Marvel: A Portal to the World of Swallowed Star
Chapter 76 76: The Inspector and the Councilor-Level Warrior
"Rowan, does this Extremis Serum have any side effects?"
Yang Hui's chest was visibly heaving, his voice laced with restrained excitement.
"For ordinary people, there's a small chance of spontaneous combustion. But for warriors, the failure rate is very low. Based on my observations, the stronger the user, the higher the success rate."
"Is that so?" Yang Hui's eyes flickered intensely.
He understood just how earth-shattering this serum could be.
"Oh, and one more thing, Envoy Yang," Rowan added, "After injection, the user can also generate heat exceeding two thousand degrees Celsius."
"What?!"
Yang Hui was stunned.
Rowan glanced over at Zhou Ping.
Zhou Ping gave a nod and stepped forward. He picked up a weapon from the side of the training room a spear forged from refined steel.
A crimson glow shimmered across his forearm. Instantly, the temperature in the room shot up.
Within seconds, the steel spear in Zhou Ping's hand glowed red-hot before melting into molten metal, dripping onto the floor.
Clink! Clank!
Yang Hui could almost hear the sound of his own heartbeat.
A serum that not only enabled limb regeneration but also allowed the user to generate several thousand degrees of heat?
The effects were unreal.
For an average warrior, this serum would drastically increase combat capabilities, and the chances of survival in beast-infested wild zones would skyrocket.
Even he, a Wargod, would see a substantial boost in strength.
As long as the injury wasn't fatal, he could keep regenerating.
"Rowan, this is too important. I need to bring you directly to Headquarters. You'll meet with the Inspector-General!"
Yang Hui knew this was well beyond his level of authority now. He gripped Rowan's arm, his excitement barely contained.
"Alright."
Rowan nodded calmly.
The Inspectors were the highest-ranking figures within the Limitless Martial Hall each of them held planetary-level strength. There were only five such Inspectors in the entire organization, and each wielded tremendous power.
"Please wait a moment, Envoy Yang. I need to retrieve the remaining Extremis samples."
"Go ahead."
Rowan quickly fetched the grey refrigerated case containing the two remaining vials of the serum.
"Let's move."
Yang Hui turned to Zhou Ping.
"Zhou Ping, I need you to come with us to Hongning Base City. Don't worry once we return, I'll personally see to it that you're officially inducted into the Limitless Martial Hall."
"Thank you, Envoy Yang!"
Zhou Ping beamed with gratitude and bowed repeatedly.
Before long, Yang Hui led Rowan and Zhou Ping out of the villa.
Zhuge Tao and Sun Hong were waiting outside, their expressions puzzled. Just as they were about to speak, Yang Hui raised a hand to stop them.
"Zhuge Tao, Sun Hong, return to Jiangnan Pavilion on your own. I'm taking Rowan directly to Hongning Base City."
"What? Envoy Yang, what happened? Aren't we doing the induction assessment?"
The two directors were stunned.
"There's something even more important. I can't disclose the details yet, but rest assured it's a good thing."
Yang Hui's tone was brimming with barely restrained excitement.
Seeing this, Zhuge Tao and Sun Hong exchanged glances and gave subtle nods. There was nothing more to say.
"We're off!"
Yang Hui grabbed both Rowan and Zhou Ping by the shoulders and leapt onto the ship's deck.
The warship's hatch closed behind them and with a thunderous roar, the craft shot into the sky, vanishing into the horizon.
Zhuge Tao and Sun Hong were left standing in place, mouths slightly open, unsure what to say.
Everything had happened so quickly, they hadn't had time to react.
"Old Sun, what do you think Rowan said to Envoy Yang just now? He was so worked up, he even skipped the induction exam."
Zhuge Tao finally asked, voice low with curiosity.
"How should I know? I'm just as baffled. I've never seen Envoy Yang so flustered before."
Sun Hong looked just as confused.
"Forget it. Since Envoy Yang said it's a good thing, let's not worry about it. We'll file a report when we get back."
Though his curiosity was eating at him, Zhuge Tao could only sigh.
"Right. Let's go."
Meanwhile, Yang Hui had already pushed the warship to its top speed, racing toward Hongning Base City.
Located in Central Asia, the base city took just over two hours to reach, thanks to the craft's blazing speed.
After passing security checks, the ship flew straight into the headquarters of the Limitless Martial Hall bypassing the front gates entirely.
"Come, Rowan. I've already contacted the Inspector. He's waiting for us."
The moment they disembarked, Yang Hui led Rowan to a quiet, secluded villa.
Though the house wasn't large compared to others in the district, it stood out for its distinctive architecture it resembled an estate from ancient Tang Dynasty China, full of grace and austerity.
"Envoy Yang, the Inspector is waiting for you inside," the elderly butler at the door said warmly.
Yang Hui nodded and stepped inside with Rowan. As they entered the ground floor living room, they saw three middle-aged women chatting over tea.
"Yang Hui, Old Wang is upstairs waiting."
One of the women, around her fifties, smiled at them.
"Thank you, ma'am. We'll head up now."
Yang Hui bowed respectfully, clearly aware this was the Inspector's wife.
Upstairs, the faint aroma of tea wafted through the corridor. Yang Hui led Rowan into a training chamber designed with traditional decor polished wood, stone flooring, and elegant calligraphy.
Standing in the center of the room was a slender man with his hands clasped behind his back, facing away from them.
As soon as they entered, the man turned.
He was thin, with a scholarly air, a refined yet gaunt face, and a neatly trimmed moustache. He held a string of prayer beads in one hand, which clicked gently between his fingers as he turned.
When his eyes opened and met Rowan's gaze, a thunderous sensation exploded in Rowan's mind.
In that moment, it felt as if the entire reception room dissolved into a void and this thin, scholarly man became the only deity presiding over it.
Rowan felt an immense pressure clutch at his chest.
"You're Rowan?"
The Inspector looked him over, then finally spoke.
"Yes, sir."
Rowan bowed deeply, body slightly leaning forward in deference.
"Yang Hui already gave me a full report. I also reviewed the video he transmitted. The serum's effects are indeed astonishing. But given the stakes involved, I must verify it personally."
The Inspector's voice was calm but resolute.
Rowan gave a respectful nod and retrieved the grey refrigerated box from behind his back, opening it to reveal two crimson-hued vials.
Both the Inspector and Yang Hui were immediately drawn to them.
"Sir, these are the two remaining samples. You're welcome to conduct your own tests."
The Inspector nodded, then clapped his hands.
From the adjacent room came the sound of footsteps. Moments later, two warriors entered both exuding formidable presence and a cold, deadly aura.
One of them had only one arm, his gaze sharp and intense.
The other was missing three fingers.
"Rowan, administer the serum. I've already explained everything to them."
The Inspector spoke with calm authority.
Rowan nodded, realizing the arrangements had already been made while he was en route.
He picked up one vial and stepped toward the one-armed warrior.
