Marvel: A Portal to the World of Swallowed Star
Chapter 46 46: Instructor, I’ve Also Awakened My Psychic Talent
"Instructor, let me test my speed again," Rowan said as he turned to Director Norris.
Director Norris snapped out of his daze, his body slightly trembling. "Y-yes, of course!" he stammered, nodding repeatedly.
Rowan stepped into the adjacent speed-testing chamber. After assuming his stance at the starting line, Director Norris pressed the button to begin the test.
Rowan launched forward like a streak of light, a blurred afterimage racing across the testing hall.
He sprinted at full power, his entire body surging with vitality. Every cell seemed to come alive.
His legs generated such tremendous strength that he felt almost weightless, as though he had broken free from gravity.
In just one second, Rowan reached the other end of the chamber.
Beep!
A number flashed on the speed monitor.
"49 meters per second."
"As expected. His speed has skyrocketed too!"
Director Norris stared at the screen in awe. That morning, Rowan's top speed had been 25.1 meters per second he had doubled it in less than a day!
And speed was far harder to increase than strength.
Rowan smiled at the monitor. After all, in martial arts, speed is king.
The sensation of running just now so close to flight was intoxicating.
He had tried object-flight before using telekinetic control. While cool, it always felt a bit artificial, like pulling strings from the outside.
After all, flying through external force wasn't that different from being hoisted on wires.
But what he just experienced? That was raw physical power defying gravity. It was exhilarating.
"Rowan, your current physical ability has reached the level of an Intermediate Warrior," Director Norris said, both impressed and thoughtful.
The benchmark for an Intermediate Warrior was 2,000 kg of punching force and a speed of 40 meters per second.
Rowan was already nearing the threshold for Advanced Warrior.
Rowan nodded, but another thought crossed his mind:
"If my physical stats match an Intermediate Warrior, then my psychic strength must already be at Junior War General level."
He hesitated for a moment, debating whether or not to reveal his psychic awakening to Director Norris.
Unlike Luo Feng, Rowan had no intention of hiding his psychic abilities.
He didn't have any enemies to fear, and right now, he needed the support of the Extreme Martial Hall more than ever.
Only with their backing could he freely transport resources from the Marvel world into the Swallowed Star universe.
Arc reactors, AI tech, Extremis virus, even vibranium none of those could be protected without strong allies.
"Rowan, is something wrong?" Director Norris asked, noticing Rowan watching him intently.
Rowan took a breath and said, "Instructor, besides unlocking my gene energy this afternoon, I've awakened something else."
"Something else?" Director Norris frowned slightly, puzzled.
"Yes. Something like… this."
As he spoke, Rowan casually hooked his finger.
A dagger from the nearby weapons rack shot into the air with a sharp whistle, hovering above Rowan's finger.
With a slight twitch, the blade spun rapidly in midair.
Director Norris's eyes widened to the size of saucers. His jaw dropped, throat suddenly dry.
As a seasoned warrior, he knew exactly what this meant.
A Psychic.
One in tens of thousands possessed the gift.
His mind raced with the weight of what he was witnessing.
He understood how rare Psychics were among warriors.
And he understood how valuable they were.
That's why he was trembling.
A 16-year-old Intermediate Warrior… who also possessed psychic talent?
This was a once-in-a-generation prodigy even among the elite of the country.
"A Psychic… Rowan, you've awakened psychic abilities!"
Director Norris was no longer the calm and collected head instructor. His excitement overflowed.
Rowan smiled faintly.
If Norris knew that Luo Feng his other student had even greater potential, who knows how he'd react?
It took a while for Director Norris to calm down. Once composed, he placed both hands firmly on Rowan's shoulders, eyes gleaming.
"Rowan, would you consider joining the Extreme Martial Hall early?"
Rowan raised a brow, smiling inwardly.
That was exactly what he'd been waiting for when he revealed his psychic powers.
Still, he didn't respond immediately.
Seeing Rowan hesitate, Director Norris pressed on.
"Rowan, to be honest, with talent like yours, you're practically a mutant. There are only a handful across the entire country."
"Once you take the real-world warrior exam, organizations like Thunderbolt Dojo and the HR Alliance will surely try to recruit you."
"To secure your place, I'm formally inviting you on behalf of the Extreme Martial Hall."
His voice was serious and sincere.
"Instructor, if I agree to join early… what benefits would that come with?" Rowan asked.
He'd already made up his mind to join, but that didn't mean he couldn't bargain for a little more.
Director Norris chuckled. "Normally, new recruits get a private villa and one million yuan as starter funds."
"But with your talent, we'd offer you a Special Training Contract. You'd still get the villa, but the starting fund would be 20 million yuan."
"You'd also receive three martial arts resources: a guided cultivation manual, a sword technique, and a movement technique free of charge, provided their combined value is under 50 million."
"Additionally," he added with a gleam in his eye, "I suspect HQ would award you a spot in the Elite Training Camp."
Rowan's expression changed slightly.
That was the prelude to becoming a war god.
If he got into the camp early, it would give him major advantages.
First, it was a secure environment, perfect for transitioning out of the rookie stage.
Second, it provided expert mentors, vast resources, and cutting-edge facilities for rapid growth.
Most importantly, it gave him serious status. Everyone knew that graduates from the Elite Training Camp were practically guaranteed to become war gods.
No faction would dare mess with a future war god.
With that kind of protection, Rowan could "sell goods" freely.
He might even sell directly to the Extreme Martial Hall for long-term profit shares.
"Alright, Instructor. I accept your invitation," Rowan said with a nod.
"You do? That's fantastic! Wait right here I'm calling HQ!"
Overjoyed, Director Norris dashed off to place a call to headquarters.
Soon, the screen on his phone lit up with the image of an elderly man with silver hair.
"Norris? What is it this late?" the man asked.
"Uncle Bai! We've found an exceptional prodigy here in the Yian District!"
Norris could hardly contain his excitement.
"A prodigy, you say?" Uncle Bai's interest was piqued. "Tell me more."
"This young man's name is Rowan. He's just sixteen and passed the warrior pre-test today. In only three hours, he sensed cosmic energy and began cultivating gene force."
"After his first session, his punching power increased by 1,958 kilograms."
Uncle Bai's eyes widened in disbelief.
Sixteen years old, pre-qualified, immediate cultivation response, nearly 2,000 kg of power after one session?
That was indeed prodigious.
Then Norris dropped the real bomb:
"And one more thing Rowan has awakened psychic talent."
"What?!"
Now Uncle Bai was visibly shaken.
A Psychic?
Every major organization would compete for someone like that.
A 16-year-old Intermediate Warrior and a Psychic? He'd already surpassed the requirements for the Elite Training Camp!
"Norris, bring him to headquarters immediately!"
Uncle Bai was now even more excited than Norris.
