Chapter 235: Half True, Half False

Unlike the world Raymond came from, this one has no superpowered people outside of mutants. Even the Juggernaut here is a mutant, not someone who gained power from a dimensional god.

So if someone isn't a mutant, they can almost always be seen as a normal human.

And a normal human suddenly showing up in a mutant base was terrifying—yes, truly terrifying!

In other worlds or timelines, when normal humans face mutants, it is usually the humans who feel nervous, afraid, or scared. But here it's different.

Even though normal people in this world have no powers, and any mutant could easily wipe out a group of them alone, the truth is mutants here are hunted down without any chance to rest.

If they are found, they must run right away, often relying on someone like Kitty's foresight ability to "test escape routes" in advance, or else they might not make it out alive.

This shows how frightening humans are to mutants here.

So when Magneto directly said Raymond wasn't a mutant, most of the mutants present didn't feel anger or hatred first. They felt fear.

They immediately stepped back, even though they knew that if Raymond really was just a normal human, they could crush him with ease. Still, they couldn't stop the fear in their hearts…

This was fear built up over many years. It wasn't something that could change quickly.

Only Magneto and a few powerful Level Four mutants—those who could at least fight Sentinels—were able to stand before Raymond without much fear.

And in this team, there were quite a few Level Four mutants, maybe around ten. If you counted those already killed by Sentinels, the number would be at least double.

Compared to Raymond's original world, there were clearly more Level Four mutants here.

This was forced by the Sentinel hunts.

But even so, it was useless. It couldn't change the fact that they were hunted to death.

In fact, mutants like Clarice with rare, special powers were even more valuable than most Level Fours.

"Yes, I really am not a mutant," Raymond admitted with a smile, spreading his hands.

He didn't try to hide it. First, he didn't feel the need, and second, it was hard to fake.

Many mutants had abilities that could sense their own kind. Lies wouldn't work. It was better to admit it outright.

"Charles… I need an explanation!"

Hearing Raymond admit he wasn't a mutant, Magneto struggled to hold back his anger. His hand was already half raised.

He could tell that his old friend and this man knew each other well. They had been talking and even laughing together before. Clearly, they were close.

That was the only reason he hadn't killed Raymond on the spot.

Otherwise, with his personality, the moment he found out Raymond wasn't a mutant, he would have struck immediately without wasting words.

In this world, humans and mutants were mortal enemies. No right or wrong—only survival!

"Don't be so tense, Erik…" Professor sub-personality waved with a smile. "Raymond is my friend. He came here to help us solve our problem."

"Friend?"

Magneto's tone didn't soften. He just sneered. "Have you gone senile, Charles? Making friends with humans again?"

"I knew you would react like this." Professor shook his head helplessly.

Magneto's reaction was expected.

In fact, not only Magneto—most of the others probably thought the same. It was just that only Magneto dared to openly challenge him so directly.

The rest, even if they disagreed, would speak in a more polite way, not so blunt.

But one thing was clear: no one here supported him being friends with a human, not even his old followers.

After years of being hunted and watching countless comrades die, they could no longer see humans with sympathy.

Even the Professor himself couldn't do it before.

So he fully understood how they felt.

But Raymond was far from being an ordinary person.

As one of Raymond's sub-personalities, Professor's split self knew well how many monsters still lived inside Raymond.

And he didn't even need to mention Jiro—someone so strong that even the Silver sub-personalities feared him. Just among the other Silver sub-personalities, there were plenty of terrifying monsters.

If Raymond really wanted to give his full support, he had no doubt Raymond could completely change the fate of this world.

"Sir, Why don't you show them a little?" Professor asked in his mind.

He used to call Raymond the main personality, but since Raymond found that awkward, he followed the others and started calling him "Sir"

Raymond didn't answer. He just switched instantly into the sub-personality of Kizaru.

Shuu—

A flash of golden light, and 'Raymond' vanished from where he stood. When he reappeared, he was behind Magneto, pressing one finger against his temple.

"Don't move. If I poke down with this finger, you might die, yo…"

'Raymond' said lazily.

"Or maybe you die first," Magneto answered coldly.

"Ohhh, how scary!" 'Raymond' said with mock amazement as thin metal spikes hovered around his head, ready to stab him at any moment.

With a strange smile, he added, "Then let's see who's faster. Die!"

Though his words were threatening, his hand didn't move. Still, it made Magneto attack instinctively. In an instant, the spikes shot forward from every direction, stabbing straight through his head!

Shuu—

Another flash of golden light, and 'Raymond' was already back behind Professor, smiling faintly at Magneto, without any intent to press further.

But Magneto's face grew darker.

Because his attack had failed.

The spikes had definitely pierced Raymond's head—of that he was sure.

But the result was that 'Raymond' stood there unharmed, clearly holding back instead of killing him.

Otherwise, with the speed he just showed, he could have ended Magneto's life with ease.

Magneto didn't doubt it.

His own son Quicksilver, killed by Sentinels, had possessed a similar speed. At that level, killing a man with a simple gesture was child's play.

Which meant, if this had been a real fight, he would already be dead, while 'Raymond' would remain untouched.

"Wait… you're not a normal human?" Magneto finally realized the truth. The man before him had powers!

Since when did normal humans have superpowers?

If they had, humans wouldn't have hated mutants so much.

The Sentinel Program was created because humans were afraid of mutants in the first place. That fear drove them to fight mutants openly and even try to kill them all.

Magneto's men had told him Raymond wasn't a mutant, and Raymond himself had admitted it. So he assumed Raymond was a normal human.

But clearly, that wasn't the case.

"I never said I was a normal human," Raymond chuckled as he shifted back to his original self.

Hearing that, Magneto's expression actually softened, even though he had just been humiliated.

Pride didn't matter to him. As long as Raymond wasn't on the human side, they could be allies. Simple as that.

"Charles, are you really not going to explain this?" Magneto asked with clear annoyance.

In his mind, his old friend had probably stayed quiet just to watch him get embarrassed.

But he never stopped to think: if Raymond hadn't shown his power himself, would he really have believed Charles's words so easily?

Professor sub-personality didn't bother to argue. He just smiled and said, "Raymond isn't from our world. He comes from a parallel world."

"Many years ago, before the Sentinels were created, I met him. He came this time just to visit me. But after learning about my situation, he decided to help."

Parallel world?

Most people nodded thoughtfully, not doubting it.

Professor's words were half true, half false. Except for hiding the real connection between him and Raymond, the rest was basically the truth.

And the idea of parallel worlds wasn't hard for them to accept.

They had already seen things like consciousness going back in timelines. So the idea of other worlds existing wasn't so unbelievable.

Surprising, yes—but not impossible.

Magneto, however, wasn't so optimistic. He shook his head and said, "I admit, he is very strong. Probably none of us here could defeat him. But don't forget—even Level Five mutants died at their hands. His strength hasn't truly reached Level Five, has it?"

Raymond knew who he was talking about: Apocalypse.

Professor sub-personality had mentioned him before.

In this timeline, before things changed, Apocalypse had never been awakened.

So when the Sentinels were mass-produced and mutants first felt true despair, they came up with one last desperate plan—wake Apocalypse himself.
