it wasn't anything too intimidating. Sure, their science was impressive, but their people? Far too complacent and isolated. With the right approach, it wouldn't be hard to break through their defenses.
As for Talokan the underwater kingdom built by Namor it posed even less of a threat. Take Namor out, and the rest would scatter like leaves in the wind.
"I wonder what grade Vibranium would be in the Swallowed Star world..."
Rowan contemplated this carefully.
Vibranium's strengths weren't limited to its durability. Its unique molecular structure made it highly valuable for advanced technologies.
In the films, Wakanda had even used it to develop things like energy shields true technological marvels.
In Rowan's estimation, within the Swallowed Star universe, Vibranium would likely be classified as at least a B5-grade metal.
And why only B-grade?
Because, in Avengers: Endgame, Thanos was able to damage Captain America's shield. That proved Vibranium wasn't truly indestructible.
"Still, Vibranium weapons should be more than enough before I reach planetary-level strength."
Originally, Rowan hadn't planned to seize Vibranium so soon.
He hadn't expected to awaken as a Spirit Master nor that his initial gene energy cultivation would yield such an enormous boost.
Now that he could fly and launch long-range attacks, and his body had strengthened dramatically, acquiring Vibranium had become a much more feasible goal.
Why let those fools hoard it and waste such valuable resources?
Just thinking about Wakanda's closed-off, tribal leadership made Rowan want to laugh.
They had cutting-edge technology, yet still chose their king through ritual combat and not even with full powers. They had to strip the Black Panther of his strength first. Completely absurd.
While Rowan was mentally drafting his plan to infiltrate Wakanda, the doors to the training hall creaked open.
Rowan looked up and saw Director Norris walking in.
"Rowan!" Norris called out warmly as he approached with a wide smile.
"Director," Rowan greeted politely.
As Norris came closer, Rowan noticed the faint smell of alcohol. He must have had drinks with other instructors at lunch.
"Rowan, did you really succeed in cultivating gene energy?" Norris asked, still sounding a bit incredulous despite the smile on his face.
Rowan nodded. "Yes, Director."
"How long did it take you to sense cosmic energy?" Norris pressed.
Rowan hesitated.
Even he found it unbelievable that it had taken him just over thirty minutes to sense and connect with cosmic energy.
He had always assumed his talent was inferior to Luo Feng's. And yet, while Luo Feng took four to five hours, Rowan had needed barely half an hour.
Perhaps it had something to do with frequently traveling through dimensional vortexes.
"Three hours," Rowan said after a moment's thought. He decided to downplay it anything more would be too hard to explain.
"Three hours?" Norris's jaw nearly hit the floor.
As the head of the Limit Dojo's Yi'an District, Norris had seen countless martial artists in training, but he had never heard of someone sensing gene energy so quickly on their first attempt.
In the martial world, the ability to absorb cosmic energy and cultivate gene power determined one's advancement rate. The faster you sensed energy during your first attempt, the greater your innate talent.
Rowan's result pointed to monstrous potential.
Norris could hardly wrap his head around it. How talented would someone have to be to succeed in just three hours?
"Quickly, Rowan! Let's test your punching power!" Norris said, unable to contain his excitement.
Rowan nodded and stepped in front of the punching force tester.
He was curious too just how much had he improved?
Norris watched him intently, his breath quickening.
During lunch, the other instructors had jokingly teased him, envious that he had lucked into such a talented student. Some even speculated that Rowan might be accepted into the Limit Dojo's central training academy.
But now, seeing Rowan's expression and the glint in his eyes, Norris realized they had still underestimated him.
Rowan took a deep breath and approached the machine.
He sank into a stable stance, drawing power from the ground upward, his arm stretched out to full length a technique that allowed him to channel the maximum force through his body.
His movements were deliberate and controlled.
Having just experienced a massive boost in strength, he needed to be extra precise to handle it well.
Wham!
With a roar of power, Rowan's fist tore through the air and slammed into the target pad. The device vibrated with a deep hum, and a wave of wind burst outward from the impact.
Norris narrowed his eyes, stunned by the blast of air that brushed past his face.
As a high-level warrior himself, he immediately knew that was not the kind of force a beginner could produce.
His heartbeat quickened.
He stared at the screen, waiting for the numbers to appear.
And when they did, his eyes widened in disbelief.
2881 kg
Norris felt a chill crawl down his spine.
He had witnessed Rowan's earlier test that morning, when his force measured at 923 kg during the pre-warrior assessment.
Now, just one afternoon later, Rowan's punch had skyrocketed to 2881 kg a solid mid-tier warrior level!
That meant a staggering increase of 1958 kg after just one session of gene energy cultivation.
This kind of improvement was nearly unheard of even in Jiangnan Base City, you'd be lucky to see one or two individuals a year achieve that level.
And Rowan was only sixteen years old.
Sixteen, and already punching with a force of nearly three thousand kilograms?
Norris sucked in a breath. This level of talent was more than enough to qualify for the elite training camp.
Rowan had the potential to be a top-tier fighter.
Norris was overwhelmed.
He no longer saw Rowan as just another trainee.
In his eyes, Rowan now radiated with brilliance a prodigy destined for greatness, perhaps even to become a War God if he could avoid disaster along the way.
To a high-level warrior like Norris, the title of War God was an untouchable summit.
He had never imagined that, in his lifetime, he would have the privilege of mentoring someone who might one day stand at that summit.
As Norris stood there, lost in awe, Rowan glanced at the numbers on the screen, his expression calm.
He wasn't surprised.
When Luo Feng first awakened both his gene energy and Spirit Master talents, his punching force had increased by nearly 2000 kg as well.
Rowan's result an increase of 1958 kg was perfectly within expectations.
